Very short skirts when pushing 40 - do you...?

Is this a definite no? I think it suits me (only in winter - denim or corduroy with v thick tights and chunky boots). But if I'm nearly 40 am I deluded? I've read that I'm breaking a golden rule of S&B and don't want to be prancing around like a fool...

There's a photo of me on my christening day in the early 70s. Both my Mum (25) and both grandmothers (both 62) are wearing miniskirts. My maternal grandmothers legs look identical to my Mum's, some legs don't age.

My mum is 70 and is an "apple shape" with properly amazing legs - she wears lots of short-ish skirts (usually just above the knee) and dresses, with either thick tights or leggings, and boots. She looks great!

This is in the Style and Beauty section so it’s meant to be about what people will consider to look attractive and not ‘wear whatever even if it doesn’t suit you/makes you look comical’.

I don't think that Style has anything whatsoever do to with dressing in a way that others might imagine makes you look attractive. Style is about stepping out if those prescriptive boxes. Style isn't apologetic, it isn't bland, it's not about asking if your arse looks too big; it's about imagination and creativity.

Sorry if I offended anyone.Not intended. I'll keep my judgements of women in tight, short skirts to myself.

I suppose I just find covered-up styles infinitely more attractive and stylish. My current favourite ensemble are wide trousers and a fairly loose turtle-neck. Sort of like the pic. But fair enough, each to their own.

Another late mid 40s woman who wears short skirts - with tights in the winter and without in the summer.

I also regularly wear short shorts with tights. I think my legs are good and it suits me. So there.
