Matching undies - do you bother?

For the last few years, I've been buying into the advertising and purchasing matching bras and knickers. But now I'm beginning to think - is it worth it?

The matching knickers are usually uncomfortable, don't wash well, and cost about £15 for one pair of pants, all in the quest to look attractive in our smalls. I'm starting to wonder whether it's better to just buy a multi-pack of M&S cotton knickers and be comfortable with less risk of thrush!

Do you bother to match, or do most thing it's not worth the bother?

Not since my teens. Couldn't be bothered with it, and the matching knickers always look really uncomfortable.

Racecardriver · 13/10/2018 18:43

I do if the pants are nice. Sometimes I like to wear complimentary pants but not matching. But usually I don't bother.

HildaZelda · 13/10/2018 19:45

Oh yes, matching sets. I'm only a 32a/b though so can get sets in Primark for about a fiver.

Chanelprincess · 13/10/2018 19:48

Always matching sets. I'll mix and match different styles of bras and knickers from the same range though, depending on what I'm wearing.

Fairylea · 13/10/2018 19:51

Never. I like plain black or white cotton knickers. The ones that match bras are always so uncomfortable.

marcopront · 13/10/2018 19:55

Nope.
I do try and match my bra to whatever I am wearing but the knickers will be whatever I pick up.
I remember being amazed at a friend buying an uncomfortable pair of knickers in exactly the same black lace as her bra rather than the more comfortable ones in a similar black lace. I felt if a man was seeing me in my underwear I wouldn't want him to be that interested in the exact black lace.

SweetPeaPods · 13/10/2018 19:56

I have the same bra in nude and black which I tend to rotate more than the others. So I bought a few multipacks of nude and black pants so tend to match (colour more than style) more than not but not religiously.

DramaAlpaca · 13/10/2018 19:58

Nope. I spend quite a bit on fabulous well fitting bras, but wear them with good old M&S knickers.

missbehaving1000 · 13/10/2018 19:59

My outfit dictates the undies!

I do feel better, more confident & sexier when they match... but if I've got black bottoms on and a light top then black knickers and a light bra it is!

I cringe when I see white jeans/black thong, or white vest/black bra. I don't think it looks nice at all!

LeticiaDejeuner · 13/10/2018 19:59

In my 20s, yes absolutely, when I had plenty of disposable income, a great body and lots of fun places to go and a succession of different boyfriends.

Since motherhood and a settled longterm partnership... no! Although like to think I might again one day, when my body stops changing shape all the time...

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 13/10/2018 20:07

Most of the time. On the outside I am a slob - unkempt hair, baggy moth eaten tops, paint marked jeans, glasses, no makeup etc. But underneath, I like my underwear to match.

Kool4katz · 13/10/2018 20:17

No, never. I have zero interest in frilly stuff so I wear ancient bras and knickers until they get holes in, then some. I think I own a few pairs of pretty undies but they're tucked at the back of the drawer somewhere.

elQuintoConyo · 13/10/2018 20:26

I have neither the time nor the money for that shit. Wore matching stuff in my late teens/early 20s but my bloody hell the pants were always scratchy and sweaty. My poor muff.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/10/2018 20:42

Always. I buy a pair of shorts-style knickers and a pair of Brazilian-style knickers for each bra - I usually wear Freya, but I also have a few plain black Triumph bras that I wear with black no-VPL shorts from M&S.

Greenteandchives · 13/10/2018 20:46

Always. I wouldn’t leave the house without matching underwear. I buy a few pairs of knickers in different styles to each bra. It just makes me feel nice under a rather unattractive NHS uniform.

FuzzyShadowChatter · 13/10/2018 20:50

I can see the appeal though I've never bought a matching set.

I have had times when my underwear has pretty much matched my socks which I've found fun.

Parker231 · 13/10/2018 20:51

Always. I buy two pairs of knickers with each bra. Don’t have any difficulty getting comfy sets but never wear non matching.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/10/2018 20:53

Never ever. Have never bought a matching set.

Mayhemmumma · 13/10/2018 20:53

Only buy black and lacy so it all matches...even my cotton mega pants have lacy tops

woodhill · 13/10/2018 20:55

I very rarely buy the matching knickers because they are not very comfortable and I prefer to wear cotton. Also it's expensive enough find a bra let Alone knickers

Dragonglass · 13/10/2018 21:05

I always wear matching sets. It would feel very odd to wear mismatched undies.

LunaTheCat · 13/10/2018 21:11

Mostly no but I do have a few matching sets - which I like to wear when the stars line up.

Raines100 · 13/10/2018 21:14

No! I don't know how people can. Surely your outfits and time of the month dictates? You might need a strapless bra or a white or black one for your top, and nude no vpl pants, or a thong, or period pants on the bottom! Grin

LesLavandes · 13/10/2018 21:18

Always matching when I'm am dressed up

Verbena87 · 13/10/2018 21:27

Hardly ever.
