I just can't make it look nice, it either looks like I'm not wearing any makeup, or just droopy eyed. Please does anyone have any tips, what am I doing wrong? Is my face just too old to retain makeup properly? I can't do eyeliner nicely because the skin is too crinkly and impossible to "draw" on. And my brow is dropped down. Perhaps I should start with some BOTOX?

If you’re going somewhere fancy, pop on some subtle false lashes. They’ll make your eyes pop so much you’ll be surprised. I don’t think you need botox. You could treat yourself to some (good) lash extensions. Good=expensive most of the time and individual is more subtle than hybrid or Russian lashes. If you go for cheaper extensions they’ll be heavy and uncomfortable so do your research if you decide to do this.

And your brows are a lovely shape!

keepmoving · 22/12/2018 19:05

Try tight liner technique to apply liner. Makes lashes look thicker and you look "groomed"

NationalShiteDay · 22/12/2018 19:06

Oooooh mine look like that. I love your eyebrows.

Jelly please tell me more about lashes!!

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:07

Thank you! They are tattooed believe it or not. She completely reshaped them for me, they used to be lower down and tapdpole like! Hadn't thought of false lashes, I always think they are for the likes of my DDs. What about LVL lashes, would that be a good idea?

Looks nice! Perhaps some mascara / more mascara?

Wineloffa · 22/12/2018 19:08

I second some false lashes, they will open your eyes up.

Also popping a darker coloured eye shadow into the back of your eye socket will also bring your eyes out.

Apileofballyhoo · 22/12/2018 19:08

Try an eyelash growth serum.

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:09

I've heard of tight lining and will Google it, but I think it involves lining on the waterline which I hate doing because it makes my eyes water.

Use a blendable chunky dark brown eyeliner and blend it into the lash line with your finger rather than drawing it on as it catches and is hard to get right. The eyeshadow colour is nice. Use some lash curlers before you apply a curling mascara to lift the lashes. Brows and skin look great.

Lattesforlife · 22/12/2018 19:10

Really natural eyelashe extensions would really help. You have lovely eyes though, please don’t worry Flowers

Apileofballyhoo · 22/12/2018 19:10

I think there's even a mascara that includes one - ask on the skincare thread with the elephant in the title. V knowledgeable posters on there.

FWIW I think your eye makeup looks lovely.

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:10

I don't need my lashes to grow longer as actually they are long. Really I need them thicker. I have got mascara on, quite a lot really, but it doesn't make any difference I don't think. Perhaps I need to curl my lashes more.

Try adding eyeshadow to the hooded eye part. It really opens the eyes and a little under neath

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:12

Thank you Thanks

Have you tried going to bobbi brown for a consulation? You might like their eyeshadow crayons/ eyeshadow creams. You put them on in a windscreen wiper movement, then eyeliner and mascara and off you go.

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:14

Actually I'm not wearing any eyeshadow, just concealer

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 19:17

I'm no good at eyeshadow, honestly no good at all. My DD has every kind under the sun so I could easily raid her supplies, but wouldn't know where to start. Yes perhaps I will go back to the Bobbi Brown counter. They were very helpful when selling me under eye concealer.

I think you need to use a good eyelash curler. It will make all the difference. I use shu umera. Never found one to compare

Apileofballyhoo · 22/12/2018 19:33

Definitely ask on the skincare thread they'll know what works for curling and appearing thicker too!

Grinchly · 22/12/2018 19:39

Did you know you have a telly in your pupil OP Shock

No clue on make up. Sorry.

gemsparkle84 · 22/12/2018 19:43

A good eye shadow primer (urban decay one is good) helps shadow stay on. I think you have beautiful eyes. My lids are 'hooded' where as yours are actually an amazing shape for applying eye shadow. Learn a few tricks on YouTube or go to a lesson (if you have time) and you'll be good to go.

NigellasGuest · 22/12/2018 20:05

A telly?!

Yes I know there's loads of lessons on YouTube but I just don't know where to start..... i would willingly go to a lesson but where? Bobbi Brown counter?

I've posted on the skincare thread btw. Didnt think of that because my skincare is sorted, but if they give makeup advice too that is fab!

You have a lovely eye.

I feel that a medium brown eyeshadow blended softly like a cat's eye flick might look quite nice. Or just brown/ violet/ blue/ green/ teal eyeshadow generally would look nice with or without false eyelashes.

I think you could also try to draw a thicker like if possible using a felt tip liner pen and stamp it on almost in multiple places rather than draw a straight line to get a more pronounced line.

OHolyNightOwl · 22/12/2018 20:17

I think a more volumising and curling mascara mascara would make a big difference. Eyeko Black Magic is brilliant.
Also line the eye the whole way at the top, going thicker with a flick at the end.
You could try with a bronze-brown to bring out your eye colour even more.
