Anything worth buying in M&S?

I have a £100 gift voucher to spend! Is there anything worth buying right now? I need smart/casual “bottoms” of some description ideally. 5ft 8 and size 16. I hate shopping so any recommendations very appreciated!

basics at m&s are greatplain tunics, tops and sculpt&lift jeans. shoes (footglove) as well

Angelil · 25/09/2018 07:40

I agree with the jeggings (I love mine...have so many pairs and can't wait to get back into them after pregnancy!!) and beauty hall suggestions.

Undercoverbanana · 25/09/2018 07:43

Wait for the sale and stock up on high impact running bras.

LittleMissedTheSunshine · 25/09/2018 07:44

M and S is always good for basics IMO. Black leggings, big pants, vests etc. Its the other stuff they often get wrong.

bellabasset · 25/09/2018 07:46

You could save it for buying Christmas presents or food. M&S shoes not as good as they have been.

nocoriander · 25/09/2018 07:51

I would buy cashmere, thermal tops or bed linen.

speakout · 25/09/2018 07:56

I'd sell the gift card and shop elsewhere. Honesty. You could get £90 on ebay or sell it to a friend. You would get far better stuff at greater value elsewhere. OH won a £100 M&S gift card last year in a work raffle, I tried to persuade him to sell it, but he wanted to buy Christmas food items and treats. It was a disappointment- he later said I was right- we could have bought a lot more and better quality with cash elsewhere.

I've got a perfectly good pair of bland grey work trousers from M&S. Really comfortable and have got through 6 months of sitting on my arse heavy wear so far.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 25/09/2018 08:02

Oops that posted before I had finished my suggestions. How about some things for the kitchen - glasses or cutlery or pots and pans and some things for baking? Or maybe some cushions or sheets and bed linens? I love their sheets - good quality and high cotton count.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 25/09/2018 08:02

No idea how that posted twice! Sorry about that OP.

They do lovely Spanish chickpeas in a glass jar in the food speciality dept. Food is the only thing I buy in M & S these days.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/09/2018 08:06

Their cashmere is a competitively priced and as good as more expensive ones from John Lewis or Boden etc. I love their polo neck thermal vest tops and have loads of them. As others have said, Christmas stock will be here soon for some indulgent decorations.

user187656748 · 25/09/2018 08:08

Their cashmere is good. I'm currently sat here in my lovely pure cashmere M&S dressing gown and PJs. Its lasted really well, no bobbling after frequent use for 3 years and super soft.

CalonGlas · 25/09/2018 08:13

M&S homeware is really lovely - their cushions and throws look a lot more expensive than they are. Like others, I’d save it for the Christmas decorations/candles and have a splurge.

Rudgie47 · 25/09/2018 08:14

Bras and underwear.I think their bras are generally good.

CountersurfingPerf · 25/09/2018 08:21

These are my new favourite ‘bottoms’. Flattering for my size 14 and retain their shape (can get 2 days out of them) www.marksandspencer.com/slim-leg-trousers/p/p60125687?image=SD_01_T59_5057_EE_X_EC_90&color=BOTTLEGREEN&prevPage=plp&pdpredirect

Nuxe oil

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 25/09/2018 08:27

not bottoms, but DD1 has just bought these boots and they are great.

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2018 08:48

I was quite surprised at a smaller one in Tunbridge Wells they were doing quite a few clothes that I liked Grin There was a pretty pleated skirt which I held against me , it almost reached my ankles FGS I'm not that short! Are maxi skirts back in fashion? Their underwear is usually good with lots of styles etc, to choose from. I defy ANYONE to find some knicks or a bra or two that they don't like.

Loonoon · 25/09/2018 08:52

As a 32 FF woman I find it impossible to buy a bra that doesn’t give me double boobs in M&S. I bought a leopard print cashmere cardigan there last week that I love but only time will tell how it washes.

user1457017537 · 25/09/2018 08:57

I disagree re M&S cashmere I think it is poor quality for the price and goes fluffy and bobbly really quick. Also odd colours too.

ppeatfruit · 25/09/2018 08:58

Yes Loon I noticed a LOT of leopard prints in there , did they ever go out of fashion?
