Ok so this is the horrible reality of my face

Can anyone take a look at my routine and advise please?

What would you add/take away/do differently?

AM
Cleanse (LRP toleraine or Clinique ttdo -is it ok to use ttdo in the morning??)
Tone (Vichy purete)
HA (dragons blood)
TO caffeine eye stuff
TO buffet
Facial sun cream (Nivea import or heliocare both factor 50)

PM
Double cleanse (elemis oil cleanser/ttdo/lrp toleraine)
Acid tone (alternate pixi glow and REN salicylic one)
HA
Vichy lift activ eye stuff
TO buffet
Night cream (Korres wild rose atm but this is coming to an end)
TO vitamin c (not really used this yet as I’ve just finished an una Brennan vit c serum which I was using in place of buffet)

Sunday night I use alpha h liquid gold and no serum/cream

The recent changes are:
Using acid toner in the pm rather than the Vichy
Using the Vichy in the am rather than not toning in the mornings
Using TO stuff in place of other serum (I was using the lift activ eye stuff am and pm previously)
Using proper sunscreen rather than moisturiser with factor 25/30

Sebaceous filaments on nose are slightly less obvious than they were
Forehead very slightly less congested looking
Skin looks a bit brighter than it did
No difference in fine lines/wrinkles
I’ve always had those dark circles (since childhood) so don’t think anything will change those, although I live in hope.

Any advice?

Baby wipes? shock

As Caroline Hirons says, they are for fannies, flights and festivals.

And as rudeolf says, they’re for cleaning your face in the morning. Each to their own.

creaturefeatures · 28/01/2018 10:59

You might want to drop in to the expert thread on regimens for this OP (unless you want people telling you to use baby wipes and Olay!)

Here it is...

GreenSeededGrape · 28/01/2018 11:00

That is a shitload of products and effort OP!

You look really tired, I'd just try to get 8 hours sleep and save hours on that routine

Jemma2907 · 28/01/2018 11:01

That sounds like a lot of products! Have you tried cutting down to basics and seeing if things improve to how you want them? Maybe trying nothing and seeing how your skin reacts then add products back one at a time depending on reaction? I'm one of those lazy people who just use water in the shower in the morning to take off the previous days make-up! I then use a boots basic facial wipe to remove the excess before I apply make-up for the current day. No moisturizers, cleansers, toners. I never have though and my skins has never needed it (though perhaps I'll regret it when I'm older?) X

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 11:03

There is a group on FB for The Ordinary and Deciem. It's hardcore, they are all experts.

PootlesLovelyHat · 28/01/2018 11:10

Good grief that seems pretty high maintenance to me!

I'm mid 40s and have found the best thing for my skin is a better diet and at least 8 hours sleep.

eggncress · 28/01/2018 11:11

Sounds like you are using too much stuff.
I use an exfoliating wipe, moisturise with Lidl Anti wrinkle cream... I swear by it ( contains hyaluronic acid) and is better than any of the expensive creams, for me, having experimented a lot.
Like others have said, for skin, less is more.
Good fresh diet and lots of water too.

Rollypoly100 · 28/01/2018 11:14

Keep it simple. I just use Nivea soft cream as a cleanser wiped off with a hot flannel. I can't afford Eve Lom, Liz Earle etc any more and my skin looks way better than when I had the cash and could afford the high end stuff.

spankhurst · 28/01/2018 11:18

I am 47 OP and have reasonably good skin (sensitive, v pale, still a bit oily) by splashing with tepid water and moisturiser in the morning, and a gentle but thorough cleanse at night and decent night cream. You seem to be doing a heck of a lot to your skin. Chillax a bit, eat well, plenty of water and sleep. Your face looks fine to me btw!

spankhurst · 28/01/2018 11:19

I don’t ‘splash’ with moisturiser, obviously!

Magpiemagpie · 28/01/2018 11:25

I think it depends on if your happy with how your skin is or not
That's a huge amount of products and you probabLy only need a fraction of them

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/01/2018 11:29

Morning - quick face scrub in shower. Clinique yellow moisturiser. Night to take makeup off - face wipe, hot flannel and face wash, Clinique toner. I do a clay face mask once a week. My skin is no better than when I tried lots of things, because I was annoying it!

VaguelyAware · 28/01/2018 11:30

Definitely recommend the skincare thread that Creaturefeatures linked to.

VaguelyAware · 28/01/2018 11:31

I can't believe people still use facial scrub. So damaging.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/01/2018 11:34

Vague, are you seriously getting a dig in about people washing their face with a scrub?

mintmagnummm · 28/01/2018 11:35

You definitely need to move this over to the fantastic skincare thread linked above! People on here saying your doing too much etc are wrong, if they want to keep their routine simple then that's fine but they shouldn't be telling you your wrong because you're not! Seriously get over to the other thread otherwise your just going to end up thinking you need to just use a wet wipe then some Nivea!

Amilliondreams · 28/01/2018 11:35

Bloody hell what a palaver. And your face looks perfectly fine in that photo.

SukiTheDog · 28/01/2018 11:40

You’re overworking your skin. I’d go cold turkey, if I were you. I use a Dermol Cream (Dermol 500) to cleanse and rinse with warm water. Then I use my Foreo Luna with the same cleanser gently; then rinse. I use the same Dermal Cream as a moisturiser.

In the day I use Fade Out spf 25 as a Moisturiser with my Clinique City Block 40 spf on top.

I’m 55 and have pretty good skin.

Andijustknew · 28/01/2018 11:41

I use water and some nivea and my face is fine! You're worrying about nothing.

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 11:42

What mintmagnummm said.

You need people that are serious about skincare.

SukiTheDog · 28/01/2018 11:42

This .. £12. Does it all, for me. So gentle.

Ok so this is the horrible reality of my face
skinnyamericano · 28/01/2018 11:42

Drink lots of water, get lots of sleep and eat well.

I just wash in the shower (charcoal wash seems to keep spots away), tone then moisturise with an SPF.

Evening - nothing! But I don’t wear make up, so none to take off.

MaureenNervosa · 28/01/2018 11:43

Just wondering if you need to use both the dragons blood and the TO buffet in the morning? And both the TO buffet and the night cream in the evening?

If you acid tone shouldn't you be following it with a hydrating toner?

I am no expert though and agree with the PPs saying go to the dedicated skin care threads. They will sort out your routine Smile

rightknockered · 28/01/2018 11:44

I have a similar routine to your's OP, but I alternate with Retin A, and use glycol acid on the evenings that I'm not using Retin A. I also regularly use Rosehip seed oil under moisturiser in the evenings. I don't know how old you are though, I'm in my 40's. Things like lines don't bother me and I don't Botox or use fillers. I always use a separate spf50 on top of moisturiser
