[falls over at budget]

at that price I'd get something made

MissGolightly · 05/06/2007 20:56

another vote for 1 here.

MrsBadger · 05/06/2007 20:56

NB I prefer 1 to either of the other contrast-trim dresses - both are too sparkly

ash6605 · 05/06/2007 20:57

yes i like that one you just posted with the green trim.gold dresses for the bridesmaids would look lovely with it.

ProjectIcarus · 05/06/2007 20:59

agree with mrs b re number 1.

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 21:02

don't want one made because my nana was always going to make my wedding dress and now she can't and i just couldn't bare it

i like the idea of the green on the dress i am going to try that dress on again i think

have you looked at the "maggie brides" photo's to give you a better picture of what these dresses look like on "real brides"?

tortoiseSHELL · 05/06/2007 21:08

looking at the Alfred Angelo website, this one is really pretty

crunchie · 05/06/2007 21:26

IMHO all are hideous, sorry

They all look cheap and nasty and unflattering. Strapless dresses are impractical and tasteless particular;y in church, or are you wearing a cover up??

However looking online I cn't find classy dress Ilike

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 21:31

will be wearing a cover up in church obv

i am asking for opinions so not everyone is going to have positive ones, mn is also as a rule not into big poofy dresses sooo...

If you are anywhere near or in london, try fonthill road near finsbury park tube station. There are factory shops there that supply all the major brands of wedding dresses and are open to retail sales on saturdays - go early take sharp elbows though as it gets crowded. The prices are £50 - 200 Max for the same stuff they supply to the wedding shops.

crunchie · 05/06/2007 21:39

no probs with big dresses, I went for a full skirt, but just doing a quick search everything looks like duvets atm, not a great look IMHO

I mean this guy is meant to be the designer of the year and wtf or hello!! I thought brides were meant to look good hmmm perhaps I am missing something, but this belongs on a loo roll here

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 21:46

I don't like Ian Stuart dresses at all myself a bit too big for me.

used to work opposite this designer, she used to have some amazing dresses in the window of her shop- have a look through the site

nomdeplume · 06/06/2007 14:38

the 1st one in the op is my favourite. I prefer plain.

yogimum · 06/06/2007 15:29

I love the sassi holford dresses. I got the idea of my dress from one of her designs. It cost about the same but it was an original.

Nbg · 06/06/2007 15:31

I love the last one Smurfy.
Got a oldy vintage feel to it.

Peachy · 06/06/2007 15:40

I just announced to DH I wanted to divorce him so I could remarry him in th Monique dress on my link (Sassi) Lol, sadly not entirely convinced

nappyaddict · 06/06/2007 15:44

5 then 1.

ash6605 · 06/06/2007 15:57

ooh,PEACHY that's a great idea-i'm having the same thoughts about the "maisie" one!!

twinsetandpearls · 06/06/2007 16:05

You do need to be incredibly toned to do strapless. Take a brutally honest friend with you.

I love tortoiseshells one peronsally.

FunMumm · 06/06/2007 16:06

I prefer no 5

twinsetandpearls · 06/06/2007 16:15

has the shape of the style you like with some arm coverage

ProjectIcarus · 06/06/2007 16:17

that is lovely twwinset

twinsetandpearls · 06/06/2007 16:19

We are planning our wedding for the distant future and I would wear that , although I may be swamped by it as I am five foot 2.
