I have had enough of it...
Not buying any more nostalgia crapola...

OP posts:
fillyjonk · 09/06/2007 17:50

but its HORRIBLE

I like shabby chic but this stuff is just cheap and tacky

fillyjonk · 09/06/2007 17:51

its meant to be about individuality

and its not, is it, not if EVERYONE has a sodding cath kidston mobile phone cover

expatinscotland · 09/06/2007 17:52

It is pretty naff, filly.

I agree there.

I find it bourgeois, too.

crunchie · 09/06/2007 17:56

expat it is not all thatbad soem some things. The unbella was a gift and everything else I have bought in the sales. The oilcloth bag is a brill beach/camping bag and was about £12, which is good value as it is well made

Oh and my mumm bought me the sewing box for Channukkah last year - I LOVE IT!! no more losing needles

here's my tent
my sewing basket
love this lot too fab stuff

fillyjonk · 09/06/2007 18:04

heres what you do

you go to your local charity shop and say "do you have any sewing baskets"

SockPuppetOfDoom · 09/06/2007 18:05

I do have a small CK umbrella - which was a present, I hasten to add. It's pretty enough, but so small it's more like a doll's parasol.

I rather like the idea of CK, but it's so ubiquitous now, it's just naff. I did go into her shop in Bicester Village, and it all seemed to be Trying Too Hard.

newgirl · 09/06/2007 19:36

i really love the elephant wallpaper cath kidston have for a kids room - i am seriously thinking about it for my dd2 room - on one wall - is it a terrible idea? i cat do links but it is on the website if anyone hsa time to kill!! i was thinking matching fabric blind too with rest of room painted white

DeviousDaffodil · 09/06/2007 19:51

I think it is twee. Yuck.

DeviousDaffodil · 09/06/2007 19:53

Like Emma Bridgwater over priced crap!!!

MadamePlatypus · 09/06/2007 19:56

I think its gone a bit pierre cardin - she has licensed her name to too many things.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 09/06/2007 20:02

I like some, not others. Too easily recognisable as CK. There's a shop in Wimbledon and half the local mummies, it seems, have a CK nappy bag.

jenk1 · 09/06/2007 21:07

well in my defence i only buy in the sales!!

expatinscotland · 09/06/2007 21:33

If anyone gave me Cath Kidston I'd flog it.

milkchocolate · 09/06/2007 21:49

If I had a little lonesome "cottage" by the sea, that is the kind of summery homeware stuff I would go for ..... Yet, I think I would try to source somethign different along the same lines, I like Marimekko better:

DulwichDolly · 09/06/2007 23:00

I uttlerly love Marimekko stuff... "ild prints that lift my spirits..Another great scandi shop on Marylebone High Street SKANDIUM

Also you can buy Marimekko online since very recently!

My finnish friend got me the most gorgeous bag 1o years ago and still being used!

Let's hope it doesn't start being "trendy"now!

francagoestohollywood · 09/06/2007 23:25

I love marimekko. It's always been trnedy in a subtle sort of way.

crunchie · 10/06/2007 00:07

fillyjonk it was a present I wouldn't have bought it at that price, but I really fancied it so my mum bought it

expatinscotland · 10/06/2007 00:09

I'm going to live in a cottage by the 'sea'. WEll, it's not hte see. It's an inlet off of firth. I don't know the geological name for it - must ask someone I know who would.

NO Cath Kidston.

So of course none of you would have wanted to go to the brilliant 70% off sale that I went to in High Wycombe today then? Fan bloodytastic, I had trouble getting my booty to the car.

milkchocolate · 11/06/2007 22:58

LOL, you going to ebay it?

Aloha · 11/06/2007 22:59

How did you find out about it?

handlemecarefully · 11/06/2007 23:01

Find it a bit of a cliche

HuwEdwards · 11/06/2007 23:03

hester · 11/06/2007 23:06

I loathe it.

OK, that may be a bit strong. I think you can get away with one, just one, CK item in your home. Any more is a serious style crime.
