People who waft about in lovely loungewear, teach me your ways..

I think I have cracked workwear (silk blouses, wide leg trousers and the occasional statement item like a leather skirt) but look like an utter frump around the house. Once I get home from work, I end up putting on the same old tracksuit bottoms and raggedy jumper. It makes me feel like a complete slob. I’d really like to be able to waft around the house wearing something effortlessly comfortable and still manage to look slightly stylish.

I’ve tried Hush joggers and harems, but to be honest they just don’t suit me – I prefer wide leg trousers or leggings, because a loose cut and cuffed ankle looks ridiculous with slippers, to say nothing of socks...! and whilst a cashmere loungewear set sounds lovely, I know I would get toothpaste down it in half a day.

What do you all wear for Netflix marathons and lazy evenings at home? Please help me find some warm, comfy and practical ‘lounging about’ clothes that will wear well, aren’t made of nylon fleece and will help me feel a bit more together. Flowers

I have some lovely very wide leg jersey trousers with a high roll over waistband from Me and Em that are comfy yet reasonably elegant.

Annebronte · 04/11/2018 10:27

Just checked: they still have them. They’re called palazzo pants and are in their loungewear section. £59. Can’t do links, sorry.

Racecardriver · 04/11/2018 10:51

Have a look at oysho.

Racecardriver · 04/11/2018 10:54

They do some lovely silk sets

I’d forgotten about me and em, what do you all think of these trousers? (Apart from crazy price..) www.meandem.com/satin-track-pant-black

And never heard of Oysho racecardriver but those pjs are lovely!!

From the absolute opposite end of the price spectrum, i r eally like primark.pjs.

Not the character or fleece sets, but the mix and match bottoms and tops. I have some lovely silky feeling jersey wide legs trousers from there that i mix with a vest or plain long sleeve rib top dependant on temperature.

TheWombat · 04/11/2018 11:39

That sounds lovely lwmommy, I had some primark pjs ages ago, I’d forgotten that they were actually quite good quality..
Also I found this pj site which might be interesting for other people hunting for comfy clothes.. www.lazewear.com

M&S have cashmere lounge wear in at the moment, which looks lovely.

onlyconnect · 04/11/2018 12:56

I really like those Me and Em trousers

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 04/11/2018 13:02

I have a few cashmere lounge wear set on rotation that I love. Cosy and comfortable.

TantricTwist · 04/11/2018 13:09

I wear my comfy Mom jeans around the house with any old T-shirt or hoody these days so that I feel dressed and alive and not like 'Oblomov'.

I have bought lounge wear from Uniqlo and have a lovely pair of red soft thin viscose PJ's from M&S I also like to wear alot till I feel I should change into the above mentioned.

Having had said M&S PJ's for quite a few years now I have just bought, to lounge around in, a satin Pajama set and matching long satin kimono.

SputnikBear · 04/11/2018 13:23

In the summer I waft around the house in a maxi kaftan feeling like Elizabeth Taylor. In the winter I wear plain legging type bottoms with a plain soft sweater or hoody in a neutral colour.

TantricTwist · 04/11/2018 13:29

Oooo yes I love my Kaftans in the summer, esp the hot summer just gone.

ElspethFlashman · 04/11/2018 14:41

Check out Misha Lounge on ASOS. They have lovely stuff.

MaisyPops · 04/11/2018 14:44

lwmommy
I agree. They have sone lovely soft loungeewear that is really comfy.
Asda do some nice bits on a budget too.
Otherwise I'm a fan of leggings and sloppy jumpers.

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 04/11/2018 14:54

I'm currently wafting slobbing on the sofa in Next check, wide leg pj bottoms with a vest top and a waterfall cardi.

Fireballfriends · 04/11/2018 15:01

Ooh thank you for starting this thread - watching with interest! I usually wear mom jeans and t-shirts/woolly jumpers and would love some glam Loungewear.

lulla12345 · 04/11/2018 15:36

Zara home website has loungewear. Lots of cotton modal trousers and silky looking pieces.

Gah81 · 04/11/2018 17:03

Don't discount vintage silk kimonos - they are often huge, thick and excellent for swaddling yourself in (and surprisingly warm). Not hugely expensive either (think around £70 for one from the 70s) for the quality.

I get mine from etsy and even if I'm wearing a face mask with my hair pulled into a topknot and painting my nails, they make me feel glamorous while also being very comfortable.

musicmum75 · 04/11/2018 17:10

Try BAM Bamboo clothing. I love their stuff for lounging around in. So soft and comfy.

PiggeryPorcombe · 04/11/2018 17:24

I’m currently sporting m&s straight-leg joggers here and a breton. Feels like pjs but looks nicer. I also have swapped my bra for a soft crop top but that ruins the “ok to answer the front door” effect of the rest of the outfit Grin

MrsFionaCharming · 04/11/2018 17:59

There’s a charity supporting women who produce ‘punjamis’ , I haven’t bought any but I’d really like some.

MrsFionaCharming · 04/11/2018 18:00

Sorry, punjammies.

TheWombat · 04/11/2018 18:43

These are all exactly the kind of thing I meant! Thank you very much expert wafters. I think I’ll go in at the budget end to start with and once I am a wafting pro I will attempt cashmere pjs. The M&S ones (and Zara) do look fabulous, I am tempted..
