I've had a really tough time recently and have a big wedding coming up that I'd like to go to feeling lovely.

I've bought the navy dress in the pic and whilst it looks nice on, I'm not sure it's THE dress. I am also oddly drawn to the stripy asos one but I don't like having my arms on show so would need some kind of cover up.

Can you lovely mumsnetters help me find something really awesome?

I am size 10, early thirties and open to suggestions. Generally sway towards a mid length and like I've said before, like to cover my arms. Legs are pretty good and I'm not averse to a jumpsuit. Budget up to £150 ish. Help me please :)

The gold dress looks amazing! I don't like the striped one.

If you're at all worried about your arms (which you needn't be from the pic) do some yoga planks every morning until the wedding. Very good for arm tone. Smile

I really didn't like the look of that dress from the website, but on you it looks fab! Yy to dark nails, hair up and gold shoes. Cool look.

What lovely messages to wake up to! Thank you all, it looks like I'm keeping the navy dress :) secondary infertility, along with failed ivf (post ivf acne) and a couple of unrelated operations all in the last few months have just left me with a total crisis of confidence in myself.

The dress is from ChiChi London, I discovered the website after realising most of the dresses I was looking at on asos were from there. They have so many lovely dresses but I found a lot were sold out in my size, so I'd recommend filtering on the size you want before browsing to avoid disappointment!

Freya - like the idea of an underskirt, have ordered one to try out :)

Intra - I was on a mission to tone up before the wedding but my ops have put paid to that. Might just have to hope fake tan helps as the high neck on the dress doesn't work with anything over it really.

I also have navy courts I could try with it or I might look for some strappy gold sandals. The gold shoes I have on in the photo are not the comfiest unfortunately.

I Agree it looks nicer on you. I think the high neck is unusual And that makes it more striking. It also shows off your lovely slim waist. I'm sorry to hear about your ivf problems

It's a GORGEOUS dress and looks fab on you. You have a great sense of style. Hair up, and gold drop earrings. I'm so sorry you've had such a difficult time.

It's a fab dress and you have a great figure Smile The only thing I'd consider is whether it's worth taking it up an inch or so? It's hard to see on your photo but on the model (who's presumably tall), it looks like it sits just on or above the knee. I think that length is most flattering on the legs.

I chose the gold/blue dress for a wedding last year, I loved wearing it.

It got lots of comments too. I wore it with navy drop earrings, a chignon, a black clutch and black patent heels and I felt fabulous.

Ooh and a pair of Spanx Smile

I like the style of the dress but to me it looks like it was made out of curtains.

You still look better in it than anything I would wear and I do normally say if you like something then wear it.

You look fab. Go to wedding, you look great.

But I too think that this dress covers up too much of your lovely figure. Too much material. In fact it doesn't show off your figure at all. For future, please have confidence to buy dresses that show you off your figure even more.

You look fantastic in that dress! I love the Chi Chi London dresses and I really want to get one. Unfortunately I don't have an event coming up to justify getting one.

My sister is getting married next year and I was trying to sway her into letting us wear one of the Chi Chi London dresses (I'm a bridesmaid) and she was going to but the other bridesmaid doesn't like them. Sad

I love the dress. Just wear it with those shoes and keep the rest simple. Put on some nice make up and maybe have a hairdresser do your hair if you want to feel extra pampered.

Yeah i like it but i agree get strappy navy or gold shoes. With those shoes it looks a bit wintery.

You have a great figure just get a good spray tan.

Eccentric my bridesmaid dresses were from chi chi and were gorgeous. Cant understand why the other bridesmaid doesnt like them when there's loads of different styles. Sounds like shes being akward.

Please could you link to the underskirt you have ordered? I need one too but many I have seen look to 'heavy'

Gorgeous on you, love it. Love the idea of the tulle underskirt to give it a bit oomph!

OP I've got that dress 😂😂and it does look stunning. Wear it.
I've only worn it twice and I've had loads of comments, yes it does look like it's made from a luxurious curtain but that's part of its uniqueness.

Close you look fantastic. I love chichi. Got a dress from there for ladies day last year and got an underskirt as suggested. It worked well.

The dress is lovely both are but the stripy one to me isnt wedding enough like your other dress.

I would team the dress with strappy gold shoes, gold small bag as i think the ones you have on make the outfit look bit work like but very nice thou

Bloody fantastic dress (the navy and gold one). Not everyone could carry it off but you can. I don't understand the posts about it being too covered up - you can show off your body without revealing any skin at all and yours is in great shape. I would swap arms with you any day.

OP you look wonderful in that dress but the shoes don't work in my opinion. I think strapped shoes would be better. You have a lovely figure and you will wow at the wedding. Take a great big dose of confidence from all these replies!
