Or at the very least good solid wedding lingerie!

Actually you should choose you lingerie before your first dress try on session as that si fundamental to the overall look

CountessDracula · 05/06/2007 19:32

??

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 19:36

Better

what about www.johanna-hehir.com/viewproduct.asp?id=620

like number 1 but with the red trim

lailasmum · 05/06/2007 19:46

I used to work in a posh wedding dress shop, everything was variations on a theme so practically everyone got the same dress even though they were made to measure and they could change quite a lot which I thought was odd. The only thing I learnt from that is how the same dress can look so totally different on different people. Busty girls seem to like the strapless ones but actually they don't always look that flattering specially with the pulled in corseted waist. Sort of look like a they are about to explode. The Joanna Hehir one is very nice.

what height are you? Where do you carry your weight? A good boned bodice that has a point at the front will cover most tums.

My friend had a strapless lace up sottero and had extreme back fat hangover. Didn't tell her obv.

I think some of the pouffy skirts look like chesterfield sofas.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/06/2007 20:05

I like the last one

ProjectIcarus · 05/06/2007 20:08

loooook looook

the worst dress ever

bleugh

ash6605 · 05/06/2007 20:09

The best one is no 2-loved it in white!

MrsBadger · 05/06/2007 20:14

dull dullsy mcdull I'm afraid - they really do get a bit samey after a while

and echo the sofa upholstery comment on the Maggies though.

have you really tried lots of shapes? with a Blunt Friend?

I like this myself

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 20:24

Yes I really have been with a rude friend and my extremely rude mum. Genuinely do suit structured a-line, have also worn many ballgowns in my time - suited the same shape with them.

ProjectIcarus-I disagree-look at "DARCY!!!"

MrsBadger · 05/06/2007 20:26

maybe the first one with a more exciting colour trim then? out of the 46 there must be something striking. Pistachio?

ProjectIcarus · 05/06/2007 20:28

Darcy is shite innit . Doesn't quite have the Ho factor of Leonora though.

greta however looks like a lost can can dancer.

ProjectIcarus · 05/06/2007 20:30

What abour structured a line with sleeves though or a more interesting bodice. No one is going to be looking at the detail of the skirt except you and your Mum. Oh and anyone who is getting married soon.

Strapless can look v dodgy in close up pics imo. Bit erm naked.

ash6605 · 05/06/2007 20:33

I like the burgandy one on that site-imagine it would look lovely in gold or ivory

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 20:35

Well I hate loads of sparkly beading on dresses - based on people i know getting married the sparklier the top of the dress the better and thats not me at all.

I liked sage green with that dress, I love the idea of having something different about the dress but feel that the basic strapless a-line (with a bolero) shape is the most flattering shape.

OP posts:
ProjectIcarus · 05/06/2007 20:38

With bolero - oh yes!

which one with sage?

MrsBadger · 05/06/2007 20:42

the first one with sage trim would look fab (see, I was close when I said pistachio )

Smurfgirl · 05/06/2007 20:50

My bridesmaids are wearing sage or pale gold I think so would go with that I guess.

I actually tried this version of the dress on - www.alfredangelo.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/94c81852-382b-4acb-b080-a3f728b6d8a4/categoryID/32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3 i think its too patterned though?

love this green with this dress - www.alfredangelo.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/22a0b5e6-5a3d-4416-b76b-0ca1c17a231d/categoryID/32e5a88c-cbf1-498f-afcf-dbfca138c5d3

budget is about £1500 which gives me a lot of choice i think

Love no 1, not keen on the others.

Have you tried on any of these dresses yet though?

What I thought I'd love looked dreadful on and what looked fairly plain off was gorgeous when on - IYKWIM!
