I took the plunge yesterday and had my first botox session.

I thought it might be useful to others thinking about it to post some progress pictures as the effects set in.

I'm 30 and first had botox at 29. Had it twice altogether. Never smoked. Have about 4 drinks a year (rock n roll lifestyle ha) and I love it. Got it initially for confidence reasons and no-one could tell unless I pointed it out and tried to frown and nothing moved! It's not for everyone but I really liked the effects and felt a lot better about myself. As soon as I can afford a top up I will be getting it again!

Delatron · 30/12/2018 20:49

I don’t like botox around the eyes. I’ve tried it and it made me look slightly ‘dead’ in the eyes. Yes it gets rid of crows feet but it creates wrinkles under the eye instead as you compensate and these look worse and are far harder to treat. I also started crinkling my upper eyelids to compensate. I was very happy when it wore off and my crows feet came back. I looked all smiley again.

I went to a very good doctor and I still had slight eyelid droop. Botox is just not for me.
I think it tends to look good on most people for a year or so then starts to look strange..

shecamefromgreece · 30/12/2018 20:56

Don't worry if your eyebrows do end up a bit spocky. When you go for your two week check up they can put a tiny bit in to bring them down.
I always have to have this done.

crazycatgal · 01/01/2019 12:33

Does anyone recommend preventative botox and which areas you would get this in?

I turn 25 this month and have no lines apart from two tiny lines on my forehead that only I can see.

I'm wondering if it is actually worth starting early or whether people would recommend waiting until I start getting fine lines?

Btw you look great so far OP Smile

I have had Botox at 33 and love the results, my face, my decision!
I had 11's done and forehead, at the same time due to deep lines at the side of my mouth had filler in my cheeks to lift slightly, it's also had a softening effect on my crows feet, yet when I smile I still have movement around my eyes. For me it's the perfect balance

Thisismyhappyface · 01/01/2019 16:26

Really happy with the results 4 days in- eyebrows quite pointy when I raise them, so will have a bit more to soften that when I go back. DH says I look happier which was my main aim! I have a bit of a bruise which I want expecting though- although I do bruise incredibly easily.

Looks good! I'd be interested to see a front photo of how it's affected your crows feet as I hadn't realised Botox could be used there and I'm tempted from seeing your side photos!

Hezz · 02/01/2019 17:17

Elizabethtailor · 02/01/2019 18:46

Interestingly you appear to have gone from hooded eye to unhooded eye. Has it lifted your eyebrows and skin under up?

BumbleBeee69 · 03/01/2019 03:10

OMG OP you look fantastic Flowers

Thisismyhappyface · 03/01/2019 08:44

@Milliy, yes, it does seem to have changed that area, not sure how but DH commented that eyes seemed more open.

Thanks bumblebee, I'm really happy with it!

@Twistering, please tell us more about the tear trough fillers.
Which filler did you have, etc..

ChampooPapi · 05/01/2019 09:49

@Thisismyhappyface your skin looks amazing, it has made a huge difference to the texture as well as the lines.

What are peoples thoughts on 'preventative botox' or some call it baby botox. Where you have a little bit to prevent lines forming, like upper lip or 11 lines

Ollivander84 · 05/01/2019 12:18

This thread has made me book in again Grin mine was last done in July so I'm definitely due for some!

princessTiasmum · 05/01/2019 12:49

AmIAweed please can you tell me more about the cheekfillers, do they help to lift lower face at all,
Booked in next week for same, but i would like to know what effect they have, am older than you though
Also how much was put in?

HeyLala · 05/01/2019 13:01

I've had Botox before and love it. I'm now due a top up but I'm now on blood thinners. So I think I will bruise much more easily.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Veterinari · 05/01/2019 17:31

Unfortunately I didn’t take before pics but I went for my 14 day review today. The two areas they treated originally (crows feet and upper forehead) have worked brilliantly but I have a deep wrinkle just above my eyebrows which wasn’t affected so they’ve injected across the eyebrow muscle area too. They’ve said this might open up my eyes too which would be nice. Fingers crossed

BumbleBeee69 · 05/01/2019 18:23

can anyone explain to me what happens, when you need a top up? ie where does the original botox actually go? and do you need more botox with each touch up? im so interested and desperate to try it but Im uninformed too Flowers

MyArris · 05/01/2019 19:02

Heylala I'm on aspirin until the cardiologist decides what's causing my heart issues so that's meant to thin the blood. I had Botox done around the first week in December. I did get some bruising, most noticeably on the left hand side of my forehead. It was quite noticeable unfortunately but I managed to get away with it by using concealer and draping my fringe over it.

It has put me off having it again though. Pre-aspirin I never had any bruising.

HeyLala · 05/01/2019 23:22

Thanks MyArris.

That's what I thought. I've not had bruising before. Might need to get it done when I can work from home for a few days then!!
