I've found a curly hair hairdresser!

I have come away with a head full of bouncy, springy curls. No triangle head. She cuts dry. Not a comb, brush or straighteners to be seen in her kit (she doesn't own them any more).

She just specialises in curly hair. London based (sorry). Not cheap. As she said as I left, I will not need a cut for another 6 months so as a yearly cost it probably works out the same for more frequent cuts at a high end salon. Totally worth it. About a 3 month waiting list for an appointment.

Details here and she also has a facebook page: www.lindseyhughescurlwhisperer.co.uk/

Will pop up a before (which was't awful, awful but a bit shapeless and meh) and an after photo in a sec.

You look fabulous. Love your hair. Smile

PrivateParkin · 10/11/2017 14:46

Wow!! That looks amazing OP!! Good curly hair experts are few and far between.

MessyBun247 · 10/11/2017 14:46

Gorgeous!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 10/11/2017 15:18

You are gorgeous.

I’m travelling to Birmingham for a haircut in feb. First Saturday appointment I could get, booked it about a month ago!

I’m in Liverpool and it would seem that no one wants to cut curls.

Deathraystare · 11/11/2017 14:26

Looks lovely. Miss my wavy curly hair.

BikeRunSki · 11/11/2017 14:36

Wow, good hair!!

You have just given me the only reason ever to move back to London.

BuzzKillington · 11/11/2017 14:46

Gorgeous!

I want to go! First app is in Feb though.

DarthMaiden · 11/11/2017 14:46

Looks amazing Grin

Ah that’s interesting, my daughter has very curly hair, here’s a pic, she’s going to a curly hair salon in Birmingham at the end of the month, first appt she could get also, booked a couple of weeks ago. Think it’s about 70 quid for a cut. Yours looks great, hope she’s as happy when hers is done.

Lindsay is £115 I think - which is outrageous compared to most - but not as much I suppose for London. She is moving to Farringdon next week which is actually pretty easy for anyone travelling in to KX/Euston/St Pancras. Takes an hour/hour and 15 and she does it all.

She trained with Matthew James in Birmingham and went out to New York too I think. She was lovely.

Have washed and styled (globful of gel and let it dry) - all I had to do was make sure it fell forward a bit at the front rather than push it back or too the side.

I will honestly say it is the best cut I have ever had. If it has needed a bit of a primp during the day I have just had to shake my head and the curls spring back into their lovely, messy, curly place.

Here is today:

I know some may think it is too messy - but that is what I wanted. It really allows the curls to move/be alive if you know what I mean. They are not crispy or in a big sheet of stiff curls.

Love it.

How much did she charge for that. Not worth it imo.

My natural curls are never cut that often as they grow so slowly. In beautiful condition too.

Caulk · 11/11/2017 16:55

The one in Birmingham is amazing. Some of my friends have curly hair and they rave about it.

Bluntness100 · 11/11/2017 16:56

It looks great today op. My daughter also said it looks great. Huge improvement on before.

JennyOnAPlate · 11/11/2017 16:57

It looks fab! I go to spring is in the hair in birmingham which is great too. Matt was charging about £65 when I was last there in July.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 11/11/2017 16:58

Looks fabulous- I am mourning the slow death of my lovely springy bouncy curls.... maybe there is still hope :-)

Spring is in the hair is the one my daughter is going to.

CurlyPJ · 11/11/2017 17:05

NamasteNiki well I am glad you are happy with your hair but don't like mine Hmm

Thank you everyone else. I shared as I know how tricky it can be to find someone who seems to understand curly hair!

Your hair looks great OP. I have very curly hair and have been cutting it myself for about the last 10 years as no hairdresser I ever went to could cut curly hair properly. Mine is long and there's loads of it so I just trim the ends and randomly cut bits unevenly so it's not all the same length and it works perfectly but if I ever decide to go shorter I'll have to head up to Birmingham!

gunsandbanjos · 11/11/2017 17:17

I’m so jealous, I’m yet to find anyone who has a bloody clue.

In fact I had my very curly hair highlighted today. I’ve cried lots...

hendricksyousay · 11/11/2017 17:30

Did she advise you on curly girl methods or do you do that anyways ? My hairdresser is fabulous and is very cheap but she is a mobile hairdresser who has cut my hair for years so knows it really well . My hair is massive , I so wish my curls would lay flatter .

user100987 · 11/11/2017 18:06

Looks fab and I think that’s a reasonable price considering you’re not going every few weeks or anything.
