Can anyone take a look at my routine and advise please?

What would you add/take away/do differently?

AM
Cleanse (LRP toleraine or Clinique ttdo -is it ok to use ttdo in the morning??)
Tone (Vichy purete)
HA (dragons blood)
TO caffeine eye stuff
TO buffet
Facial sun cream (Nivea import or heliocare both factor 50)

PM
Double cleanse (elemis oil cleanser/ttdo/lrp toleraine)
Acid tone (alternate pixi glow and REN salicylic one)
HA
Vichy lift activ eye stuff
TO buffet
Night cream (Korres wild rose atm but this is coming to an end)
TO vitamin c (not really used this yet as I’ve just finished an una Brennan vit c serum which I was using in place of buffet)

Sunday night I use alpha h liquid gold and no serum/cream

The recent changes are:
Using acid toner in the pm rather than the Vichy
Using the Vichy in the am rather than not toning in the mornings
Using TO stuff in place of other serum (I was using the lift activ eye stuff am and pm previously)
Using proper sunscreen rather than moisturiser with factor 25/30

Sebaceous filaments on nose are slightly less obvious than they were
Forehead very slightly less congested looking
Skin looks a bit brighter than it did
No difference in fine lines/wrinkles
I’ve always had those dark circles (since childhood) so don’t think anything will change those, although I live in hope.

Any advice?

I'd post on the thread linked up above too, they really know their skin care and won't make ridiculous comments about using wipes or soap.

The vitamin C should be used in the AM. Your routine sounds pretty good otherwise but I'd reduce the acid toning to a couple o times a week. Also make sure your skin is damp when you apply HA.
I'd also include retinol at night a couple times a week, starting on a low dose and building up.
Switch eye creams and try something else, To one doesn't get great reviews.

Your skin looks good and your seeing improvements, what are your main concerns now?

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 12:20

I thought the op was having a laugh! Can't believe how many women are taken in by it all. I feel sorry for people who are brainwashed by religious cults and MLMs. I'll add skin regimes to the list!

barbitarojo · 28/01/2018 12:27

I don't think I've done all that to my face in my 30 years let alone in a day!
I'm not an expert so Won't tell you what to do but I think my skin would be a wreck if I did all that to it everyday

Temporaryanonymity · 28/01/2018 12:30

I have no idea what half of the things you mention are. I'm 42. I have no lines on my face. All I have ever done is use water to wash my face, a daily moisturising cream with spf and a spot of night cream when I remember.

I drink lots of water and try and get enough sleep. I have never had spots or oily skin though.

DenPerry · 28/01/2018 12:34

What is all that stuff!? I am 32 and just use baby wipes to take my makeup off... I feel like I'm missing a trick Grin

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 12:59

Stop using baby wipes!

Why are people replying on this thread when they've no idea about skin care?

RoseWhiteTips · 28/01/2018 13:14

You are wearing yourself out applying all that gunk. Your skin needs to breathe and you need to rest.

BusterGonad · 28/01/2018 13:17

I too think you are using way too many products. But I do not use the retinal and AHA stuff because my skin dislikes it. I'm all for soothing products. I use a creamy cleanser or an oil cleanser (Decleor), no toner, Nip and Fab kale moisturizer and an eye cream for sensitive skin (can't remember the brand, it's French). My skin very rarely becomes bumpy or flakey but when I used anti aging products it would react all the time. The less chemicals the better imo.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2018 13:21

Your skin needs to breathe and you need to rest.

What utter nonsense. Skin doesn't breathe.

It gets oxygen from your blood, but it does not process oxygen from the air.

veryveryquietly · 28/01/2018 13:31

Another here who would introduce a retinol and alternate it with the acid toner and/or vit C. Specifically TO retinoid 2%, which is cheapish and mild so little lost if it doesn't agree with you. Introduce once every 3 days or so until you get used to it, then go up to every other day, alternating w/ PGT or similar.

ttdo seems awfully heavy for morning. And is the Vichy toner in the am necessary?

I have dark circles like you and they're pretty much hereditary. The TO caffeine stuff did nothing for them, and just added another step. General hydration, inside and out, plus better sleep can help reduce appearance, but they aren't likely to fundamentally go away.

