S&B rule breaking

onlyonaTuesday · 20/03/2018 22:27

So today I broke the ultimate S&B rule and had a mum bob hair cut and I also bought a pair of sketchers for a city break 🙈

Anyone else want to confess their fashion faux pas??

OlennasWimple

I have recently started to wear navy and black at the same time

That is a very chic combination!

OlennasWimple · 22/03/2018 21:04

That is a very chic combination!

Tell that to my mother, who believes mixing navy and black to be a complete no-no.... Grin

ChoccyJules · 22/03/2018 21:09

Today I went out in navy T shirt, black jeans, navy Sketchers and black cardi. I think I looked fab. Not really, but I think I looked perfectly fine thanks and that will do.
Until this thread I was unaware we don't like Sketchers. I only got mine recently!

ephemeralfairy · 22/03/2018 21:21

I don't pluck my eyebrows
I wear navy and black
I wear a LOT of very blingy gold jewellery
I am 37 and still shop in Primark, H&M and New Look
I absolutely refuse to start wearing Hush/Boden/Mint Velvet
I get regular compliments on my style Smile

Lauraandbump2 · 22/03/2018 21:47

I prefer eyebrows sleek and thinner than most. Full brows don't suit my face in my opinion and I'm not a fan of a heavy brow.

I don't like H&M, the quality shows once washed and the sizing is ridiculous.

I adore the comfort of leggings and converse.

AndromedaPerseus · 22/03/2018 23:38

I think most Hush dresses are hideous some of them look like they are made for toddlers

Jon66 · 23/03/2018 00:02

I've just bought my first ever dungaree dress from toast and I wear uggs and I'm over 50 😃

youngerself · 23/03/2018 00:32

I go to sleep in my make up and re- touch it the next day
I'm not being put off bedtime activities by a cleansing regime

AwkwardSquad · 23/03/2018 05:51

Jon66 I’ve just bought my first dungaree dress from Toast too! Bloody love it.

Mercurial123 · 23/03/2018 06:21

I also refuse to follow mum bloggers, the only blog I read occasionally is Garance Dore for a bit of escapism. My Instagram is for travel and wildlife only.

I don't want to look expensive, put together or French. Wearing muted colours and being tasteful is a bit dull.

I've been wearing stripey T-shirts and Bretons for years and refuse to stop wearing them.

SaffyMcDonut · 23/03/2018 07:26

I am a 50 year old woman and self identify as being the invisible woman Shock. That's going to change though - I'm not going down without a fight.

Tigerpit · 23/03/2018 09:56

I've found my tribe. I, too, am a 50 year old woman, and I'm bloody happy to look like one. I wear what I want, when I want, and don't give a monkey's that my hubby would prefer me to wear skirts. I like bootleg jeans, cosy fleeces and my hot pink walking boots.

I want to be comfortable and cosy and warm and to be able to move, curl up or sit on the floor if I want to.

fairylightsdown · 23/03/2018 10:03

I wear leggings and skechers (not st the same time). I don't do my nails and have a minimal "beauty" regime. My hair is down to my waist and I'm almost 40.

Longhairmightcare · 23/03/2018 11:37

Another leggings and uggs wearer here Blush. And they’re not even real uggs (but are real sheepskin).
I just can’t justify not being that comfy on my school run/looking after toddler days in the name of looking stylish.

I also continue to wear bootcut work trousers as the make me look skinny and long legged in a way that the straight/peg legged/ankle grazer variety do not.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/03/2018 12:16

Narrow brows are back! Hurrah. Have not actually ever gone for the thick look. Perhaps people have to show their individuality instead of their slavish adherence to a certain “style”.

Incidentally, am I the only one who finds the faux French threads in S&B too much? To be fair, the posts can be entertaining but mainly due to the earnestness conveyed.

Isn’t the whole point of French dressing, that those people create their own looks rather than aping those of others?

Honestly - how much time are you able to devote to other more important issues if your small world revolves around clothing?

Mercurial123 · 23/03/2018 12:28

I also don't do tasteful minimalist jewellery I always buy beads, bangles, long earrings wherever I travel. Life's too short to be so restrictive.

rightknockered · 23/03/2018 12:58

I've found lately that I am gravitating towards a look that makes people stop and stare at me, not what I intend when I get dressed of a morning, but I'm quite pleased about it Grin
I like the idea of approaching my 50's with an eccentric air

RatherBeRiding · 23/03/2018 13:16

Oh this thread is making me very, very happy!

I wear Uggs AND Skechers (not at same time) AND leggings AND tunics. And don't plan on giving any of them up any time soon.

JanettheNotebookJunkie · 23/03/2018 13:31

I have a fringe. Go on - shoot me.

Time40 · 23/03/2018 13:48

I don't care that some of my stuff is (allegedly) very dated. I still love it, and I'm not going to stop wearing things I love because I've read somewhere that such-and-such has gone out of fashion.

ilovecherries · 23/03/2018 13:57

I've just in defiance of S&B bought a pair of high vamp flats from a M&S that I have seen described as vile, mingling, horrible nan shoes on here. I bloody love them. SO comfy AND they make me smile. (Shuffles off to consider if this makes me a vile, mingling, horrible nan. Considers it. Decides I don't give a shiny shit Grin)

teta · 23/03/2018 15:49

I hate Uniqlo.
My bra of choice are the pound shop stretchy ones.
I don’t want to be French.
I don’t see the need to use numerous The Ordinary products.
My eyebrows aren’t shaped or have anything done to them.
I use Clinique Chubby Sticks for all my make up needs ( to my daughters amusement).

mercurymaze · 23/03/2018 15:50

I wear pop socks

puppydogmummy · 23/03/2018 16:05

I wear plastic kids Halloween necklaces all year round! Once a goth always a goth haha

ephemeralfairy · 23/03/2018 16:09

Ooh forgot about my silver Puffer jacket and numerous pairs of loud brightly coloured trainers
