Flat strappy sandals with a bit of cushioning in the sole

Is anyone prepared to take on the challenge of helping me find some nice sandals for summer, for everyday wear?

I have abnormally little padding on the soles of my feet (wish I could transfer some from my thighs Grin so I find the very thin, hard soles on most sandals is very harsh to walk on.

They need to have at least a thin strap across the back to help keep them on my feet and a few straps across the foot (I've seen a lot that just seem to have one strap up the middle of the foot and then around the ankle - I don't think these would work for me).

My budget is roughly £60.

Any suggestions appreciated!

For context, I threw away my one pair of sandals last year which wear 11 years old. I have looked around the shops the past few summers and drawn a bit of a blank. But don't let my pickiness put you off - I need help!

I've just got these Clarks Corsio Calm sandals. They're sold out in lots of sizes on the Clarks website, but I got mine for very for a few pound cheaper, £56.

The sole is very sturdy and the uppers a leather. I'm a size 6-6.5, I got the 6, I would prefer the 6.5 but they aren't available. However, because they are very soft leather, they'll stretch nicely. The sole feels similar to Birkenstock s, and because of the style they feel very secure. Im Happy with the purchase.

I’ve just seen Mumsnet’s roundup of comfy and stylish sandals. 10% off Moshulu Wasabis!

The Tevas have turned up. I'm impressed by them! I just don't know if they're a touch big. Please don't look closely at my toes, but do you think these look as though I could go down a size?

I want those Clarks, have been looking everywhere for them but no size 8 to be had in either colour! Angry

KnobJockey · 18/05/2018 09:49

@WhatMakesYouHappy they have a 7.5 in both colours in Amazon, would they be any good?

KnobJockey · 18/05/2018 09:50

INeedNewShoes I personally think they look fine. What time of the day was that, and had you been on your feet all day? Or is that in a morning?

WhatMakesYouHappy · 18/05/2018 09:56

Thanks so much @KnobJockey but I measured my feet and looked at their size guide and I think they are JUST too small Envy

NameChange30 · 18/05/2018 10:19

OP
It’s hard to be sure without seeing the whole foot including heel, but I’d say you could probably go down half a size.

I ordered a load online and have had a massive trying on session. Oh my god, Timberland do the comfiest sandal I’ve ever tried, they are perfectly moulded and feel like I’m wearing super-squidgey trainers (but look good). The tan colour didn’t look great on me but am getting a pair in black - even though I wasn’t looking for black sandals - just because I am amazed at how well they fit and feel!

I’m also torn between a pair of fitflops and moshulu - the tan colour on both is lovely. Neither are comfortable as the Timberland ones, but miles better than the hard flat ones in most shops. The fitflop ones feel like they might slip around on my feet (but I have narrow feet) and the moshulu leather straps feel a bit hard, but they might soften.

Anyway, in conclusion to my essay, I’m saying try Timberland, I’m so excited to have found them 😂

UmbrellaPlants · 24/05/2018 12:25

P.S. the Timberland come up fairly small so would go a half size up at least (another plus point - half sizes)

INeedNewShoes · 24/05/2018 17:35

Useful update Umbrella 🙂

The leather on the Moshulu wasabis I bought is notably soft!

I sent the size 6 Teva kayentes back and exchanged for a 5. I'd say the 6 were about 15% too big on me and the 5 are about 5% too small so not a perfect fit but the smaller size feel secure on my foot and they do feel lovely underfoot!

So I now have black Tevas for when I need to walk a lot and prettier pink Moshulus that I'll use for social occasions etc. but I'll be careful not to walk miles on them.

Not glamorous but very comfortable

Bourgainvillia · 24/05/2018 22:05

My old Tevas lasted me for ages but weren't too stylish or fragrant either!

Unsureneighbour · 24/05/2018 22:49

I'm following this thread with interest. I bought Office Hallies on the back of a similar thread but I couldn't even get them on my feet, they were far too narrow. I've clearly got enormous slabs of ham instead of feet...

I'm surviving at the moment with some 'wide fit' tan sandals I picked up at M and S which are doing me quite well but ideally I want that 'i'm never removing these from my feet again' feeling.

Q1w2e3 · 24/05/2018 23:11

These aren’t really strappy but are hugely comfy for my poor arthritis riddled feet.

I got these last year in silver and they are unbelievably comfy.

sanitygirl · 24/05/2018 23:49

@UmbrellaPlants which Timberland sandals did you get? They sound great!

INeedNewShoes · 25/05/2018 00:13

Can I just say that this is my thread (stamps foot) and now that I have spent my sandals budget I hereby decree that no subsequent poster be allowed to reveal a better sandal than those I am now saddled with Wink

@sanitygirl I got these: www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/womens-malibu-waves-two-strap-sandal-black-a1mqk015#hero=0

Haha @INeedNewShoes I hope your new cushiony sandals prevented you from hurting your foot when you stamped it at least 😆

Ecco gladiator here in every colour and style

I have plantar fasciitis and don't need my insoles with them. Bed is shaped and sole is a trainer type rubber - so comfortable!

Bourgainvillia · 28/05/2018 10:55

Sounds painful, I just have chubby feet lol. Comfort is a must for me.
