Here's a new thread as the old one is getting very full Xmas Grin

I'm pleased with this, my lips could do with a bit of plumping!

MoonlightMedicine · 20/12/2017 09:40

Today’s will probably look lovely over the Stila lipstick from earlier in the month.
It’s gorgeous but can’t say it has done much plumping on my lips.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 20/12/2017 09:59

I like the lipgloss! I would maybe have preferred a darker tint but this is so sheer and glossy that I don't really mind it being pale. Not sure if it's plumping but it feels nice and tingly and fresh and has stayed on well so far. A result.

There have been three real duds for me so far - the blender thing (don't use and don't want to use), the Stila lip stuff (wrong colour for me) and the sparkly nail varnish (though I am going to play with this, put it over a darker colour etc so I may come to like it). Some of the skincare stuff (like the REN shot) doesn't seem to do much on my skin, but I will use it up. I know that others have liked all of these though, so to call it junk is a bit much! At least we haven't had a funnel!

chloechloe · 20/12/2017 10:12

Perhaps some were pining for some stickers freaky!?

I think for the price the contents are amazing. It's a huge loss leader for M&S no doubt and a real bargain when you look at the value of the products. I would think most people should find £35 worth of stuff that they like, if they're vaguely into makeup and beauty.

SunnyUpNorth · 20/12/2017 10:12

I am loving the calendar and get excited to open it each morning after my shower. I too am really going to miss it in the new year! I was thinking some of the beauty box companies should start doing a calendar instead and each month you could get one.

I haven't loved every item but didn't expect to and still think it's good value for money. I prefer the skincare to the make up.

Kez0778 I got a primer in an amazon beauty box I got which I haven't opened if you want to swop it for something?

It's called Spackle Treatment by Laura Geller if you want to look it up. It's 15mls.

SaltySeaBird · 20/12/2017 10:15

So far the only thing I didn’t like was the perfume (after swapping my sponge for the lip balm). A few things I’m less keen on but will still use like the day 1 body glow lotion.

When I opened today’s I was disappointed but after reading comments I tried it and I LOVE it! One of my favourites so far. I also tried the glittery nail polish after seeing those nail ombré someone kindly posted and it looks great. I would never have brought or tried that in a million years!

I’ll definitely get the same calendar next year.

I’m 40, love skincare, don’t wear make up daily but do occasionally, tend towards higher end brands and this has been the perfect advent calendar for me.

AlannaOfTrebond · 20/12/2017 10:16

Does today's lip gloss feel sticky or more like a lip balm. I can't stand sticky lip gloss feeling and don't want to waste it by opening if I can regift.

Hit of the week has been the body lotion, nothing has ever been so effective on my bumpy arms, I absolutely love it!

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/12/2017 10:37

Going away to Morocco tomorrow for Christmas so just opened the whole thing... not v impressed with days 21-25 Hmm it’s very samey and the 25 thing is def going to charity shop

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 20/12/2017 10:41

It was stickyish going on Alanna (but by no means as sticky as some I have had!) but now it just feels like a balm now (applied at about 8am)

SaltySeaBird · 20/12/2017 10:46

I hate sticky lip gloss which is why I was initially disappointed but this doesn’t feel sticky or gloopy to me at all.

Hareinthewoods · 20/12/2017 11:17

I've put the lipgloss over the stila lipstick and although it doesn't look bad I don't like the feel of it, very sticky and thick. I would prefer to wear on its own.

FuckYouDailyMail · 20/12/2017 11:38

Could you not have saved that comment until after the 25th Peonies? Hmm

TheLuminaries · 20/12/2017 11:51

Not cool Peonies

TillyVonMilly · 20/12/2017 12:00

I’m sure it says no spoilers , in the thread title Peonies

chloechloe · 20/12/2017 12:06

Let's chill out people, peonies' post doesn't really tell us anything. As this thread has shown, what one person hates, another loves.

peachypips · 20/12/2017 12:36

Stealth boast AND a spoiler- way to go Peonie.

I have loved this calendar. Loved every single thing. Def getting it next yr.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/12/2017 12:56

I have a lipgloss like this already but it's nearly all gone so I'm pleased to have another. (I tend to use it over lipsticks.)
There only thing I'm not sure about is the overwhelming smell of mint.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/12/2017 12:59

Ooh & one of my friends has the M&S calendar & she's very naughty & opened the whole thing Xmas Shock
She hasn't told me what's in the rest of the boxes but she's very happy!

HeyRoly · 20/12/2017 13:04

So many moaning Myrtles in this thread Hmm

I for one have loved it and will definitely get another next year. I've been more than happy to get mostly facial skincare, but am happy with the make up (I only wear neutral lip colours and would have hated red) and who doesn't use mascara?

I'll definitely repurchase the face peel and will try the cheaper version of the dragon's blood product because I can't drop £85 on Rodial.

The only duds for me have been the body lotions because I cba to use them.

Hareinthewoods · 20/12/2017 13:05

The calendar has opened my eyes to other brands and types of skin care, I've loved trying all the different things.

Skinfulnappies46 · 20/12/2017 13:10

oh Ffs NO SPOILERS Peonies?? Thanks for that

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/12/2017 13:49

I'm not sure about today's lip thingy. It looks nice when I first put it on, but I'm not that keen on the overpowering smell (although it does wear off after about 10 minutes). I hadn't realised it was supposed to plump up my lips until someone said it here, it doesn't change my lips in any way. It was interesting to try though and quite pretty on.

CiderwithBuda · 20/12/2017 14:05

I thought today's offering was ok. A nice gloss to wear over a lipstick or stain or to wear alone. On a day where I CBA to wear makeup a quick swish of Bare Minerals powder, mascara and nice gloss makes me feel a bit more polished and takes a minute.

Re Peonies's 'spoiler' - I think the moaning by some about products that a lot of us have been quite happy with just proves that you can't please all of the people all of the time so although Peonies might not have been overly impressed I know I have liked stuff others haven't so I'm sure it will be the same with the remaining days.

Only five more boxes!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 20/12/2017 14:35

Awwww I don't think Peonies' post was bad at all. It doesn't say anything about what the products actually are. I'm just jealous of the trip to Morocco!Grin

I've not been a huge fan of the last few days' products, but on the whole I have loved the calendar. I especially love the skincare stuff (I have very little skincare stuff, just the odd tub of Nivea!) so would be very happy to get more Smile.

TheBitterBoy · 20/12/2017 14:43

I think the calendar has been fantastic value. A daily treat, I get to try some stuff I wouldn't usually splash out on, and anything I do like I can consider buying the full price one in the future. Yes, there are one or two things that aren't for me particularly, and maybe it has been a bit more skincare heavy than last year's, but I've still enjoyed it very much and will probably look at getting one again next year.
