I'm only 31 though [baby]

And no grey here, thank you very much [indignant]

tinkymummy · 08/04/2007 00:10

mine is waist length, and I'm 37 (today - yipee!). And everytime I ask a friend should I cut it, am i getting too old, they all say NO. And DH says please NO. So I keep it, even though it has no style to speak of, I don't care for it, and it's a pain in the arse.

Gobbledigook · 08/04/2007 10:06

Grey?! I'm 34!!! I don't have grey hair! What planet are you on?!

Frascati · 08/04/2007 10:16

gdg ~ well you must be really lucky then. I have a few grey hairs and I am younger than you

I am nearly 33 and have long hair
It would look shit shorter TBH and I am dreading the day I have to get it chopped off. Think that's still quite a long way off. 30 too old for long hair? Bobbins

Gobbledigook · 08/04/2007 10:23

Hmmm, I have friends in their 30s with some greys showing. Those with darker hair though.

My Dad is in his 50s and you can barely see any grey in his either. I think there is some there but because of the colour of his hair you can't really see it unless you look for it.

Huzzah!

Hulababy · 08/04/2007 10:25

I am 34 and have no grey hair yet either!

Hulababy · 08/04/2007 10:25

Oh, and have dark brown hair too, so not even linked to colour.

DD is same age with dark hair and has had grey bits for a long while.

I'm 34 and have v.long hair...it's in great condition...but still wonder...when is in considered 'not on' to have long hair.
Whenever I mention cutting it...friends & family squeal in horror...it's always been my trademark & I'd feel very insecure without it.

very high % of 34 yr olds on here!!!!

geekgrrl · 08/04/2007 10:34

my MIL is 67 and has absolutely gorgeously thick straight long white hair
guess she should chop it off in the name of style?

Chickbabymummy · 08/04/2007 10:49

Nearly 32, and have medium length mostly straight hair. Can't have a fringe because I have cow lick at the parting! I'm just lazy, if I cut it short I would have to style it and go to the hairdressers far more regularly that I do. Usually ponytail it, but when I'm going out usually twist it up and secure it with a barrette. My trouble I only have one barrette that holds my hair in place and frankly it's seen better days, but my hair being really thick, every barrette I've bought since that one breaks - even the ones that are supposed to be for thick hair! I wouldn't mind any suggestions where I could buy some really decent barrettes...

I want hair JUST like your MILs when I'm older geekgrrl. I love that look on ladies with beautiful white/grey hair.

I have quite a few grey hairs, shorter hair wouldn't cover them up. I would look so rank with a short hairstyle. But I know loads of people think you should chop it all off after you're about 35. Idiots

Hulababy · 08/04/2007 11:11

Why the at lots of people on here being 34 Lullabunnyloo?

Lullabunnyloo · 08/04/2007 11:19

just wondering as i'm 34 whether this is the age we start panicking!!!!

lou33 · 08/04/2007 11:20

i just put a new pic on my profile to see how long it is now, plus i needed one with no grey on display!

ScreamingMimi · 08/04/2007 11:20

I think too many people have long hair in their 30s(or 20s for that matter) and either have never thought whether it still suits them or don't do anything with it. (or don't have a style). Most people look better with some layers or colour in their hair.

I had mine cut about 6 years ago after just wearing it long/in a ponytail. Now it is longer again, but I have it cut every few weeks and have it coloured and it looks better imo

Other than that, I don't think there is anything wrong with long hair.

(I am a semi-regular poster with a name-change btw)

Lullabunnyloo · 08/04/2007 11:28

Wow....lou...you are stunning!

lou33 · 08/04/2007 11:38

no, lol, in the bigger version you can see all the bags and wrinkles under my eyes

anyway thats the length it is now, it was 3 inches or so longer a couple of months ago

nightowl · 08/04/2007 11:43

im 30 next year and there's no way im having my hair cut. in fact, i stopped having it highlighted (its red now) as it was splitting and never got any longer than shoulder length. i always get it cut at a decent salon and get her to put lots of choppy layers through as my hair is incredibly thick and uncontrollable otherwise. i colour it at home, as the grey stripe comes back thicker every time, it needs to be done about every 6 weeks!

(just checked, its down to the top of my bra strap at the back now).

Nemo2007 · 08/04/2007 12:18

lol wasnt being offensive to anyone who has got long hair or suggesting they needed it cut. I was just asking generally is there a point when its a no no or a certain type of hair. I think I am having some sort of mid life crisis[at 29] as all of a sudden am worrying about my clothes, hair etc and its all stuff I have NEVER been bothered about.
