Oh, Soy, that must be awful to experience that. I’m actually embarrassed to go to Europe at the moment, the way the U.K. is acting.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2018 17:22

I cant believe people treat you that way soy
You definitely wouldn't get that here in Scotland. Shocking behaviour.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2018 17:23

...but I hate the weather here in Scotland. Far too wet.

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 17:30

soy Im kind of envious.. I grew up not in my own birth family and was always lead to believe I had Irish background at least on one side and possibly French on the other. . Turns out not at all true, I am as English as can be with traceable relatives going way, way back at least to sixteenth century in pretty much the same area, according to DSF who is into genealogy.

DH just the same (though there was possibly a Huguenot way back ) .
So we are stuck with it and will have to face the Brexit music .Angry Sad . Id do it like a shot if I could ..

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 17:33

But why on earth should we care ? soy. you probably contribute far more than most Ukippers do .

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 17:36

Yes I’m sorry to say these days it’s all gone a bit weird...like some local people at the supermarket a few weeks ago I asked them politely to give me the “next customer” bar so I could start unloading my shopping after them. They look at me and then turn their backs. I ask again. Same response.
Then 6’3” tall Viking Scottish man who is my DH turns up (he’d gone to get sugar I’d forgotten) and asks and voila! No more selective deafness!
And I get looks all the time again only in local villages, never in Cambridge or Norwich or goodness! Never in a London.
It’s just a new thing that at first I thought was just in my head. Over sensitive. Overthinking it.
I’m sorry it’s not representative but it happens. I’ve had enough of it.
I adore Britain and its people and will always have a bit of my heart here.

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 17:40

Yes laska I’m in the high rate tax band and I don’t really care that much then I’m outraged and think “how dare they judge me based on a foreign accent” then I think well, it was always our plan when we stop work to go to Spain.
It’s all just given us a sense of urgency about it and brought it forward by 2 or 3 years. That’s all 👍

Ellapaella · 06/08/2018 17:42

Cherries - what a bitch your friend was to say that to you, I hope you can manage not to dwell on it too much. People who need to put others down are usually very insecure themselves (as well as being class A twats). Consign her to the Wanker box and leave her there (sorry for all bad language but honestly what a cow).
SoYo I think we are duty bound to arrange a Hushita meet up before you head back to Spain?

Ellapaella · 06/08/2018 17:44

And SoYo that is very sad to hear you've been experiencing that from people. The whole Brexit thing is just such a shame. I wish it would all just stop. Sad times.

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 17:47

LOL Ella you put it to cherries far more eloquently that I ever could Grin
For sure Hushistas meet must happen but I won’t be leaving for good till next summer for sure so plenty time to organise it Wink
And I do plan on frequent flights back, my two adored DS’s are staying put and you know boys and their Latin mamas ❤️

dontcallmelen · 06/08/2018 17:50

Aww Soy that makes for very sad reading, awful behaviour for you to have experienced.

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 17:57

Ok who has washed their frayed star shorts,, I'm a bit worried about if they will fray more around the cut off, and do they still roll up nicely afterwards (or do you need to put a stitch in? ) . Ive worn then 4 times now they are not totally minging yet but I so have to bite the bullet

I hate the English sometimes .. .Soy have you thought of going somewhere much more cosmopolitan though? like Brighton for example?

We are in pretty much all-white tory territory here , but I used to live and work in Brighton..a really vibrant place and anything goes ! (and some lovely areas around it .. Lewes is particually nice and not Ukip land

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 18:19

Ok here are the dyed Zoe and original shorts, the navy are still wet and the others (not dyed) are nearly dry, but the navy are dark as in the first photo. sorry, slightly fuzzy photo

I took another couple in the direct sun so you could see the contrast of the stitching which or course hasn't dyed. I'm really pleased with how they have turned out..

They are back in machine again for the 2nd wash with detergent , .
will be interesting to see how much lighter they dry .

