Just done bra intervention- this can't be right, can it?

Pretty small of bust, I generally wear 32B. I've tried bras of this size in the past and breast tissue hasn't filled the cup, so it's a bit hit or miss whether I even think I'm this size, rather than an A.

I've just done the Bra or Bust intervention thing. Apparently I'm a 28 E. Whaaaat? This can't be right can it, especially as I don't have enough breast tissue to even fill a B cup most of the time...

Does the intervention not work for those small of nork?

I’ve just ordered a 28F and FF due to the bra intervention method. Considering the 30D I tried on the other day had a 4 inch gap at the band it seems unbelievable, but I’m willing to try. I, also, don’t think I’m large of nork so it’s even more unbelievable, but I’ll see.

Justwaitingforaline · 24/02/2018 19:00

I went from a 32B to a 28E, OP. It fits like a glove and I’ve never felt so supported! Grin

LuckyLuckyWoman · 24/02/2018 19:02

eeek I just tried this. Currently in a 36G, this method says 32GG or 32H

Intrigued, I want to go bra shopping to see if it's right

OlennasWimple · 24/02/2018 19:06

Lucky - do you find that the bra band tends to ride up, rather than sit horizontally across your back?

mumtomaxwell · 24/02/2018 19:43

Did bra intervention a year ago, went from 34b to 32dd. I suddenly have boobs and my bras never ride up!! They are getting a bit gapey now but I bought 3 a year ago and haven’t been back! I hate bra shopping because I always feel like a fraud Blush

ilovetvandchocolates · 24/02/2018 19:47

Yes that's right 30D will fit if you can't get 28E

Oldraver · 24/02/2018 20:19

The calculator currently puts me at a 34 H...even a 36 band feels as if I'm wearing a Victorian corset pulled to the max...

mommy2018 · 24/02/2018 22:45

Wow I'm actually quite shocked. I just stumbled this thread and thought I'd have put my data into the booborbust link and my bra is quite a bit off. I'm wearing a 42j at present but my measurements say I need a 40KK. I have no idea where I'm going to get some nice bras from in that size. I've also lost a stone in weight since Xmas so surely my boobs should have got smaller not bigger? At this rate I'll be a an O cup or something by the time I'm 40 :(

Mossbystrand · 25/02/2018 05:50

Don't go to M&S as they'll try to get you back on 32B. I went from an M&S 32B to a 30D measured by the lady in Debenhams. Try the Freya, Bravissimo & Debenhams own brands as they stock small back sizes and larger cups. John Lewis are good too.

@Sarahjconnor - you want this calculator booborbust.com

PaperdollCartoon · 25/02/2018 13:53

@Oldraver they will feel very tight the first few times you wear them, they just need a little wearing in like shoes.

PaperdollCartoon · 25/02/2018 13:59

Also bear in mind that if you’re not wearing a big enough cup the band will feel tighter, the whole shape of the bra changes. So you may well need a smaller band but a bigger cup than you’d think for it to all come together

bananafish81 · 25/02/2018 14:08

I went from a 34B to a 28DD

My boobs are smaller now so I'm now a 28D

I actually wear 30C bras though because the only bras that I've found in my size are deeply unflattering - they're the same style as larger back / cup sizes, and don't work for my small norks. I have been little volume up top so need a moulded cup and a deep plunge, plus I want seamless t shirt bras. I measure 28D but wear the sister size just to get styles that flatter my particular shape

WhiskeySourpuss · 25/02/2018 14:11

I'm dubious... currently wear a 40C but this calculator puts me at a 36G Hmm

TieDyedBumhole · 25/02/2018 14:16

Well try one on and see what you think! The size you get is really a starting point. I measure 32F but always need FF. So see how a 36G fits but be prepared to try 38F/FF or anything around that size. Or go to Bravissimo Grin

WhiskeySourpuss · 25/02/2018 14:19

Closest Bravissimo is Edinburgh or Glasgow so it'll be whatever Debenhams have in stock or online for the time being

I tried this and it was absolute rubbish. The back size was so small i could just about do it up and the cups couldve held at least 2 of my boobs in each one lol

goose1964 · 25/02/2018 15:27

It told me I was a 40H but my 38Ds are a perfect fit.I guess that the difference is because I'm no longer pert

TheKitchenWitch · 25/02/2018 15:33

Yes, utter rubbish for those with small boobs. Strap size is what it is, you can’t really go wrong there, surely? And then sorry, but bigger cup sizes ARE bigger, so my B cups float around looking sad and lost in anything larger. I can only assume that those it works for have been wearing massive strap sizes and squashing their boobs flat.

Trailedanderror · 25/02/2018 15:39

yy to 'the intervention rule' being not so great for smaller backs/ cups/ boobs. As a rule I've found trying on various bras in smaller band and bigger cups than I'd dare gets a good result. I wear 30dd- 32b depending on make. M&S are definitely rubbish though and would have me in an unflattering 35a.

Trailedanderror · 25/02/2018 15:40

@Kitchenwitch- have you tightened the straps?

Lweji · 25/02/2018 15:44

I'm a 28F or 30E, so it does work.

The thing is that if you have less fat, you may need a looser band. But if you measure 28, the band shouldn't be more than 30, or it does ride up.

Make sure you know what to look for fitting wise and try larger sizes as well as smaller to compare the fitting.

Lweji · 25/02/2018 15:52

Don't forget to scoop the breast tissue into the cups when you try the new bra sizes. Or, as I do, bend over, loosen the cups a bit and shake your boobs into place. Grin
