Getting gel nails done for first time in yonks tomorrow.

I'm feeling a bit frumpy and pregnant so want to feel a bit more polished.

Any inspo for me?

Hairypaws, that stamping is fab - do you use normal polish on top of gel polish?

@tobee it is a nail polish that is cured (dried) under either an LED or UV lamp - it should last upto 2 weeks I think.

@MinkowskisButterfly I do the normal steps for the gel then before top coat I add the stamp using stamping polish. Gel won't work and I haven't had any luck with normal polish but I know some are fine.

Love a dark red/purple for this time of year (and all year round if I'm being honest!)

Mines a dark grey sparkle for the Christmas night out. Not sure what going for next (get an infill every 2 weeks) so hanging out here for ideas!

Mine are a greige colour called Rubble at the moment- not sure what it is about this shade but it always lasts forever on me. I got 3.5 weeks out of a set once, and that was over a house move as well 😳

I don't get nail art with the exception of a small half moon of glitter at the nail bed on occasion. I always feel it's a bit OTT with my rings and other jewellery but each to their own.

I love all of these. My nails keep splitting, and one or two have ridges that won't stop growing into my nails, no matter what I do. One nail splits along a ridge in the middle, so painful. I'm pretty sure that trying to buff the ridges out and making my nails thinner as a result isn't helping me. Would gel nails solve my problems? I do worry when I hear about people's actual nails getting damaged, but sick of mine at the moment

In my opinion it does no long term damage to nails at all. Makes em dry and flaky for a bit when you get the gels/ acrylics taken off, but once they've grown out they're back to normal.

Here are mine... deep red with a gold triangle to jazz them up a bit!

@rightknockered I had the same issue with ridges and splitting for ages, but started taking vitamin B complex (B12 B6 B3 i think) three months ago and nails are so different I can’t believe it! No more ridges at all! Currently having a break from gel but love it, getting mine done on 1 Dec.

Need an infill, but they have lasted for over 2 weeks

I went slightly more daring this time and had pink, grey and glittery rose gold bio sculpture. I love them!

I went for shellac in the end in case I go early, if I have a c section! Unlikely but I'm not ripping off gels!

Went for a lovely maroon colour. Can't figure out how to add picture.

@MinkowskisButterfly they were done at a salon. They really are beautiful these ones. It was a coral ish shade one coat then a powder glitter over the top. I get gels done all the time now. I’ll never go back to none/normal polish. Need to get them redone every 3 weeks ish.

Does anyone else get a regrowth gap really quickly?

These are mine, posted above anyway but just so you can see what I mean. The swirls on my ring finger were free hand.

I’ve got hot pink currently. Mine just look like normal nail varnish because the nails themselves are quite short and a natural shape. I love how long they last though.

I wouldn’t have them done to look fake though - imo the very long / very pointy / diamanté additions don’t look nice at all
