S&B rule breaking

onlyonaTuesday · 20/03/2018 22:27

So today I broke the ultimate S&B rule and had a mum bob hair cut and I also bought a pair of sketchers for a city break 🙈

Anyone else want to confess their fashion faux pas??

OP posts:
YouWereRight · 21/03/2018 21:50

I love stupid shoes, my current loves are black pointy, with huge pin poms on them.
I like m&s.
I wear clashing colours if I fancy it.
I've plucked/threaded/waxed my eye brows.
I very rarely have my hair cut, once a year is an optimistic estimate.
I wear my hair in bunches and 2 braids, even though I am not 15 in fave that is half my age.

BigStripeyBastard · 21/03/2018 21:57

I look like a 50 year old woman. (I am a 50 year old woman )

I'm pissing myself at this one. How very fucking dare a 50 year old woman look like just that? The Daily Mail Sidebar of Shame would just explode into a billion sparkly pixels and evaporate into the ether......

Every hairdresser I go to (well, once every two years when I can be bothered) points out that I really do have a lot of grey hair...... Err, yes, I'm 40 and have been going grey since I was 19.....what do you think was going to happen?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 21/03/2018 22:21

When done properly navy and black look great together

goose1964 · 21/03/2018 22:22

I don't have an extensive beauty routine. Beefayre cleanser when I can remember

ilovecherries · 21/03/2018 22:24

I dare to be 60. And don't believe that condemns me to a life wearing per una. I do wear comfy shoes though.

mistermagpie · 21/03/2018 22:29

I like ugg boots...

BestIsWest · 21/03/2018 22:31

I wear Per Una jeans. They fit me brilliantly.

TempusFugitive · 21/03/2018 22:40

Nothing that beats per una jeans. A pair of josef seibel shoes though!!
I love navy and black too.

madmomma · 21/03/2018 22:53

I am a size 16 and still wear my soft and trusty baukjen leggings. They make me happy even if I look an absolute bugger in them. Tunics are a godsend for my apple shape and if they look frumpy I don't care cos I feel so comfy in them.

thesaurusgirl · 22/03/2018 10:58

I don't give much of a shiny shite about mum bloggers and brands. I just assume they're all lying and they're all getting kickbacks from the brands. As I'm not paying anything for the free content, I'll just crack on looking at their pretty pictures thanks.

I leave my eyebrows well alone. I rarely see anyone with great eyebrows despite all the plucking, threading, waxing, microblading and whatever else they put themselves through.

I would never book a John Lewis personal shopper in a style crisis. Have you seen how they dress?

I wear leggings and Ugg boots all the time that I'm not in public, and sometimes even then.

I would never regard a handbag as an investment. I like houses and pensions and stocks and shares for that, because I understand maths.

I think Hush fabrics are sub-Primark quality and would never spend £50 on tracksuit bottoms so thin and synthetic they highlight your cellulite.

rightknockered · 22/03/2018 11:05

I wear leggings , and uggs if cold and dry out. I often wear leggings with dresses (especially short ones) and DMs. Love love leggings.
I like wearing black, even though I'm in my 40's, 90% of my wardrobe is black, not navy. Even next to my face, the horror.
I don't want to let my hair go grey, so I do my roots every two weeks, and my hair is blue black.
Also would rather buy Primark/New Look than Hush, plus Sainsbury's TU clothing is shite.

thesaurusgirl · 22/03/2018 11:10

High-fives all the leggings wearers

Thought of another:

I don't give a shite about dressing to look expensive, cheap, French, or quirky. Wear what you want, wear who you are. Don't pretend to be someone else.

thesaurusgirl · 22/03/2018 11:13

Another: Uniqlo is magnificent quality for the price, but a cotton t-shirt, an affordable cashmere v-neck jumper and a pair of stretchy jeans is just swapping one school uniform for another, even in primary colours. Even when you bung your All Saints leather over the top. Try having some fun with your clothes instead.

Laska5772 · 22/03/2018 11:40

I do agree that these days Hush is not always as good as it used to be .some is great but some recently has been frankly disappointing, and i have sent back more than i have kept , but still have old stuf which is great and worn well,

Actually my favourite place for basic vests and scoop neck tops for layering (and some other stuff) is H&M! and TU for jeggings ..

I do like a good Tkmaxx browse though! have had some great stuff from there

BoredOnMatLeave · 22/03/2018 11:52

Where do I start?
Never had my eyebrows threaded (when the fuck are you meant to do that with an 20 month old and a job anyway)
My nails are awful
I wear blue and back too and think I look great
I wear a lot of synthetic materials (I do feel bad about it though)
I love Matalan
Never tried any expensive face creams etc. In fact I have only just started cleansing after 25 years of using baby wipes.

dontquotemeondailymail · 22/03/2018 11:58

I wear uggs. And Skechers (obvs not at the same time, I'm not that alternative)

How very dare me!

rightknockered · 22/03/2018 12:39

And quite frankly, I'm sick of the 'black skinny jeans, heels and a nice top" look for going out. I like wearing faded/bleach washed indigo jeans, silk shirt and trainers/docs for going out these days. I think it looks better, plus I can walk and run around easily without looking miserable because my feet hurt. I look more beautiful when I'm not scowling in misery

rightknockered · 22/03/2018 12:41

And I frigging love everything I have ever bought from Allsaints, especially the sludgy colours.

notthatonethanks · 22/03/2018 14:52

I don't believe in bra intervention either. Just sounds uncomfortable.

Even worse - I really like lots of the stuff in fat face.

Silverstreaks · 22/03/2018 15:16

MrsMoastyToasty you made me laugh. I too look like a 52 woman, no getting away from it.

EraArils · 22/03/2018 15:31

I only own 2 bras, one black and one nude and will only wear them when absolutely necessary.

Hate skinny jeans and will wear leggings. Hate tights.

I wear wide legged trousers, full length or cropped. If wearing the cropped version then I will often wear them with striped socks and DM's. Hate those trainer/shoe sock things. shudder

I wear my hair short even though I have than a less than perfect face. I hate having longer hair as I detest the feeling of hair on my face.

I'm super pale and will not use fake tan or tinted body lotion. I won't be kidding anyone that I suddenly have colour.

Never had highlights or a manicure and I shape my own eyebrows.

Deathraystare · 22/03/2018 15:50

Well I really need a hair cut but I am not having one as I want my hair to grow. I am very happy that it is now looking wavy like it used to. What I am not so happy about is the grey/white streak showing through on my dyed bright red hair. I know red is that worst colour to keep up but i do love it so. Now I have some money I can get it touched up again. Phew!

TossDaily · 22/03/2018 15:58

Bra intervention made me feel as if I was walking around strapped into a medieval instrument of torture.

I bloody love my uggs.

I wear leggings.

I love slogan jumpers and t-shirts.

I love a breton, and will often wear one with Converse and look like a complete cliche. I give not a toss.

I have a mum bob. Because I'm a mum. And a bob suits me.

I have a pair of DMs, which I like to wear with maxi skirts and dresses and a big jumper. Just like I did when I was a student in the 90s.

I mix silver and gold jewellery.

I'm a mess and should never leave the house, clearly.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/03/2018 19:30

silverstreaks I also self identify as a 50 year old woman. although sometimes wonder whether self identifying as a 50 year old man might be a darn sight easier

OCSockOrphanage · 22/03/2018 20:52
