Hyped products you hated?!

Just that really. I bought the IT cosmetics cc cream and am really disappointed. Hard to blend, I don’t like the finish and the colour matching isn’t great. I read so many positive reviews and don’t understand the fuss. And it’s fairly pricey!

What hyped products did you not like?

Footner. Dried my feet out and made them worse than they were before, even with copious amounts of moisturiser.

Urban decay. Most expensive waste of money.

Too Faced Better Than Sex (waterproof) mascara - the woman in Sephora told me it was the best mascara on the market. Whereas I found it the worst mascara I have ever tried. It went straight in the bin the next day.

Agree with Boots Curl Creme, even the tiniest amount gives me lanky rat tail hair.

Garnier micellar water- feels like paint-stripper on my skin.

Tubing mascaras, total pain to remove.

Charlotte tilbury pillow talk lipstick
Meant to suit everyone but made me look ill and my teeth look yellower

Here with the micellar water too. Spots every freaking time with that crap. Didn’t take nowt off the face either

Surprise at the curl secret comment - I utterly love mine

I love the BaByliss Curl Secret and the Big Hair.

I totally agree that Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is awful. Thick and over scented, it is like trying to rub Sudocreme on the face. In fact I dislike most CT products I’ve used, the Chamelon eye crayons dry out and go scratchy and the mascara flakes off. I love the Amazing Grace lipstick shade but it is very drying.

Benefit Porefessionals - don't care how small it makes my pores, it felt like rubber stretched over my skin (gack!!)

Benefit they're real mascara. So crap on me. And I have fairly long lashes.

FlamingoLass · 15/09/2018 22:26

Simple rich moisturiser meant to be for sensitive skin ??? It burns since they changed it

So funny - I ADORE Benefit They're Real. Honestly the best mascara I've ever tried. Can eyelashes be so different????

The Ordinary retinol, the 2% one. Thin and watery reminded me of Milk of Magnesia and did nothing for my skin whatsoever.

Too Faced 'Better than sex' mascara, just gloopy and horrible. Clearly whoever named it has only ever had shit sex.

Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation, I can always, always tell when someone is wearing it because their skin looks so chalky and rigid. Might as well be embalming fluid.

Chanel lipsticks and nail polishes, really lovely shades but only last a matter of moments.

That Ameliorate cream for ketosis pilaris, I used it religiously for 6 weeks on my upper arms and it made zero difference.

Any sort of fake tan, it smells so bad and always looks a horrible orangey colour.

Sparkly sandals, I think that they are supposed to look glamorous, but always look cheap regardless of how much they cost - give me saltwaters and bikenstocks any day.

Uggs - for someone as comfort driven as I am, I just never got it. I love sheepskin slippers but don't understand how they work as a winter boots. Also, they almost always do that thing where one foot slumps off the sole.

Pixi Glow Tonic - can't see any benefit or different

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara - smudges and stays wet on me

Birks - they give me backache

Saltwaters - they give me blisters, hard and flat

Benefit mascaras and porefessional
Doll 10 foundation (was orange)
Laura Geller foundation (glitter)
Bare minerals prime (always breaks me out)
Liz Earle (breaks me out)
Soap and glory (most products have been disappointing)

I came on to mention the Liz Earle cleanser too - interesting how many others have mentioned it.

'better than sex' mascara (think it's Too Faced?) is not better than anything. My £3 Collection mascara was 10x better than that.

Quite a few makeup items from Benefit too - coralista blusher, the boing concealer - both rubbish.

Tried Liz Earle 20 yrs ago as I had/have sensitive skin and it gave me a horrible reaction. I cringe when I see it recommended so much. Same with Simple products. They should be Ok, ingredients are often not that bad but I always get a reaction.

Tried the Boots tubing mascara that was raved about and it took nearly all my eyelashes with it after a few uses. They haven't grown back properly even now, after (probably) two years.

I've never owned one personally but dyson hairdryers seemed a bit emperor's new clothes. My hair salon trialled them & hairdresser said she hated it. They have since disappeared and reverted back to normal hairdryers.

Huda beauty desert dusk palette- biggest waste of money not even pigmented for almost £60

Urban decay naked palettes- not pigmented enough and so over hyped

Benefit hoola bronzer- looked to orange on me and I’m warm toned

Kat Von D lock it foundation- horribly thick and oxidised

Saltwater sandals look geeky and a bit sad. Bretons from Joules I find very frumpy.

Chanel nail varnishes are rubbish- who is giving them the rave reviews?

I’m on my third Urban Decay eye pallette as they keep smashing in my make up bag Angry