Overall, I'd cut down on the morning steps, and using them just to prep for the day, and reserve the 'treatment' steps (acid toning, vit C, retinoid) for evening when you can take your time layering and such.

Grammarist · 28/01/2018 13:37

Wow! What a lot of stuff to put on your face/deal with/buy.

Just wash, use a very simple cleanser and a good moisturiser and leave your skin alone!

The product companies must adore you!

CoolCarrie · 28/01/2018 13:52

I just wash my face in the morning with Dermlogica cream cleanser, every second day use their very fine milled exfoliating power, then moisturiser & sun block. At night I use a cream cleanser to remove any make up, oil and the sun block, then a rose water toner, an eye cream and night cream. On a Sunday use a face mask for moisture, and maybe mid week a deep cleansing one. Less is more I think when it comes to your skin.I think you are using too much stuff op.

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 13:54

Lol lonesurvivor that cuts both ways!

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 13:56

This obsession with sunblock! Now at night as well??Shock

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 13:58

Sorry misread. You were removing the sun block at night not applying it. Phew!

www.beautypedia.com/skin-care-reviews/brands

This is a great non biased site for reviews on products. It's important to have products that work for your skin type and concerns, there's no point using something that doesn't suit your skin.

I have great skin inherited from both my parents. No real issues and isn't aging fast. I consider myself very lucky but I'm also very aware that if I want to keep it looking fresh and good I should take advantage of products that will enhance my skin and slow down aging.
Our face is exposed every day to the environment with all its pollutants, it's daft to think it doesn't need help keeping it in good condition. You wouldn't wear clothes daily and expect them to last without taking care of them and making repairs when necessary why would anyone think their outer layer of skin deserves any less care?
Retinol and a good (separate) Sun screen make a huge difference to the aging process. People criticising your routine are clueless about what each separate product does and only see "stuff" and not the actual product.

I've simplified my morning routine with cleansing, HA/vitamin C, serum, moisturiser and Sun screen.
Then primer and makeup.
Evenings as soon as I use Eve Lom cleanser, This for me is the holy Grail of cleansing it does so much for my skin but it's £££. I then use Retinol/acid (alternating) then I apply HA, then a couple of different serums and oil/moisturiser. I give at least one hour between everything.
I've gone from having lovely skin if a little dull to beautiful glowing skin with much less lines. Makeup goes on much better and lasts longer.

Lonesurvivor · 28/01/2018 14:05

*evenings for me as soon as I get in I cleanse

SuburbanRhonda · 28/01/2018 14:30

Stop using baby wipes!

I’ve just skimmed that article and can’t see the advice to use baby wipes for your fanny, as you mentioned in your previous post. In fact she specifically says she doesn’t think wipes are suitable for your nether regions.

And she recommends £12 wipes because, amongst other things, “most contain alcohol”. Not my supermarket own-brand ones! No alcohol at all and they cost considerably less than £12.

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 14:34

My impression of the wipes article was to use them if there was no water. I took this to mean that water was the best cleaner, better than wipes AND products.

Ollivander84 · 28/01/2018 14:36

running - no. She recommends cleansing twice a day but removing it with a warm damp flannel hence the no water comment Smile so wipes are better than not cleansing if there's no water to do your routine!

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/01/2018 14:47

I wash twice a day, why wouldn't you?.

Grim.

runningoutofjuice · 28/01/2018 14:58

Ah, ok I see

Ollivander84 · 28/01/2018 15:03

Mine is fairly simple but it took a lot of trial and error! Takes about 5 minutes
I dropped retinol as my skin wasn't liking it and I dermaplane with a scalpel every few weeks to get rid of facial hair and dead skin

Am
Cleanse with boots botanics lotion
Kiku masamune lotion as toner
Serum - usually a HA one
Nip fab kale fix moisturiser

Pm
Eye makeup remover - boots own brand
Cleanse with LRP toleriane and flannel
Rosewater to get any last bits of cleanser off
Serum/oil if needed, usually REN omega 3
Yes to cucumber calming moisturiser

SukiTheDog · 28/01/2018 15:09

Fuck’s sake! Skin does not breathe