So...back to fashion! I’ve decided against the Cara top melen just cause I don’t like wearing strapless bras and I’m not so sure my top heavy frame would suit it anyway...
However that Devore top looks fab on you cherries do you reckon I should go for a 10 or 12 like you?

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 18:27

laska Brighton is great totally love it! DS 2 has just finished his degree there and has a summer job now.
I think he’s staying put!
But property is ££
DH spent his teenage years in the area too due to FIL job and we’re very fond of it but we can’t afford to move there and save from house sale (which we will need to as we’re a few years yet to retirement)
If I decided to keep working then it could be a possibility. For now we just want rid of our house here.

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 18:28

Good job on the shorts! Love that! 😍

ilovecherries · 06/08/2018 18:30

I would def go for the 10, soy, I have masses of room in the 12.

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 19:10

Thank you cherries I’ve gone for it 👍 have always liked it and I saw it on Mrs a while ago but was put off by the £. Now I see it on you and like it even more.
Hope it looks okay will report on Wed when I expect it to arrive...
Also enabled by never the very beautiful Fernhurst trainers...I just love the look and hope my kipper feet will be fine in them.
Oh yes and Antibes top in that gorgeous print. Totally expecting to return this due to size (10 only available) and even if it fits it probably will look terrible on my buxom frame but I just adored the print from the start and at £20 worth a punt.

This is ABSOLUTELY my last sale order! Hmm
We will see when it arrives if I keep any. Will report back...

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 19:51

I reckon that Devore top will look great on you soy.

never Are you going for the Black washed Ivy again?

So of the three things I dyed the best colour is the linen vest which has gone a really deep navy ( it was navy before but had faded)
The Boden cropped leggings are pretty good but not as dark, as they are a cotton elastane mix. Definitely been given a new lease of life as they were quite faded ,

The Zoe shorts are going to be the lightest of them all I reckon as Rayon but a good navy colour , They are like a dark indigo denim colour I think. Original colour a sort of air Force blue/ chambray

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2018 20:47

I have gone for the Devore blouse. I ordered a 10 and a 12 to try. I think I might like it baggy. I haven't ordered the ivy dress [yet] I do keep looking at it. Not sure whats putting me off. I think its the fact that I would need to wear leggings with it. Im not overly fussed with leggings in all honesty. Actually that's not true. I like leggings but more with boots. I think sandals spoil the line and look a bit dated unless of course they are chunky platforms. Anway, haven't ordered it yet.
Fantastic job on the dying front Laska Win win!!!! Is it a machine dye you used? I have never done that. Scared it knackers my machine. Does it leave a residue? My machine is fairly new and a bosch so not cheap! I need it to last!!!
I forgot I had the Antibes top!!!! Post a picture of your top when you get it soy Did you go for the flowery one? I haven't worn my trainers yet. Not because I don't like them but because its been wet and I have mostly been in the house.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/08/2018 20:49

I really think your shorts look like they were originally navy!!! Great :)

SoyYo · 06/08/2018 20:55

Yes I was about to ask the same question as never, is washing machine okay after dying or do you then do an empty wash?
I think you’re super creative (I’m hopeless at crafts but can do chalk paints on old furniture that’s the limit of my abilities!...I do remember a phase in my teens doing batik, even with waxes! And how messy it got! No washing machines involved!)

never we can compare notes again (bit of a hush theme...good job we’re all too far away to go snap! You’re my hush twin!)...yes the print Antibes is delicious but maybe not on me. I’ll keep you posted!

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 21:04

Dylon machine dye never. It doesn't stain your machine . Our machine is only a couple of years old, and it is an AEG. So I wouldn't want to wreck it . What I do its wipe the inner seal with kitchen towel straight after the dye process and then run it again empty with washing soda or oxyclean

OP posts:
Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 21:08

It doesnt stain the door seal its just to get any residue out , ( there is a little liquid left in in the seal after every wash..I have never accidentally dyed any clothes by doing that . Washing machine dye is great for redoing your bath towels which in my case often seem to get bleach spots in because of me doing my hair colour , but stick to the same colour towels originally were or one very like
