I need an amazing foundation

Troyes76 · 27/07/2018 07:43

So my foundation has finally run out and I need a new one.
I’m mid 40s, dry skin, a few blemishes and acne scars.
I’d love a foundation which makes my skin flawless but have never found one, they always seem to go blotchy or too shiny.
Any recommendations?

I am loving Charlotte tilbury at the moment. The lighter of the two formulas she does is working great and not sitting in my pores.

NicoAndTheNiners · 29/07/2018 08:26

I agree about the Bobbi Brown intensive skin serum foundation one. It’s amazing. I was wearing it last night and put a selfie on fb and got lots of complements about my skin.

Hate the stupid dropper bottle but the foundation itself is amazing.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 29/07/2018 21:33

Got a sample of Bobbi Brown intensive serum foundation today in Beige. Will try tomorrow. Very expensive so probably won’t buy u less I’m in a “YOLO” mood!

I love Doublewear just because it’s oil free, gives good coverage and doesn’t make me break out. I have dryish skin but anything moisturising gives me acne in 5 seconds flat.

Any recommendations for anything oil free with great coverage that is more dewy looking gratefully received.

Primark are currently doing a great Doublewear dupe for a fiver. I got some for DD and am quite impressed with it.

YukonGold · 29/07/2018 22:44

I swear by Bare Minerals Original powder over their primer.

lancelott · 29/07/2018 22:46

Always used double wear its fantastic

JaceLancs · 29/07/2018 22:53

I don’t wear foundation very often, and was a fan of double wear, but as I’ve got older my skin is drier and feel I need something more dewy
Any mid price suggestions

Double Wear. No idea how I lived without it for so long. DW light or nude if you need something lighter - I use DW mainly in winter as my skin is prone to cold (live in a cold country) and looks shit without make up.
DW light for spring and autumn and DW nude for summer.

ReckItWralf · 30/07/2018 06:39

I love IT cosmetics CC cream too, such good coverage. I watched some YouTube videos of other people applying it to work out which shade I need.
I went for Light and it’s perfect, Medium would be too orange for me, I’m not super pale but don’t really tan either.
Got mine from QVC with the Heavenly Skin brush.

LittleMissBrainy · 30/07/2018 08:21

I can highly recommend Inika Organic as it goes on flawlessly and they don't test on animals like Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and most of the other brands previously mentioned do.

The only problem with ethical brands (including Inika) is that they don't seem to last as long, but personally, I'd rather reapply than use one that tests on animals.

BettyBooHoo · 30/07/2018 09:27

Reck it's so good isn't it? I'm currently using Medium but will switch it down to Light for the Autumn. It stays on so well too. There used to be very little of my Chanel foundation left by the end of the day, but my cleansing cloth shows there is still plenty of CC cream left on my skin.

Bostin · 30/07/2018 09:34

I can’t use DW as my skin is too dry. It’s also v red so I need something to cover that. I love Lancôme Teint Miracle, it doesn’t sit in my pores (I use a primer), hides my rosacea and definitely looks dewy. Ask for a sample and see if it’s any good for you.

nicelyneurotic · 30/07/2018 09:59

I love urban decay naked. No alcohol or parabens too

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 08:10

betty Yes! I’ve tried so many CC creams that either make my skin look shit and settle in pores straight away or they start off ok but over the day go orange or disappear.
IT one looks as good in the evening as the morning and makes my skin look much smoother than it is and it doesn’t go orange!

I had the Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow which looked really good at first but I was a shiny mess after a couple of hours with no coverage.

BettyBooHoo · 31/07/2018 08:42

A couple of the bright young things I work with has commented on how smooth my skin looks recently. Not bad for a 47 year old

ShottaSheriff · 01/08/2018 03:52

betty and reck what are the colours like in the IT CC cream?

I fancy ordering it from Boots but I have a yellow/olive undertone so can struggle with products that are more pink/orange toned.

ReckItWralf · 01/08/2018 07:37

The Light is yellow toned, I won’t buy anything with a pink undertone.
I’d say to try Medium if you’re more olive.

ReckItWralf · 01/08/2018 07:39

There’s videos on the QVC app you can watch which might help you decide on shade.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 01/08/2018 07:48

Doublewear, hands down.

anxious62 · 01/08/2018 09:34

Double wear was like trowling tar on to my face!

Beautifullymixed · 01/08/2018 09:53

I absolutely LOVE maybelline fit me matte and poreless.

The shade range is amazing, and it's not (as the name suggests) a drying matte foundation that leaves you looking flat.

It leaves a satin matte finish, and blends in beautifully. You can use a drop, or build it up, as I do, to cover redness and acne scars.

I also add a bit of loose powder to it when applying, to thicken it and add more coverage and staying power.

It doesnt oxidise, emphasise dry patches or sink into pores. Nor does it look like a mask.

I set with loose powder, usually a silica based powder pressed into my oily t zone, and it lasts all day long.

A quick dust of powder around the rest of the face, and a spritz of my diy facial spray to add moisture, and remove any powdery look - and a face that won't budge!

Even in the recent heat we had - my face was intact. Smile

Beautifullymixed · 01/08/2018 10:05

I used to use no7 foundations, in particular the superlight and stay perfect - but permanently changed when I discovered the maybelline fit me foundation.

Why pay £16, when a £5/6 one is even better!
To top it off, I get it from amazon, next day delivery, and don't even need to leave the house! Grin

KiplingAngelCake · 01/08/2018 10:08

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation - fantastic stuff, buildable coverage. Love it.

HolyMountain · 01/08/2018 10:13

Guerlain's Parure Gold is the best foundation I have ever used!

I'll buy another bottle Autumn/Winter as it's hugely expensive but worth every penny if , like me, you're a daily wearer of foundation.
