I took the plunge yesterday and had my first botox session.

I thought it might be useful to others thinking about it to post some progress pictures as the effects set in.

Good for you OP. Looking forward to reading about how it goes in your diary posts.

HisBetterHalf · 29/12/2018 15:23

Hi OP, which areas did you have done? Did it hurt?

Thisismyhappyface · 29/12/2018 15:25

Forehead lines, between brows and crows feet. It wasn't totally pain free, but was fine. I have some slight bruising, but easily covered with make up.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking mid 40s or 50s! I expressed myself badly. I’d much rather look fabulous and 55 than a bit ropey and 35 Grin but I think I’d feel frustrated if I’d spent £££ and undertaken the risk/pain of Botox and made myself look older as Lindsay Lohan did a few years ago (sorry Lindsay). I’m not saying that all Botox has that effect.

christmasfoof · 29/12/2018 17:49

@Twistering honestly, it took until my third go at Botox until I was happy. First time my eyelid drooped a bit, second time I got Spock eyebrows, then the third time - photo attached - I was happy with the results once they settled.

Totally agree with you about the 10-14 day settling period, and the top up appointment is important for minor corrections.

So when you said
Not judging anyone but it’s not an actual necessity for anyone you were literally just giving us all advice? Wow thanks. Will rule it off my ‘survival essentials list’ now that you’ve kindly pointed out that it’s not a necessity. Super helpful, thanks.

Ahoydelboy do feel free to leave anytime you wish - you seem to only be on this thread to slag off the choices of strangers on the internet, which have no impact on your life. It seems an odd thing to get so vitriolic about. Of course you don’t like the term ‘judgement’ but you clearly are making negative judgements about the choices that strangers on the internet make, and which do not affect you in any way whatsoever. You seem very angry about things that have zero impact on you. Perhaps leaving would help?

BlueSatsuma · 29/12/2018 18:14

Is it weird to bet Botox just between the eyebrows and not all over the forehead?

timetochuckthetree · 29/12/2018 18:34

I've been having Botox for 10 years, every 6 months. I'm early 50's, smoked and sunbathed a lot in the past.
Just for my over pronounced 11's, I hated looking as if I was scowling all the time.
Last time I had a bit in my crows feet but I'm not sure if made much difference.

Writersblock2 · 29/12/2018 18:38

I love Botox! Not allowing myself another session until I’ve dropped some pounds (it’s my motivation) but can’t wait to go back to it.

Thisismyhappyface · 29/12/2018 19:08

christmasfoof you look amazing!

Fingers crossed mine works as well as that.

Did you change your skincare at all? I'm planning to start retinol to try to help shift the deep lines.

“were literally just giving us all advice? Wow thanks. Will rule it off my ‘survival essentials list’ now that you’ve kindly pointed out that it’s not a necessity. Super helpful, thanks.“

Plenty of people talk about needing/not needing it. That’s what i was responding too.

Judging is “you got botox therefore you are dumb” not “it’s not necessary.”

And wind your neck in, there’s no need to be so sarcastic. It just makes you come across as a bit silly.

expatinspain · 29/12/2018 20:47

Following!! I had an appt booked two years ago, but chickened out after reading about eyelid droop. I was only going to have my 11s done.

Penguin34 · 29/12/2018 21:09

I first had Botox on my frown lines when I was 27 as they were very pronounced.
It used to last about 10 months then. A couple of years later I had my whole forehead and then last year I had my crows feet done (I'm 35 now) it lasts about 6 months.

I love it! I haven't had it for just over a year now as I fell pregnant just after my last treatment. Even though it's been a while and all the Botox has gone I still have less movement in my forehead (so lines) than before because of the muscle memory, crows feet are back to normal though.
Other half said he's pay for Botox for Xmas but I only had my baby 4 months ago and I still feel huge so I don't see the point, will do by the summer though.

Can take up to 2 weeks so show full effect and I always have a follow up apt to perfect it.

When I've had my Botox everyone says I look really Well.

Veterinari · 29/12/2018 21:11

Ah so you get to judge what strangers on the internet need or don’t need? Or what we talk about needing? Or how sarcastic we should or should not be? Gosh that does sound like an exhausting role - You must be very important IAmAlwaysLikeThis

How about if you have nothing constructive or relevant to contribute, you could simply leave us consenting adults to make our own decisions and to chat about those without your unsolicited input?

Veterinari · 29/12/2018 21:16

I’ve definitely noticed a difference! My frown lines were quite low down - just above my eyebrows so my consultant was very cautious with the Botox (to avoid eyebrow droop) and told me that it would def need tweaking at 14 days. But despite this i’ve Definitely noticed a significant improvement in the lines and no weird side effects Smile

My crows feet are definitely reduced also, but it’s made me more aware of the little creases directly under my eyes now Hmm not sure I can fo much about them!

I’m feeling quite lucky as it seems a few people have had other effects.

What about Botox at 31?

Veterinari · 29/12/2018 21:24

If you truly are AlwaysLikeThis, it must be exhausting. And terrible for your blood pressure.

Veterinari · 29/12/2018 21:29

red it depends on the lines - it’s a preventative treatment so you want to start it before the lines become static - but it depends on the severity of the wrinkles, genetics etc. This article may help

Thisismyhappyface · 29/12/2018 21:29

Bloody hell Iamalwayslikethis, does it really matter what other people choose to do to their faces?

flintfoxy · 29/12/2018 21:34

Why don't the people who don't think botox is a good idea not follow or comment on the thread?! Now there is an ideaHmm

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 29/12/2018 21:34

I’d like to have Botox. I’m losing weight and since I reached the 6stone lost mark my wrinkles have become more noticeable. I’m 42 and always had good skin but think the fat must have been padding them out. Blush

Interested to see how yours works.

Zazu44 · 29/12/2018 21:37

Is it very expensive?
