I've found a curly hair hairdresser!

I have come away with a head full of bouncy, springy curls. No triangle head. She cuts dry. Not a comb, brush or straighteners to be seen in her kit (she doesn't own them any more).

She just specialises in curly hair. London based (sorry). Not cheap. As she said as I left, I will not need a cut for another 6 months so as a yearly cost it probably works out the same for more frequent cuts at a high end salon. Totally worth it. About a 3 month waiting list for an appointment.

Details here and she also has a facebook page: www.lindseyhughescurlwhisperer.co.uk/

Will pop up a before (which was't awful, awful but a bit shapeless and meh) and an after photo in a sec.

That's an excellent curly cut op. And your before was good too so even more impressive. I'm interested in that she said the co-washing got a bit hardline - I just left the big fb co-wash gp because I got irritated by that. Although I'd definitely say that's where you start. I've a reasonable good hairdresser but I'm tempted to check this out

gunsandbanjos · 12/11/2017 07:26

It’s brassy and I have massive roots! It looks like total shit.

That photo is half dry, it looks marginally better when it’s totally dry.
Sorry for high jacking your thread op.

Ohyesiam · 12/11/2017 08:36

I quite like it banjo.

littlebillie · 12/11/2017 08:44

Manchester The Hepburn Project Vicky knows what’s she’s doing with curls and dry cuts too

littlebillie · 12/11/2017 08:47

Raised by I’ve had my hair cut into a helmet many tines 🙄 now shoulder length and I go to a hairdresser who listens

akaWisey · 12/11/2017 08:48

I go to Spring in Birmingham too!!!

At 50 something I can't tell you how utterly delighted I am to have found Matt - my hair is transformed and it's well worth the long journey. I'm there in a couple of weeks again.

BuzzKillington · 12/11/2017 10:42

Which Eco Gel did she use CurlyPJ?

DropZoneOne · 12/11/2017 11:03

I had a great hairdresser in my village for 8 years. She didn't cut dry but she understood not to take too much off the length. She left 18 months ago. I had two awful cuts last year (got rid of all the layers!) so I left it to grow. Straight, there were bits of it down to my waist, but it was really scraggly.

Went to a new salon, paid £50 and it's awful. Way too short, the layers are too thick so it just sits there. I said I wanted as much of the length keeping, expecting 2 inches off and she's taken more like 6". I'm having to blow dry it straight which I hate because the beauty of curly hair is washing and leaving!

I'm not going near a hairdresser for at least another 6 months but will need to try (yet another) one.

BuzzKillington · 12/11/2017 12:14

I have booked my appointment and paid the deposit!

Next February Shock

CurlyPJ · 12/11/2017 16:07

Buzz she said any of the eco gels worked, it didn't really matter.

And fab about the booking. You'll have to post before and after pics 😀

Gunsandbanjo you could get a toner put on to take away the brassiness. I also see Lindsey and am growing out too many highlights which have damaged my curls. She said to get a toner so I get an ash toner at any hairdressers, its only about £10.

misscheery · 12/11/2017 16:22

OP, you’re gorgeous! Flowers

BuzzKillington · 12/11/2017 19:02

CurlyPJ I am v excited. I may go shorter - it's bra strap length atm. I feel encouraged I won't end up with the dreaded wide helmet.

JediStoleMyBike · 12/11/2017 19:12

You look gorgeous op! I haven't managed to find a good curly hairdresser yet. One I went to recently cut my hair same length all the way around, then combed it and blew dry it claiming she was just checking the length. Once all dry (massively frizzy, looked like crystal tips) she admitted she didn't know what she was doing and I left with my hair up in a ponytail and crying. Sorted now but total nightmare.

guns agree with PP - the salon should be able to sort with some kind of toner. I like the dye placement personally. I hope they are able to sort it out for you. And enjoy your wedding xx

Wow, I’m now considering being unfaithful to my 14 year standing hairdresser. Now this is a dilemma!

singadream · 12/11/2017 19:14

I am sold. Thank you!

gunsandbanjos · 13/11/2017 19:42

Thank you, I have an appointment on Thursday to make it better!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/11/2017 20:31

Thank you to those of you recommending The Hepburn Project! I'm going to call them in the morning - I live in LIverpool and the next Saturday appointment I could get was for Feb and I really don't want to wait that long. At least in Manchester I can go after work.

Matt at Spring is great (he trained your hairdresser OP) but my hair is so shit at the moment.

littlebillie · 15/11/2017 06:53

Diana post a picture when you are back

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 15/11/2017 14:34

I’ve managed to get an appointment for 9 December, AND I get a train for less than a tenner instead of the £40~ for going to Birmingham which I’m pleased about!

Will come back I promise Smile

DharmaLovesDrarry · 15/11/2017 17:11

Can anyone recommend anywhere is the Dorset area - there's zero chance of me getting to London anytime soon.

I've been embracing the frizz for a few months and it just looks awful and in desperate need of a cut x

ComedyBoobs · 15/11/2017 17:28

Looks bloody gorgeous, op.

gillyweed · 15/11/2017 17:29

I just wanted to second (or third?!) Vickyqueenofcurls at The Hepburn hair project in Manchester.

I've only been once, going again on Friday. I've got more s-wavy curls than your lovely curls OP but she is fantastic. Knows exactly what she's doing, cuts it dry, cowash after, and it was such a good cut it was at least 6 months ago and it still looks OK. Cheap too at about £40!

Can highly recommend.
