Can anyone take a look at my routine and advise please?

What would you add/take away/do differently?

AM
Cleanse (LRP toleraine or Clinique ttdo -is it ok to use ttdo in the morning??)
Tone (Vichy purete)
HA (dragons blood)
TO caffeine eye stuff
TO buffet
Facial sun cream (Nivea import or heliocare both factor 50)

PM
Double cleanse (elemis oil cleanser/ttdo/lrp toleraine)
Acid tone (alternate pixi glow and REN salicylic one)
HA
Vichy lift activ eye stuff
TO buffet
Night cream (Korres wild rose atm but this is coming to an end)
TO vitamin c (not really used this yet as I’ve just finished an una Brennan vit c serum which I was using in place of buffet)

Sunday night I use alpha h liquid gold and no serum/cream

The recent changes are:
Using acid toner in the pm rather than the Vichy
Using the Vichy in the am rather than not toning in the mornings
Using TO stuff in place of other serum (I was using the lift activ eye stuff am and pm previously)
Using proper sunscreen rather than moisturiser with factor 25/30

Sebaceous filaments on nose are slightly less obvious than they were
Forehead very slightly less congested looking
Skin looks a bit brighter than it did
No difference in fine lines/wrinkles
I’ve always had those dark circles (since childhood) so don’t think anything will change those, although I live in hope.

Any advice?

Looks alright to me Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2018 10:13

You are over cleansing.

You definitely don’t need it in the morning unless you work a night shift of something.

pieceofpurplesky · 28/01/2018 10:14

You are doing too much. Too much cleansing.
Also a lot depends on your age - if you are 20 or 50 the response will vary

Ariela · 28/01/2018 10:14

I'm a minimalist.

A (nice natural)soap and water/shower.
Nothing but a wide brimmed hat and keep out of the sun as much as possible in the UK, if abroad I'd use sunscreen.
Make up only for special occasions.
A good diet, with lots of fresh veg and fruit. Very little processed, cooked from scratch.
Don't care if I have lines - they're laughter lines anyway.
Don't worry what others might think, they can take me as I am.
Life is too short and less is more.....

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 10:18

I would recommend Clinique City Block on top of moisturiser.

Also a retinoid - has made a huge difference to my skin, after an initial awful purge.

How old are you? It's not for everyone, but I'd recommend Botox for those forehead lines if they bother you.

DextroDependant · 28/01/2018 10:20

That seems a lot of stuff and I donteven know what half of them are!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2018 10:27

I would also alternate the acid toner with a retinoid, but of course it all depends on you age as well.

How old are you?

Callamia · 28/01/2018 10:28

Too much! Give your skin (and your finances) a rest.

I have had the most troublesome skin, and I’ve now settled on a bare minimum. My skin is in better condition now than it has for years. I use a face wash in the evening, cerave serum and a light PM moisturiser (morning - hard water makes me skin feel tight after a shower). My foundation contains a sunscreen. I occasionally (once a week) use an acid toner - not every day, no way.

I could probably use an eye cream a couple of times a week, but definitely not everyday.

misscph1973 · 28/01/2018 10:31

Firstly, your face looks fine to me. What do YOU think the problem is? Secondly, all those products! I would think that would stress your skin. Over the years I have found that the less I do, the better my skin is. If I were you, I would find a good quality fish oil (Efamol is good, but find a supplier who keeps it cold storaged and keep it in the fridge once you get it) and start on the oil cleaning method. Expect some purging, but stick to it.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2018 10:31

And lastly , I would probably skip the toner on the morning as well.

You don’t need it, you are acid toning the living daylights out of your skin anyway.

Peanutbuttercheese · 28/01/2018 10:31

I had a full medical for a job when I was very young. The Doctor asked if I had allergies, I told him I was allergic to make up.

He said he though that putting lots of different stuff on to skin especially make up and fiddling in general was very bad for skin as it's all chemicals.

So due to allergies but also his words I have spent a lifetime of minimal fiddling. I use simple cleanser and moisturiser in the morning and sometimes at night I use some ponds cold cream. I very rarely wear make up.

The best advice is what Ariela says stay out of the sun. Culturally my heritage on my Fathers side try's to avoid the sun as getting a tan is seen as lower class. My Father died aged 85 with almost no lines as he avoided the sun.

Bluntness100 · 28/01/2018 10:31

I'm not sure what's wrong with your face, it looks fine to me, but I've also no clue why you're doing all that crap to it either. Sounds like you drank the coolaid of the marketing blurbs.

Personally I use a simple wipe to take my make up off and bung some moisturiser on before make up to prevent make up sinking in. Face gets a wash with water in the shower, and genuinely everyone comments I have good skin.

I'd advise cutting down, you don't need to do all that shit.

Ragusa · 28/01/2018 10:32

The best thing I eve bought for my skin and now the only thing I use aside from soap is a 12% AHA cream. 2x per day. Brilliant. No more zits.

Lolly17 · 28/01/2018 10:33

How can you be arsed to do that much stuff everyday 😳

SuburbanRhonda · 28/01/2018 10:36

And more to the point, how do you find the time?

Shockers · 28/01/2018 10:39

I agree that most of that routine is purely for the benefit of the product manufacturers, rather than your skin.

Oh, and you definitely don’t need Botox! Confused

Your skin is lovely; try not to obsess over every tiny (normal) blemish.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2018 10:41

There is nothing wrong with putting stuff on your face if that makes you feel better.

OP clearly likes it and can find the time to put it on.

There is no need to attack her choices because they are not yours, all she wants is some advice.

Rudeolf · 28/01/2018 10:42

Blinkingheck I use a value babywipe with soap twice a day. Moisturiser
quick before work.

I am lazy & look like shit though.

Fruitcocktail6 · 28/01/2018 10:45

I have absolutley no idea what half of your post means. What is HA dragons blood and what does TO stand for?

I give a quick wipe with a flannel in the morning and dab a bit of Clinique day cream then do make up. At night I wash with a cleanser and moisturise after. Exfoliate about once a week.

tiffanysfanny · 28/01/2018 10:45

I would cut out the vitamin c or change it. They are meant to give a yellowish undertone and with your skin it's not working. It's making it look tired. What you could do is try a different vitamin c which is not daily.

Your skin itself looks good. It's looks smooth and silky.

Before I try and make a suggestion, what's your aim and do you wear makeup and how much?

I don't know why, but the caffeine thing is making me think it's giving you the colour you have under your eyes.

tiffanysfanny · 28/01/2018 10:46

Cut the cleansing by half. You are doing to much

Fruitcocktail6 · 28/01/2018 10:47

Might just be me but acid toner sounds scary and really not something I'd want on my face.

tiffanysfanny · 28/01/2018 10:51

I agree with @Fruitcocktail6 it's meant to peel off the top layer of your skin by exfoliating it. It can be hash on the skin.

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 10:55

Baby wipes? Shock

As Caroline Hirons says, they are for fannies, flights and festivals.

If you email TO about your concerns, they will look at your regimen.
