And cost per wear has it been worth it?
My boots about £80 and I've worn them three times (one around the house) so big fat NO! and handbag (also £80 ) never used but I love it

Mines my watch, but I wear that every day. The cost per wear thing is something I've never thought about, interesting!

ToftheB · 05/09/2018 08:42

I really enjoy working out cost per wear for things. It helps me justify spending more on my everyday items (jeans, boots, jumpers) and less on things that are only going to get worn a few times (dresses for fancy events/weddings, smart handbags etc).

I guess my most expensive item is my blue wool jaeger duffel coat. It cost more than I would usually spend on a coat, but it’s lovely to wear and has lasted 3 winters already.

(That’s if you exclude my wedding dress. Cost per wear £800 Confused)

A £400 leather jacket. It's reversible, and buttery soft. I love it more than anything else I own.

Jjacobb · 05/09/2018 10:20

My watch was £3500, I've worn it every day for the past four years and still feel pleasure when I look at it.
My Mulberry Bayswater, I've used three times since I bought it three years ago so not such a good buy.

Atalune · 05/09/2018 10:23

My coat from The Kooples was £400ish I think and wore it probably most databases last winter
, so let’s say 80 days so £5/day. But I will wear it this winter again and maybe even next winter. So I consider that great value for money.

elQuintoConyo · 05/09/2018 10:23

My school uniform was from Harrods, but technically i didn't buy it.

Knee-high boots costing £80 back in 1994.

Wedding dress £100 in 2010.

That's about it.

Chanel 2/55. 6ct Diamond ring..

evilharpy · 05/09/2018 12:28

I don't actually spend that much on clothes and bags as I tend to be lucky and find expensive things second hand for cheap. I have a beautiful Max Mara brown wool jacket that I've worn to death but I think I paid £3.50 for it!

New things I have bought include a lovely new Radley bag for about £110 earlier this year and have used it almost every working day since. And I have a pair of leather knee boots from Evans I bought years ago for about £80 that I've had reheeled and resoled multiple times and they're still going strong. Nearly time to get them out again I think.

The most expensive item I own would be my engagement ring, and the most expensive item I've bought myself is a vintage diamond ring that I spent about £400 on and wear a lot.

ImogenTubbs · 05/09/2018 12:31

I bought a Burberry mac about eight years ago. I had won a £250 Selfridges voucher and had to pay another £300 on top of that. I wear it every spring and autumn and it always looks classic (the check print is confined to the inside!). I love it.

Scabetty · 05/09/2018 12:39

My Tag Heuer watch was £1000 but is worn everyday.

happymummy12345 · 05/09/2018 12:44

My wedding dress is the most expensive thing I've ever worn, cost £1400. Veil was £150, alterations were £100, so £1650 in total. Worth every penny though, my dream come true.

dundee12 · 05/09/2018 14:05

Wedding dress, engagement & wedding ring. Got more wear out of the rings! Most expensive item that I actually wear a lot is my Chanel ballets.

MynameisJune · 05/09/2018 14:10

Chanel 2.55 but I don’t use it a lot so cost per wear is probably £££ wedding and engagement rings where cheap as we married when we weren’t as comfortable as we are now. Wedding dress £2k per wear but DDad paid for that. I’ve got a Bayswater that I use often but probably most expensive thing I’ve worn to death are Dubarry boots as I wear them all winter and they’re a few years old now.

dudsville · 05/09/2018 17:06

Op, you have a bag that you love but never use??????

I have a coat that cost £350 8 years ago. It's had a gamillion wears.

Otherwise I tend not to go for very expensive things. I have several pairs of shoes that were about £100 and get lots of wear.

I have a bag that was about £150, another that was £120, they both get tons of use.

LadyFairfaxSake · 05/09/2018 18:33

Omega Speedmaster but I wear it every day & love it.

TheHonGalahadThreepwood · 05/09/2018 19:16

Wedding dress (£500 second hand plus a bit for alterations). Loved it, totally worth it, though wouldn't have wanted to spend more.
All Saints leather jacket, on sale at I think £150. Love it, though it hasn't got all that many wears as it only looks good over a dress and I also got pregnant soon after buying it. Hoping I will fit into it again.
Couple of evening/cocktail dresses, around the £100-120 mark. Don't get much wear but stay in my wardrobe for years and get trotted out for different events from time to time and always look good.
Apart from that my main expense is shoes, which tend to be totally worth it as good quality ones can be resoled and reheeled and worn for years and years after cheap ones would have been in the bin. I usually spend £80-130 a pair.

Ineedahouse · 05/09/2018 19:25

I didnt buy her but my 3 year old gets carried a lot and she is veery expensive!!

Other than that in my 20s I bought a pair of embroidered gaultier jeans that cost over a week's wages and i still love them 20 years later (although I dont choose to wear them with crop tops anymore)

StealingYourWiFi · 05/09/2018 19:27

Chanel jumbo flap in black caviar leather with silver hardware. Bought at duty free for £1400 many years ago, now retails for an eye watering £4.5k.

Hufflefloof · 05/09/2018 19:28

My Apple Watch. Probably not remotely stylish, but I love the geekness of it

dundee12 · 05/09/2018 19:29

The Chanel price increases are ridiculous. I only have 1 bag but a few pairs of shoes.

StealingYourWiFi · 05/09/2018 19:30

Agreed dundee. I would never pay the prices they charge today!

LemonysSnicket · 05/09/2018 19:30

A Michael Kors grey handbag, £320. It has lost its shape after a few years and is too heavy. Loved it at the time though

loobylou10 · 05/09/2018 19:32

Bayswater bag - used half a dozen times in 2 years but i don’t care. I love it and will have it forever. Tag heuer watch for my 40th birthday, I wear it when we go out so not every day but again, I love it and will always have it.

Peanutbutterjar · 05/09/2018 19:36

Another tag watch here, was £800 but has been worn everyday for 10 years, and I don’t foresee ever needing another watch as it’s such a classic and I love it

CherryPavlova · 05/09/2018 19:49

When I was about 20 I bought a beautiful gold ball gown for an event. It felt terribly extravagant but I felt very special wearing it. It was worth every penny for the hushed looks when I came down the stairs into a crowded hall. I actually wore it several times more in the end. Then the children used it for dressing up and it’s final appearance was as Cinderella in a school musical performance.
I’ve had more expensive things since but never anything that felt so expensive.
