Alexa Chung has just released her first collection. £330 for a polo shirt!! I just don't get the adulation that she attracts. Yes, she's tall and skinny and generally looks ok in what she wears. But so do a lot of ppl. What am I missing?

She seems to have that whole effortlessly cool thing going on. However her personality grates on me I just don't think she comes across as a nice person.

She is the antidote to the Kim kardashian fake look that is also popular
But she has legs like a gazelle so jolie-laide looks fantastic on her anyway
Most fashion is about making very beautiful girls look average

One of those books she 'wrote' got absolutely slated for being shallow, vacuous and little more than a scrapbook though.

Can't comment about anything else but I remember it being absolutely trashed in the press and reviews.

Yep, ITA, hiphop, it did get totally slated as style over substance, but her core audience loved it, so I guess it was a success... (I haven't read it tbh).

I'm actually not an Alexa fangirl at all, but I do think that her style (whatever you may think of it) has had a huge influence. She was doing manrepeller before manrepeller Grin

She's stunning

Nope. Cannot stand her. It is the 'ta-da'! look on her face as if she is ever so clever for dressing herself.

Omg that It Girl book? Hilarious. She actually put in the love letter her boyfriend sent to her which was basically saying how perfect and cool and omg amazing she was. Criiiiiinge.

I think she is very, very beautiful, and so makes horrid clothes look better than they are.

To a lesser degree, the fact that she is young and slender in the extreme helps. But if you put your hands over her face in photos, you realise that she looks great despite the bag-lady chic, not because of it, which is why the clothes ranges she lends her name to are so godawful.

She would look better if she stood properly, ate a bit more and didn't look so pissed off. The last may be a consequence of the first two, of course.

Well i guess it's good that she can wear clothes rather than flash bits of flesh and have a career. She's clearly very beautiful. Um....

She is quite cheerful IRL if you believe her Instagram stories. She seems to be an ardent networker and her Instagram has more of her numerous BFFs than herself.

But she thinks she's hilarious and she's actually quite dry and not particularly hilarious at all.

She was once Alex's girl. (Lucky...) Now she has another Alexander.

I'd rather the UK had people like Alexa to be famous for (does that make sense Confused) then the likes god awful TOWIE lot and trashy Geordie Shore. At least Alexa has a touch of class and doesn't feel the need to get her boobs out and lips plumped up to within an inch of their life! I'm not a big fan or anything but I'd rather see her in magazines than the Kardashian's and all the other trashy lot. I watched a Lisa Eldridge video with Alexa and she seemed nice enough.

I actually have 2 of the dresses she did for M&S and the hooded fur coat, maybe I am a fan after all! 😂

I think she looks good. Always wears nice clothes and very fashionable. Also very beautiful face.

"Needs a pie."

How rude.

I love your dedication to her Nina2b, she does rock red lipstick. She had got a beautiful face but I wish she was slightly less slim, but I'm not skinny bashing I'm just thinking of her influence on young girls.

Sometimes it's nice for young girls to see women like them in the media too. We need all shapes and sizes.

I grew up not being able to wear the same clothes as other girls because I was so so slim. I hated my body and spent years thinking there was something wrong with me. As apparently did everyone else.

Now thinness is "fashionable" I can actually buy clothes that fit me - mostly - and I feel a lot better about myself.

I remember Kiera Knightly kicking off about being branded anorexic by the media and rightly so. Made me feel a little bit more normal.

It was always really about selling her lifestyle from when she was running around London in 2010 being papped in granny chic shoes, a peter pan collar, a Cambridge Satchel, and a good haircut. She's got beautiful bone structure and doesn't try too hard.

I'm not so sure she's as relevant now over here as others have said.

I quite like her but I thought that M&S collection was a shocker. It would have been so much better if they'd signed up someone who actually remembered the clothes (like me Grin)
Can't look at the collection now but will come back later.

I suppose you are right Birds, I'm looking at it from the pov that I never looked like any of the models as I was too big and I suppose that's always made me feel a bit inadequate, not that I'm too worried now, too long in the tooth to care so much and I realize I'm not actually fat!
