Just done bra intervention- this can't be right, can it?

Pretty small of bust, I generally wear 32B. I've tried bras of this size in the past and breast tissue hasn't filled the cup, so it's a bit hit or miss whether I even think I'm this size, rather than an A.

I've just done the Bra or Bust intervention thing. Apparently I'm a 28 E. Whaaaat? This can't be right can it, especially as I don't have enough breast tissue to even fill a B cup most of the time...

Does the intervention not work for those small of nork?

My bras do constantly ride up at the back though. & don't always both fill the cups properly. I was measured at Debenhams last year.

ScienceIsTruth · 13/03/2018 17:55

Sorry that should've been 38DD originally (the 38F was pre pregnancy).

woodhill · 13/03/2018 19:03

What I don't like is when you order a bra in a larger cup and the back is really wide with thick straps even though I'm not that big

blc33 · 13/03/2018 19:21

Thanks. It fits fine when it’s on backwards so is it the cup size that’s causing it to feel too tight on me? Should I try a 32g then?

RingtheBells · 13/03/2018 19:42

Yes I don’t like the thicker bands and straps which seem to start at D cup. I am 34D measure 33/37 so not very big chested just a tall fairly broad size 14

woodhill · 13/03/2018 19:44

I bought curvy Kate cascade which I'm wearing in the next cup size and it's nearly double bandwidth and not sexy

sammylady37 · 13/03/2018 21:00

Can I hijack this please!

I’m currently wearing a 44 FF - which I bought without trying on and just took a chance on. However I’ve lost a stone in weight recently and I find it’s too loose at the back, not supportive at the front and really not doing anything for me.
I’ve just measured myself using the boob or bust method, and rib cage is 45 inches and bending over measuring fullest part is 56. So that makes me a 44GG?? Could that be right?
I’m a size 22 dress size at moment.

Thanks for any advice!

Definitely. I always try the cup size to one that's obviously too big.

Mine are bottom heavy and don't seem much standing up. But I'm a 28F /30E.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2018 08:18

I really am quite flat chested but I have a very wide cup, so I am a 32DD which seems huge to me. Despite this, I have zero cleavage at all, but if I try and wear even a D cup, I spill out everywhere. For me it makes a huge difference the style of bra and some just do not sit right, I absolutely have to try on several to find a decent fit.

Lweji · 14/03/2018 09:12

@sammylady37
If your 44 is new and it's too loose/riding up maybe you need a smaller size. I'd try a 42 and go up a cup size.
With larger sizes you may need to go smaller for good support, don't just measure loosely.
On smaller sizes, 28/30 we don't have much fat to squeeze and may need to go up slightly to be comfortable.
That's why the size guides are only guides for a starter size.
We need to try and look for a good fit around those sizes.
Always try the bras.

Talith · 14/03/2018 16:40

I think it's a load of bollocks, Rigby and Peller have done this for donkeys years. They invariably add two on the cup and take two off the band. Never ever worked for me. No I am not a 32F I'm a good old fashioned 36D! Ended up too tight and too much fabric over my chest unfilled.

Lweji · 14/03/2018 16:48

Never been to R&P but that's not what many people report.

Lweji · 14/03/2018 16:50

Good fitters look for fit, not size from measures.

Even M&S explain well what a good fit should look like but then their fitters fail.

SwimmingInTheBlueLagoon · 14/03/2018 17:08

Sammy If, like me, you have a little extra padding on your rib cage, you'll probably need to go 1-2 band sizes down from your actual measurement to get a band that supports enough. When i meassured 45inch under I needed a 42inch, by the time I was 42inch I needed 38inch band. Just remember to increase the cup size by the same number as you decrease the band.

Off the back of
This thread I took a trip to bravissimo and omg my bra is fitting so much better! Went from 34C to 32D (actually bought a panache Clara which is small made so got 32DD)!

Thanks very much OP!

Do it do it do it!

Any advice on 30f/30ff bras which have thinner bands and straps as oppose to frumpy ones. I'm not that huge

Lweji · 15/03/2018 19:33

How big is frumpy? :)

Here's a selection of 30Fs from Brastop.

www.brastop.com/all-bras-lingerie-swimwear?specs=30f-bras-slips

woodhill · 15/03/2018 20:23

Thanks, Sometimes though the bigger cup bras seem to be scaled up. 30ff seems to be the wider bands and thicker straps

AnyFucker · 15/03/2018 20:32

It seems common to go from 34b to 32dd

This was me and I've never looked back

Passthecake30 · 15/03/2018 20:47

woodhill I'm a 30ff and wear Cleo Maddie. They have thin straps and 3 clips across the back band.

Just done bra intervention- this can't be right, can it?
Passthecake30 · 15/03/2018 20:48

Argh typo. That should read 2 clips across the back, i.e. not that wide!

woodhill · 15/03/2018 20:49

Thanks, is it padded. I usually wear Fantasie bras

Passthecake30 · 15/03/2018 20:53

Yes, it's moulded. I need that as my boobs look too small otherwise Blush. I think it's because I'm tall...

woodhill · 16/03/2018 21:14

Just bought M&S 32E, are they slightly narrower in the back

goose1964 · 16/03/2018 21:16

Told me I was a 40HH odd when my 38DDs fit properly
