Honest opinion: love the wig, hate the hairpiece. My friend wears wigs and I think you need a wig cap to make sure your hair is bombproof (as shown here: www.simplywigs.co.uk/blog/how-does-my-wig-stay-on/)

Ginkypig · 09/06/2018 12:41

I think it was probably just not the right hairpiece for you that's all.
You didn't look terrible just not as nice as the wig.

You have lovely fine features and the hairpiece overwhelmed them a bit I think probably due to the colour and the heavy fringe. but even in the 2nd pic you look fucking lovely and way younger than your age! I'm more than 10 years younger than you and would kill to look half a nice as you do Blush

TheNavigator · 09/06/2018 12:41

I think the wig is a nicer colour than the hairpiece and suits your complexion better. Many hairdressers will cut and style wigs, you would be astonished how common baldness is in post menopausal women and how many wear wigs. You look lovely.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/06/2018 12:48

@smeerf thank you for that link; really helpful.

If I thought I could get away with a pixie cut, I'd do it but I've always been known for my long hair.

Appreciate the comments, thank you.

It's the washing hair when you have a couple of inches ....

Very nice! A half up do would be beautiful and so classic. Have a lovely day.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/06/2018 13:54

How do I do a half up do?

I know I sound pathetic but I've just tried to put it up, gone to put the rubbish out and it's fallen off!!!!!!!

AtrocityNeedles · 09/06/2018 13:58

What a wonderful smile you have, OP.

The wig really works. It is a warmer colour than the hairpiece, which is why it works better with your skin tone. If I were you, I would wear it exactly as pictured and maybe add some beautiful details, like tiny flower clips or a very small flower hairband or braid.

SexyManatee · 09/06/2018 13:58

The wig is a million miles better than the hairpiece. Long hair looks utterly stunning on you OP.

DianaT1969 · 09/06/2018 13:59

Some theatre make up artists specialise in wigs too. You'd need to search around, but it would give extra confidence if you have it done by a professional.
You look very young and pretty. Enjoy your big day!

Sortofcool · 09/06/2018 14:19

You are beautiful. That wig looks lovely as it is. The colour is soft and works well with your colouring. You
Just need to secure it so you aren’t anxious on the day about any movement. You are an extremely
Young looking nearly 49. You will
Look a million dollars on your wedding day with your hair
Like that.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/06/2018 14:27

Oh, you are all so lovely. I want to find the person who said I looked "much older than 48" but very childish and I must move on! I'm taking all this advice on board. Hairnets and profession people.

But when I go to bed and I'm virtually bald, I feel so deflated even though he doesn't care at all. I just feel as if a part of me is missing!

OP posts:
anametouse · 09/06/2018 14:29

The wig is lovely. I'm really sorry but the hairpiece isn't - it is aging and doesn't suit your face shape. You've such a lovely face. I would wear the wig as it is, it looks so lovely and natural

TheSassyAssassin · 09/06/2018 14:33

Lobster your STBDH has got it right. You look gorgeous in your wig (it looks v natural) but he finds you just as gorgeous without! Which hopefully helps a bit. You're going to be a beautiful bride regardless Flowers

OneShotFinch · 09/06/2018 14:36

You look stunning- and nowhere near your age! I think the style looks lovely as it is! Congrats on your wedding! 💐💐💐

AnyFucker · 09/06/2018 14:37

I was on your other thread and the consensus was most definitely not that you look older then 48

You asked if the hairpiece was ok and quite rightly most folk said it was ageing but the rest of you was fab

If you ask for opinions you have to be prepared for a wide range of opinions, including the random oddball ones

The wig is much better, btw. I don't know if your self confidence is low after your experiences but you look gorgeous. It's really not a good idea to seek approval from strangers though if you are fragile enough that the odd sour faced trout pops your bubble

Enjoy your wedding day x

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/06/2018 14:42

Thank you , @AnyFucker , as usual you sum it up. Yes, self confidence very low and completely accurate. A bit like saying "do I look fat in this?" - always two answers.

But I've now accepted that the hairpiece (binned) wasn't a good plan and the wig is better. And he prefers me without the wig anyway!

OP posts:
RedPandaMama · 09/06/2018 14:44

You look absolutely stunning, the wig is lovely but it's your smile that makes you look much younger than you said you are. Good luck with the wedding!

Eenymeeny123 · 09/06/2018 14:49

Who said you look older then 48 need their eyes testing!!! You look far younger and you look lovely. It would look great down with maybe a flower or decorative slide in the side. Congratulations and I hope you have a great day.Smile

dontcallmelen · 09/06/2018 14:54

Aww Lobster, congratulations on your wedding you look fabulous.
Could you maybe have a consultation with a hairdresser, especially if you have a regular one you have used, they should be able to play around with different styles.
I truly hope you are feeling better & take comfort from all the lovely positive comments, it’s tough when you are feeling vulnerable & very very easy to take comments to heart💐

MsHomeSlice · 09/06/2018 15:02

I think folks get carried away with big blonde up dos and always think Babs Windsor without actually looking at the person and they know she is much more that 48

I love the colour of the wig and it suits you beautifully in the first pic....my only reservation is the style , I don't like styles where all the hair is poouffed about the front and you have a great gap at the back! BUT that is my niggle not yours!

How about this a heavy plait to hold it back in place

or maybe more boho with flowers ?

FrillySpidersWillies · 09/06/2018 15:04

You look beautiful op, you also look beautiful on the inside too I can see it in your eyes

DiabolicalMess · 09/06/2018 15:05

It looks really lovely, it's a great colour with your complexion. I would perhaps prefer it not tucked behind your ears - maybe a pretty clip if you would rather it was away from your face, but it really does look lovely.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/06/2018 15:07

@FrillySpidersWillies what a lovely comment Thanks

OP posts:
MrsDilber · 09/06/2018 15:15

You look MUCH younger than 48, I'm 48 too. It's really pretty op. Congrats on your wedding!
