Thank you, nearly. I was busy trying to think up a snappy title to do it, and you’ve come up with a brilliant one Grin

Nearlyadoctor · 22/08/2018 15:01

Brummiegirl15 I have tried both the skirts. Have the ruched one from a previous season, it does come up quite short and I’m only 5’4 but can be adjusted depending on how low you want the waist. The jersey crossover is a very similar skirt but just not quite so flattering on me imo.

Bonjour 🖐

I’m currently on holiday so getting the last of the wear out of my summer stuff, swishing about in my green Santana today. My thoughts have turned to lovely autumn clothes though, autumn being generally my favourite season (unless it’s a horrible soggy one like the last couple of years). Has anyone tried the velour (velvet) trousers? They look like they could be really useful- dressed down with knitwear or up a bit with a top or tshirt. Anyone any idea on sizing or fit? I’m rubbish with trousers due to my peariness- I had everything crossed for the bargain frayed star boyfriends but alas the usual story- if they fit my thighs they’re gaping at the waist! I like that lurex skirt too. And a couple of the dresses. And the zebra star jumper but it is a ridiculous price!

Also, I’ve toyed with getting a Tara for a few years but read a lot of reviews about the top being really baggy which put me off. Anyone got a new one? How is the fit?

Laska5772 · 22/08/2018 15:23

Picked up the 2boat neck cashmere jumpers at lunchtime. Just quickly had a peep. They look (worryingly for bank balance) lovely.. will try them later

Brummiegirl15 · 22/08/2018 15:25

nearlyadoctor ooh thanks for the heads up, I'm not even 5 ft 1 but I don't like short skirts as I hate my knees. I suspected the cross over one would be a bit unflattering.

With my loose squishy post 2 kids size 14 tummy, I probably need something that will hold me in a bit more. Plus I need it to be a bit high rise on the waist. To hide said tummy!!

The midi ones are no good as I'm too bloody short

DavetheCat2001 · 22/08/2018 15:27

Non Hush-related question (but am amongst friends so know you won't mind! Grin

Can I ask what you ladies think of this coat? Please excuse the rest of the outfit!

Well I tried on some bits in JL today.

Yasmin dress looks awful on me, sad because I loved it! I think it's also pretty small in size, this is a 14.

Ivy is far to short and makes me look like a bubble on a stick.

Velour stripe joggers are about 4 inches too short.

Not much to get excited about tbh Sad

On another note Next have a gorgeous leopard coat in store if people are looking for cheaper version. Also seasalt'esque raincoats.

Love the coat dave

DavetheCat2001 · 22/08/2018 16:28

Wow world, that Next coat is a great dupe (and half the price) of the Boden!

I actually think the Yasmin dress suits you..very pretty.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:28

I love your coat, Dave. I think the sleeves could maybe do with being taken up, but otherwise it’s lovely.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:30

I tried that Next coat on today (won’t buy it, have one very similar) but thought it was a great price. Bit tight on the bust in a 14, and 14 was a bit big, which given my norkage, probably means it’s true to size.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:31

World - you can see your full face in the reflection of the side mirror, if that bothers you.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:33

Tight on bust in a 12, I meant!

zippyswife · 22/08/2018 16:34

Was about to say the same cherries. You are very pretty and I really like the Yasmin dress on you but maybe a size up?

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:36

Carpe Diem tee arrived today, which was a pre holiday present to myself. I’m not sure about it. Very thin, colour a bit griege.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:38

world I don’t think you need to give up on the Yasmin if you love it. The colour and style really suits you, it’s just the slight pull over the bust. It might be worth trying a 16. I find in their non-stretchy tops, Hush doesn’t really cater for boobage. Emmanuel dress was the same on me.

DavetheCat2001 · 22/08/2018 16:39

Thanks cherries

I've had the coat for about 15 years and only worn it a handful of times.

Only discovered today that it had pockets that needed unpicking too...doh!

dontcallmelen · 22/08/2018 16:43

@Dave really like the coat, looks lovely yy sleeves look a bit long though.
@Aworld also agree the Yasmin looks very pretty, maybe try the next size.

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2018 16:51

That coat is lovely looks vintage

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2018 16:52

I wasn’t impressed when I tried on in John Lewis either. Anyone seen a rain coat for my weekend? I will go into London tomorrow but I don’t want to be schlepping everywhere

DavetheCat2001 · 22/08/2018 16:55

Each it's about 15 years old I'd say and I got it from LK Bennett.

I think I've only worn it about 6 or 7 times..must get it out more often. It's not warm at all really though so no good for the cooler weather.

ilovecherries · 22/08/2018 16:57

I was passing new look today and they had that fur coat someone mentioned on the last thread right by the door, so in the interests of research, popped in for a look. It’s hard to see the £120 price difference between it and hush, (except for the fact they will be everywhere in a few weeks!). It’s a bit shorter, but it’s lined. Like the hush one, it has popper closures. The reason it would be a no for me are the lapels. They are fur on both sides so you are essentially getting a triple layer of fur right over the boobs, the last place I need bulk. I much prefer the straight edges and funnel neck of the Hush one. It’s very big. This is a 10, and although I couldn’t go smaller, there is plenty room for a warm jumper underneath. Cut my head off as I’m not wearing hair or makeup and generally looking scruffy - had just been to have pre holiday wax. Have I mentioned I’m going on holiday on Saturday Grin?

Taybert I have the Suzi velvet trousers in charcoal. They’re thin and quite stretchy - I would say if you’re between sizes then go for the smaller. They’re kind of moleskin in feeling more than velvet.
