Because I think it would be brilliant if the RF had a member who was undeniably of a different ethnicity and they were seen to welcome him or her with open arms. Good for them and good for the country.

I can't decide if I like Marie's dress or not. It's fabulously early 2000s.

Not sure I like Mary or Marie's dresses this evening. Even that retrospective of Mary's outfits left me cold, and I usually like her style. Maybe 2018 wasn't her best year.

The Danes have all disappointed tonight. I didn't think that was possible. Boo.

Marie looks like she is wearing a gold chain mail turtle neck. That ugly elephant chain has no natural place to sit.
Mary’s dress looks sad and drab. The colour does nothing for her.
Queen Margarethe, in coral lace. I know she likes colour, but she does not look stylish, just garish.

I wonder what will happen to the current Emperor and Empress of Japan after they abdicate in a few months. Wonder if they will still attend state events like ex Queen Bee, or whether they will gracefully retire like PP.

Queen Alexandra was beautiful well into old age and something of a long-suffering wife to Edward VII. Queen Mary was not but she was the last word in regal and could wear copious amounts of jewellery without ever looking overdressed!

The Tsarina was beautiful too but always looked so sad in photos. She was a tragic character really, and the family didn't deserve to die the way they did.

Well apart from the Queen attending church over the festive season it has all gone a bit quiet on the style and beauty front with the younger Royals. I wonder if we are going to see them again in January.

Wow curly. Those pearls great pics, thank you. She’s almost like Queen Elizabeth I. In that photo. What strikes me is the thought that women couldn’t breathe because of the corset, and couldn’t speak because of the choker necklaces. That photo shouts to me “woman, know your place!”

Very detailed article about Queen Alexandra’s jewellery it’s a shame that some has disappeared as it was bequeathed to her granddaughter Princess Maud, the Princess Royal. ( who was interestingly born Lady Maud, as I presume Queen Victoria, her greatgrandmother was still alive. You know letters patent and all that).

Interesting point about the corset and jewels. Even today, the royal ladies are (self)censored and speak through their appearance.
