I need an amazing foundation

Troyes76 · 27/07/2018 07:43

So my foundation has finally run out and I need a new one.
I’m mid 40s, dry skin, a few blemishes and acne scars.
I’d love a foundation which makes my skin flawless but have never found one, they always seem to go blotchy or too shiny.
Any recommendations?

Used doubleqear for past 20 years I love it

whereiscaroline · 27/07/2018 20:18

Another vote for double wear. I've also just found Clinique's beyond perfecting which I also really like.

Fullfatlatte · 27/07/2018 20:22

Bobbi Brown foundation stick has no spf at all so has no flashback whatsoever 👍😀

Baxdream · 27/07/2018 20:25

I'm medium /medium tan and I'm quite fair but have a bit of colour at the moment

secretgirl · 27/07/2018 22:10

Adore the double wear too bit the flash back is just awful. Hoing to any occasion where photographs will be taken this has to be taken into consideration.
I do t tjinknits the spunk a foundation that causes this. I think it's zinc.
Loreal mineral foundation is what I wear out now. It has an spf and no flash back . Amazing coverage and lasts well.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 27/07/2018 22:15

Thanks Mac

Are the shades true to actual colour? It’s expensive if you make a mistake with skin tone match.

secretgirl · 27/07/2018 22:18

Oh wow! The spunk in the foundation. Hahaha I meant the spf in the foundation!
Though hear the former is Very good for skin.

Peachypips · 27/07/2018 22:38

Double Wear. Nothing remotely as good.

cad186 · 27/07/2018 23:01

Giorgio Armani luminous silk is lovely and no flashback.

puppymouse · 27/07/2018 23:02

Another vote for IT cosmetics CC cream

BuntyCollocks · 27/07/2018 23:41

I love Nars all day luminous weightless. I’ve heard good things about the Armani one as well

Elledorado · 28/07/2018 00:12

Hangingaroudtheportal I like lllamasqua skin base the best for photography, and lancome teinte idole ultra (although this tends to oxidise). Giorgio Armani is also really good for photos but is expensive. The mufe hd is supposed to be good for photography but I have only really just started using it so haven't tested flashback

FatherFintanStack1 · 28/07/2018 12:43

Bobbi Brown intensive skin serum foundation... not cheap but there's nothing like it.

She has a really good powder too, useful in this hot weather, not sure of the name but it has little blocks of different colours that blend together when you use it.

BettyBooHoo · 28/07/2018 15:38

Aunty I wear the IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Medium which is their most popular shade. I am a blonde, with grey/blue eyes and quite a warm skin tone that goes very flushed when I'm hot, but tans easily.

Billyboo1 · 28/07/2018 15:46

I would look at your skincare first. Drinking more water, double cleansing and lots of exfoliation will reduce the need for heavy cover and you will want to show off your skin. I am a cleansing obsessive. The best thing I ever did for my skin was to use a hot cloth cleanser twice a day. Now i just use a beauty balm and concealer if need be

ShottaSheriff · 28/07/2018 15:49

I’m amazed so many people recommend double wear! I have pretty decent skin to start with, although I’m 38 and have the odd scar etc, and I find it far too heavy and drying. The double wear nude is pretty good though, it’s much lighter but the coverage is still really good.

If you’re splashing out then, as a PP recommended, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is excellent.

I go foundation free most days and instead use a good concealer, the Estée Lauder CC cream and the Clinique blemish powder over the top. I can only do this since i started acid toning with Pixi Glow tonic - it has totally smoothed out my skin and I rarely get a spot! I’d definitely see if you can tweak your skin care routine to improve the appearance of your skin before looking to cover it.

ShottaSheriff · 28/07/2018 15:50

Cross post Billyboo1 - couldn’t agree more. I do try to do all those things too and it has made a difference!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 28/07/2018 15:51

I have dry dehydrated skin and the best foundations that work for me ( once I've moisturised and used primer) are Suqqu original cream foundation ( in the glass pot) but looks best if you've got great skin to start with. If you have, your skin will look incredible.
Kevin Aucoin sensual skin enhancer is really really good. You only need a dab of it and blend with a brush or a beauty blender but it's so highly pigmented that it covers really well. It seems to fuse with my skin somehow.
Chantecaille Future skin is also wonderful.
Rest of the time I use Nars Sheer Glow.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 28/07/2018 16:26

I love this! Although it doesn't stay on as well as I would like but love it when it goes on. Think it's to do with not using a primer

I need an amazing foundation
Billyboo1 · 28/07/2018 16:30

Personally I can't stand double wear but it's personal preference. My favourite is clinique even better or rimmel bb cream. X

HeavenIsNotAPlaceAtWork · 28/07/2018 21:41

No not double wear if you have dry skin!!!!!!! It's the worst ever you will look distressed antique 😬

3luckystars · 28/07/2018 21:50

There is no point recommending my foundation because you have different skin but I would recommend Lisa Eldridge Website, she has videos about how to find the right foundation. I’m absolutely mad about her!

I must start watching her videos again because my skin has changed and I need a new foundation too!

She is someone who loves make up and tries everything out and anything she has recommended that I tried was good so far.
Have a look at a few of her videos yourself and see what she recommends. Best of luck.

3luckystars · 28/07/2018 21:55

Here I found the video for you, I just saw about 10 videos I want to watch on her site so I’ll just post this here and good luck!

I really don't get the love for Double wear TBH. I got a sample and it made me look like a ghoul! Dry skin needs something more dewy I think?

verite · 29/07/2018 07:36

I have ysl touche eclat le teint. I’m happy with it. I bought ysl fusion ink first which was amazing coverage but too drying. Le teint is a more dewy finish. Get lots of samples and try them at home first.
