short hair looks stooopid on me. i chopped it off myself in a fit of hair rage one night years ago. it didnt look pretty! although i should have known that, because i'd had it short before...had pmt at the time so i blame it on that.

Nemo! You are way too young for a midlife crisis! Ultimately it's a personal choice - as a few people have pointed out, it is a case of whether it suits you or not. I admit I am lucky in that I have pretty thick hair that is easy to keep in good condition - most of my family go grey early (I have a few gray hairs) but still have lovely thick hair. My nan had lovely hair that only became thin when she became very ill. I have had short hair but it doesn't suit me, but my mum does and it suits her very well - though she didn't go short until she was in her late thirties, up to then she had lovely long hair - though she does dye it regularly! Both she and I have very dark brown hair, though she dyed hers red for years but now she is blond and it suits her. You've got to just find a style that you are happy with that's easy to maintain.

the thing is friends would say 'no don't cut it it looks great' - no one is going to say 'it looks yuk' are they?

a friend of ours has long hair almost to her waist and is late thirties - it looks like old hippie hair now - Its thick, good condition etc but just looks old-fashioned. Shes lovely and attractive slim etc but her hair does nothing for her really

bloody hell Nemo I hope the answer is a lot older than 30!!

I've had short hair all my life - couple of inches all over and usually spiky - but after having ds2 (my biological ds) I felt an overwhelming urge to grow my hair - I felt that I needed it long for him to play with (hormones are soooo bizarre...). He's 3 tomorrow and my hair is growing down my back and everyone says it's the best it's ever looked and I absolutely love it. Am hoping to keep it long for the forseeable future - and I'm 38!

I'm 43 and have a longish bob and will probably grow it longer over the summer.
Lou is beeeyewitfull!

30 is so young. Ridiculous to think you are too old for anything at 30.

ja9 · 08/04/2007 21:56

often wonder this myself....

but, like, for the future

consider myself a wee young thing - am 29

I am another 34 yo with long ish hair - shoulder blades. I have a few greys though but have had my hair coloured for years. I don't think that darker people go grey more - it is just more noticeable when they do, because with blonde hair the grey blends in more.
