Christmas and the sales are sadly over but winter is still here for a few months yet.

Come and show us your cosy knits and woolly hats whilst we dream of summer - everyone welcome, the more the merrier.

thanks dry that's really kind of you to say. I try really hard to keep moving forward and not let myself get bitter and negative by dwelling on what ifs and maybes. Yes, it would have been good to have been listened to before now BUT i don't see the sense in dwelling on it and letting it make me miserable, i'm concentrating on the fact that they are listening now and are helping me now, that's all that matters in the end Smile besides, i think my lack of bitter feelings and frowning keeps me looking young Grin Grin Grin

libertyonhertravels · 24/04/2019 10:21

Hello all,

Sorry have been AWOL but loved your post Blingy. A mixture of renovation, work and general life have been full on. But Brexit is on hold so work suddenly feels a lot less tense. Renovation - the steels are in so it's taking shape. We've made a decision to have micro-screed on the floor which is a cheaper version of polished concrete. Hope it's ok, DH was still keen on resin but I was worried about it looking too clinical. And should be getting quotes for the kitchen soon, think we're ending up bespoke as want a pantry cupboard and a massive island.

I'm desperately in need of new casual clothes but am definitely overweight. Struggling with having the time to focus on losing it, or just surrendering and buying stuff in a size larger.

May go shopping next week. I think I need to try things on in the flesh as just feel a bit meh.

DryWhiteagainW · 24/04/2019 14:07

Bit of a theme there One Wink

Liberty I want your outfit.

Stokey your kitchen sounds amazing. I love seeing how extensions can transform a house.

I feel old. Young men’s fashion is awful. Just bought DS some black Nike Airforce 1s. They’re cool don’t you know Hmm .....size 12, look like black bricks on the end of his skinny jeaned legs ...... infact I hate any bloke in skinny jeans, just look stupid.......imo ..........
DD is all loved up ...her bf came round the other day when it was boiling looking like he was going to Ibiza, snazzy watermelon shorts with pink t shirt and horrid black bricks on his feet. Couldn’t help laughing (bless him, he is nice though) DH walked in and said “you off swimming xxxx?”...........poor guy Grin its character building I guess.......

MarshaBradyo · 24/04/2019 14:13

I had to google Dry but I laughed at black bricks Grin although some of the fashion trainers for us are suitably bonkers atm!

Stokey sounds really ace

Lib fab outfit, One sounds tough Flowers

God I’m trying to put together a wooden cart for dd. Admittedly it’s v hard with her ‘helping’ but I’ve done it wrong. Twice!
Really keen to use it but might have to wait for clever ds (9) to get home need to start again

DryWhiteagainW · 24/04/2019 14:15

Marsha if I lived nearer I’d pop round with my screwdriver...love building stuff.....

MarshaBradyo · 24/04/2019 14:17

I reckon I could get into it too without my helper sharing the Allen key Grin

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/04/2019 15:02

Indeed dry, my little eternally goth heart feels right at home today Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/04/2019 16:11

Blingy definitely agree... some of us are settled and others have had a lot going on. Also, I don't know about anyone else but I am starting to see so much about the environmental impact of the fashion industry lately. I was never really a fast fashion consumer but I hate getting rid of stuff as it's a faff, so with both those things I am trying to be more careful about everything I buy now.

Hardest working items in winter wardrobe... black pointy toe heeled chelsea boots from & other stories, and navy J crew peacoat. It never really felt cold enough to wear my down coat.

Stokey your floor sounds like it'll be very cool! It must be hard re weight as assume you can't cook properly with no kitchen? I'm thinking of trying the 5:2 diet again in the run up to my sister's wedding...

One you sound upbeat, it must be hard having all these appointments going on but also good that things are moving forward.

I did buy this belted swimsuit from John Lewis. I haven't bought new swimwear since my wedding and I'm about to embark on a new term of swimming lessons with DS (my "part time" hours start in 2 weeks, eeek!)

DryWhiteagainW · 24/04/2019 18:02

Liberty can you link your “orangey red lipstick”.
Beautiful swimsuit Blair you’ll look v glam at baby swim classes

QueenCerise · 24/04/2019 19:42

My pet hate with men’s fashion is mankles. It’s ok for women to wear cropped/rolled up jeans and no socks but not men. Obviously imvho!

one it’s great that they’re sorting you out. It must feel like such a relief. And I love the sound of floral docs!
dry any particular bag in mind...?
stokey sounds like the kitchen is starting to take shape!

