I've had a really tough time recently and have a big wedding coming up that I'd like to go to feeling lovely.

I've bought the navy dress in the pic and whilst it looks nice on, I'm not sure it's THE dress. I am also oddly drawn to the stripy asos one but I don't like having my arms on show so would need some kind of cover up.

Can you lovely mumsnetters help me find something really awesome?

I am size 10, early thirties and open to suggestions. Generally sway towards a mid length and like I've said before, like to cover my arms. Legs are pretty good and I'm not averse to a jumpsuit. Budget up to £150 ish. Help me please :)

The strappy shoes are much better with it than the round toes up thread. It looks really lovely.

You look lovely. The underskirt isn't too much (I don't like that huge 50s look) but it accentuates how slim your waist and limbs (yes arms too!) are. The shoes are lovely and delicate. Have a fab time

Update with underskirt and strappy shoes! Not sure how obvious the underskirt is but I like it, makes it feel more dramatic if that makes sense!?

Jury is still out on evening cover up - I promise it looks bad with all the jackets I have tried, it's just too much material with the high neck. Pashmina looked terrible too!

This also maybe worth a try, if you can find one in your size. Would depend on the shade of navy.

Or this looks quite neat and cute.

Textured Could be a disaster, but the shape is a bit biker-ish and might work in a size down?

this jacket has surely got to be worth a try. Would offer more warmth than a thin little shrug and I think the cut would work really well if you get the sizing just right.

I prefer the dress on you OP! Looks lovely, definitely wear that over the stripy one.

I tried all sorts of jackets/cardigans/pashminas etc with it yesterday and because of the high neck, anything loose or with too much material just looked wrong. I hope not to have to wear anything over it, but it's in a marquee and I'm generally a cold person so if I need to, I want to have the option of something to put over it in the evening. I have a black bolero and it looked the best shape with the dress out of the options I tried Blush

You look great in that dress! Your arms are very nice, no need to cover them.

And if you do cover them... Please not with a stretchy bolero. They make people look frumpy imo. What about a short, well cut jacket?

The shoes are nice but very "matchy"...

Gosh, I'm actually somewhat jealous of that dress and those shoes... But I'm in the "3rd trimester"/swollen feet funk.

I didn't say not to wear anything. Just not a bolero.

It's all very well telling the OP not to wear anything over the dress, but what if it is a cold day? I would be utterly miserable if I couldn't get warm.

Ohhhh don't add a bolero, it's so aging and frumpy. Your arms are great.

What about this for a bolero / tight and actually not loads of material in the front so won't distract from your gorgeous dress

Love it, definitely navy shoes though.

Oh and I agree keep the shoes strappy and light as the dress itself is quite heavy

Lots of good advice on this thread!

OP you look great in the first dress and you really don't need to show more flesh as per previous pps comments. High neck dresses can look very classy. I would keep accessories - shoes, bag, earrings - navy though not gold.

How about a navy pashmina as a coverup?

If you don't want to spray tan, what is great is buy a tanning mitt plus a can of Sally Hansen Legs (in one of the darker shimmer colours). Spray the Mitt not your body and then rub quickly in circular motions as if you are polishing a table.
Don't be afraid of it, it washes off easy with water and a washcloth, but won't rub off.
Gives a great effect, easy to apply without streaks, and can be done in 3 minutes. Great for arms and legs if you only want to do just arms and/or legs. You can more if it's not dark enough.

Bright pink shoes and bag. Don't match accessories to the dress. Much more show stopping then. You look stunning in that dress btw

That is a beautiful dress and looks fantastic on you. I like the skirt of the stripey one but the top us a bit too weird/ LA. The one you have is definitely better imho!

You don't need a cover up but if you did want one I would go something navy and cropped.

Those shoes look perfectly ok but I agree for more if a @wow" I would go something navy strappy navy blingy and slightly higher if you can bear it.

Gold drop earrings?
Hope you have a great time.
