The first one I've seen actually for sale is the John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar. £149 with a great selection of products.
Ordered mine!

The no7 calendar is now on sale at boots. I’m dithering.

I got the no 7 for my mum. Do I need another one? I've the rituals and benefit one! 😀

What am I missing with the calendars?

Aren't they just a very expensive way of getting samples and make up that might not suit?

It's generally a good way of trying small sizes of different products and usually works out cheaper than buying the equivalent size, separately.

Yes, but it only works if you know that what you're getting will be suitable for you.

They are far too expensive to treat as a samples.

Very tempted by no. 7 when it wasn't even on my radar a week ago

Just bought my no7 one (early release if you signed up to the waiting list) - will need to hide it and try and forget about it between now and December!

chardonnay it’s a great way of trying out stuff you may not have spent money on or thought of trying. Yes you could trawl the counters getting lots of samples but where’s the fun in that! It’s also fun opening the doors every morning and getting a little surprise.

I’m still deciding on whether to wait for the space nk offering if they have one this year or the M&S one

chardonnay Yes it's true that there will invariably be some products that don't suit your skin type or colouring. I pass these on to somebody else. But the value of the items in the advent calendars is generally much higher than the RRP of the individual items, often 2 to 2.5 times more. So you get to try new products for a fraction of the cost, which more than covers any loss for non suitable items. I am admittedly a beauty duct and love trying new stuff I may not have come across myself. There are some calendars which don't offer any saving, but these I choose not to buy.

I ordered the Liberty one last year and I am sure it was 6am that it went live. it was fantastic and I loved it.

Not going to go for that one this year as some of the products look the same and I have only just started on the serum and hand cream. The packaging colours also seem similar so I will give it a miss. I will get the M&S one as I will be shopping there anyway.

I am also considering the Space NK gift with purchase but I haven't heard anything about that yet so not sure if they are doing it this year.

I really liked M&S last year. Did a few swaps on here too which was fab. Seriously tempted to go for the Liberty one this year........

For those who didn't know its from 9th November, and is £35 with a £35 spend. I really like the look of all the products so I'm definitely going to hold off and get that one.