Ootd
New H&M floral top and skinny jeans. Ballet flats this morning and trainers this afternoon in the rain

DryWhiteagainW · 24/04/2019 21:34

Nit really QC. Needs to fit a laptop. Must be leather. I saw...

DryWhiteagainW · 24/04/2019 21:37

this one in Covent Garden. Lovely colour. You can get initials put on it. Think it looked roomy. Not too ££ for a bag that will be chucked about.
I’m going to look around...

FedupNagging · 24/04/2019 21:46

Wow so many posts Smile

Dry super well done on completing your course and congrats on the new job. Is it where you said you'd like to get a job?

One so pleased you're finally getting someone to actually listen to you and that will hopefully lead to the right treatment for you.

Stokey your extension is such a massive undertaking but sounds awesome.

Ootd was the Hush santana skirt, cream mango s/s jumper and stans

Winter wonders: Jigsaw check coat and maison scotch navy skinnies had the most wear this winter by far swiftly followed by the Uniqlo navy jumper I bought at the last MU I went to. (Can't wait for July)

thanks all Thanks

Ds is 15 this weekend! 15!! where has the time gone?! I'm sure he was a chubby cheeked toddler two minutes ago........I'm telling myself i'm not sad he's growing up but i think i am a little bit, he's not a little boy anymore, he's almost six foot tall and starting to grow just a tiny bit of a 'tache!!! i feel ancient!

FedupNagging · 24/04/2019 21:59

My wardrobe is never sorted but am definitely a lot fussier about what I wear - if I'm undecided/can't make a decision/don't love it, I walk away no matter if it's £10 or £100. Blair your comment about fast fashion/environmental impact has resonated as I've been thinking about that too. A friend suggested we don't purchase any new clothes for a year Shock never gonna happen (Fab swimsuit btw)

Gorgeous colour bag Dry & great style.

One happy birthday to DS, time flies so quickly doesn't it?

Fedup I too am a lot fussier and rarely impulse buy any more. In fact sometimes I'll talk myself out of buying an item convincing myself I won't wear it it enough. I'm all about the cpw these days.

Dry well done on the studying and the new job, hope you buy yourself lots of rewards.

Queen great purchases, I never think of Mango for jeans but now I'm drawn to a pair there.

Blingy sage words re: life cycles

Blair great classic swimsuit, hope ds enjoys his swimming lessons

Marsha how's the teepee building going? Grin

Stokey how much longer now until it's finished?

Lib you must be coming to the end of your renovations now

I've been reading a few interesting posts on here, one about no-one's wearing high heels anymore and funnily Marsha you saying that you're wearing your Rossi's much these days. I've been reaching for my flats a lot more more out of laziness than anything but after reading that thread I was determined to wear heels but still haven't done so yet, maybe they are onto something? Hmm

Also the weight thread was interesting about MC women being slimmer.

Back to fashion in answer to Lib's question re: winter favourites - I wore my black belted Burberry coat almost daily with black Toga Pulla boots and black skinnies. Underneath I wore merino jumpers from Uniqlo and JCrew. My winter wardrobe is the same year in year out, it's pretty boring.

On the upside I ordered this yesterday:

pink sweatshirt I'm trying to embrace colour again.

Question: Every winter I have to cull a lot of my merino jumpers due to moths, how can I prevent that from happening again? I use sandalwood wooden blocks in my drawers but still they chew my jumpers. Gah

libertyonhertravels · 26/04/2019 02:28

dry this is my orangey red lipstick this By Terry lippy in shade 8 hot spot

DryWhiteagainW · 26/04/2019 07:31

Kitty moths are a total pain. Really hard to get rid of and they’ll be in the carpets too. Have you tried keeping your wool in individual plastic bags with anti moth balls in them?

FedupNagging · 26/04/2019 07:39

I woke stupidly early today so have been idly looking a clothes.

As we need to fill this thread so we can have a shiny new 'slightly warmer weather' thread, I'm going to post some pics
