Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Happy new year!

I can't see M & H doing the steps thing, though I could be wrong. However:

A. They are in a different position to W & K
B. The press won't exactly have endeared themselves with their recent stories, so why should they parade for them?
C. The DM etc would use it against Megan (no doubt they will do the same if she doesn't but at least she'll be in comfortable shoes).
D. Megan is a feminist, and I don't think that the steps parade is particularly female friendly... I don't blame W & K for feeling they have to but it's not a female-friendly thing to do, the poor woman.

I hope to god they eschew the steps ridiculousness and perhaps release a nice picture which has been taken at their leisure and convenience. Maybe even two! But ones taken when they're ready. And that they'll be left alone to bond and get over the birth and all that, which is the least any new parents should be able to do.

CranberryBucksFizz · 01/01/2019 13:04

I think they will do a black and white photo release (which will be slated by the naysayers Hmm). Harry will speak to press on the steps but they will leave privately.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/01/2019 13:12

Didn't Andrew and Fergie and Sophie and Edward (with James not Louise) all do the steps thing? Let's face it, hey'll be damned if they do and damned if they don't!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 01/01/2019 13:13

Though part of me would like to see Meghan do it in yoga pants and Uggs, with baby in a stretchy sling!

Queen the design team at Givenchey will start work on that outfit in the morning Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/01/2019 13:34

Happy New all. I wore my own "party antlers" last night. Sadly they are literally just that. Party antlers.

Thanks for the latest Max links Curly. She is just a joy isn't she?

The DM has pointed out that Kate was seen wearing Louise's coat two years ago.

I wonder if it's the same one?!

How lucky to be a teenager and benefit from your older cousins and their wives in terms of designer clothes!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 01/01/2019 14:01

Would love it if it was Kate's coat!

I'm going to be bullish and say they will do the steps thing. I think Meghan knows what the press want (and good for her) and sometimes giving them their pic 'buys' you some quiet time afterwards...

And she will look amazing and new mothers everywhere will weep Grin

FATEdestiny · 01/01/2019 14:36

Meghan and Harry's baby will be the first (ever?) mixed race member of the royal family. The birth and subsequent first photographs will be very, very significant for that reason. So to my mind there is no question, there will definitely be a steps and photo opportunity moment.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/01/2019 15:01

Poor Meghan. Even Fergie got to be a "breath of fresh air" for longer.

Becles · 01/01/2019 15:27

@DontCallMeCharlotte I'm coveting those antlers. Where did you get them from?

SirVixofVixHall · 01/01/2019 15:42

Not the first mixed race royal, there was a mixed race female member a few centuries back, i remember it being discussed when Harry and Meghan got engaged. I’ll try and find out more.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/01/2019 15:46

Queen Charlotte is who I was thinking of, although apparently no-one seems certain either way.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/01/2019 15:46

That's Queen Charlotte but she wasn't mixed-race. She had one ancestor who lived in the 11th or 12th century who might have had African blood, but the rest is just conjecture.

Becles

A friend left them on Christmas Day so I have claimed them!

So I don't know where they're from but these are similar. (I could ask her but then I'd have to give them back! Shock)

Paradyning · 01/01/2019 16:31

Lady Louise isn't wearing Kate's coat. It's just from the same shop and is a similar colour - amazing what they make click bait out of.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 01/01/2019 17:10

I adore Maxima's tiaras. They are so extra!! I want them all. Or just any tiara will do! Grin

IdaBWells · 01/01/2019 17:18

I agree that C&W are in a different position. I would love to think a mother in the middle of an insane amount of (critical) media attention would put the needs of herself, her infant and spouse first and release photos - or have a photocall - when probably rested and good and ready.

Wonder if Eugenie and Jack decide to start a family in 2019 Bear

MotherofPearl · 01/01/2019 17:22

Just had time to properly look at Curly's links. Max's tiaras are truly amazing. She has such a vivacious way about her.

PawneeParksDept · 01/01/2019 17:31

I may have inadvertently outed my username about an hour ago, so I'm going to NC, which is something I like to do every six months anyway.

Just announcing it on 2 threads were I am a regular face, I will still be here just under another name.

See you after the outfit change Grin

Give us a nod and a wink so we know it's you @PawneeParksDept!

You'll have to give us a clue so we'll know it's you!

Haworthia · 01/01/2019 18:26

I’m absolutely certain that Harry & Megs will show the baby off outside the hospital. It’s just what the Royals do, bearing in mind how keen they are to keep Joe Public on their side (the RF that is, not H&M individually).

gingercat02 · 01/01/2019 19:05

I think Meghan will home birth, she is reported as having talked about it pre Harry and home births are actually the norm for the Royals (all be it with a full obstetric team in the wings)
Harry may or may not make a statement but I think she will huddle up with the baby for a while and we won't see him/her for a week or so

The Japanese new year gala has begun.

I always think their diamonds are so 'white' they look like paste.
