ETA personally I’d keep the portobello. It is not too see through for it is, after all, a light white summer top.

DavetheCat2001 · 14/07/2018 12:07

The Portobello 100% never

Looks really lovely on you.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 12:07

They are both quite expensive. Thanks for opinion. It really helps :) . I do have the other one in the medium. The one I am wearing is the small. It isn't really meant to be roomy. But maybe it would look better in the slightly bigger size?

Thank you all :)

@Ellapaella I bought another of the basic dresses from H&M.

I'm actually considering selling in my Venice Beach dress as not convinced I'll wear it.

Ok so here is the vest in a medium

Out of the 2 vests, is the medium better? It is definitely looser around the bust and at the bottom.

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 14/07/2018 12:58

I def prefer the medium to the small, Never. Both styles are lovely on you, but I think the portobello has the edge. It looks a bit special.

And, yay, she’s being discharged. Consultant came round, asked me if I felt confident caring for her at home, and said to her that in that case she could go and get some decent sleep and meals and he would see her at clinic on Monday. So, that was a huge unexpected bonus, and he said initially 3-4 nights post op.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 13:17

@cherries - Thats great news :) Delighted for you and your dd.
It will be nice to spend some time with her giving her some TLC.
Thanks for the feedback. Looking at the photos, i do think the medium looks better although it is roomier under the arms. I can live with that :) Knowing Hush for shrinkage, it gives a little room if it does esp at the crochet bit which when combining a few materials, can happen. Lets hope not!
@Dave - really lilke the dress that you are wearing. Looks super wearable and comfy.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 13:20

So a medium in the vest and an 8 in the portobello! Think that sums up hush sizing Confused

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 13:21

Tbh, i think its definitely more to do with body shape! Its about what fits the individual better but very annoying for returns.

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 14/07/2018 13:31

Portabello Never without a doubt.
Dave that's funny because I've just walked out of H & M.. was looking for a swimming costume but saw those dresses and thought of you! Picked one up to buy then quickly put it back as I'm trying not to spend unless I need something!

Whitesea · 14/07/2018 13:33

Never If you are choosing between the two tops, I would choose the portobello. As well as looking really lovely on you, it looks expensive (imo) whereas the other top doesn’t look as special.

Dave you have an enviable figure.

I have to lose a stone quickly. Feeling so fat and tired these days.

Cherries great news about your daughter.

DavetheCat2001 · 14/07/2018 13:44

Thanks Whitesea x

I've just ordered this dress from Next:

www.next.co.uk/g67118s1#966963

It'll either be fab or awful!

ilovecherries · 14/07/2018 14:49

Well, still stuck here waiting for bloody discharge paperwork and pharmacy and meanwhile her temp has gone up but it is sweltering in here. Hope no one decides that means she can’t go.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 15:05

They take ages to discharge @cherries
I don't think they will change their minds.
I am just this minute back from returning the crochet tank. I did love it but it was just too much money. I asked my dd [ 11] what she liked better and she NEVER makes a decision on anything and said without a shadow of a doubt the Portobello. It was the icing on the cake. So the tank was returned. If it goes on sale, I might purchase when it is down in price. I think you were all right. It was rather ordinary apart from the crochet at the bottom. Lets face it though, it could have been from M&S or M&CO as I have seen tops very similar. [Maybe on me - a bit middle aged --which I am but hate that phrase so shhhhh…]

Hey Hush pals - fancy helping me with a clothing conundrum? It's DD1's graduation next week: I know she'd like everyone to look super smart and make an effort, and I don't generally do formal that much. Obviously my taste is basically.... well, Hush. No way I'm going to get away with a Venice beach dress and espadrilles though.

If any of you have been parents of graduands, or have seen anything you think a Hush-type dresser would like, would you link? I go in shops like Coast and everything looks like something you'd wear to forecast the weather on BBC breakfast - not me at all.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 17:15

Wear what your happy with is my advice. What about looking at the likes of whistles or jigsaw. Quite upmarket but you can get some things that are classic and nicely fitting.
I don't really know how formal an event a graduation is as the only one I went to was my own. My older ds didn't want to do the event for graduation. They just weren't into it, so I never went.
Could you get away with the likes of the Hush Ariel cut out dress teamed with a smart jacket and strappy sandals? Some nice jewellery as well or is that too casual?

Ted Baker has some really beautiful dresses but I have no idea what they are like fit wise.
I llike these but really there are so many I could choose from on this website:

I appreciate that the ones I have posted are my style of dress and may not suit your shape but there are loads on that website to choose from. With a simple blazer style jacket, bag and strappy heeled sandals, you would be good to go.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2018 17:50

and I was very tempted to buy this dress in pink:

I think the pink is more beautiful and shows of the detailing:

You could also easily dress up this Hush swing dress:

www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/tatiana_swing_dress_midnight.htm

Heels, silver jewellery, bag

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 14/07/2018 19:52

Agree on the Tatiana Swing dress . It could be nicely dressed up with some sandals (with a heel) and the right silver jewellery with a nice clutch bag.

bathildab · 14/07/2018 19:58

The Kaia dress would be fine for a graduation. I'd size down as they are generous.
