Looks like there is a markies in the shopping centre we are going to. If they have the dress I'm up for it. Husband shall be a bit bemused though. 😂😂😂

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 13:11

I don't have the time to run a dedicated blog but I am happy enough to contribute to threads.

Thanks for your votes of confidence, though.

This has made my day. Weeping with laughter here!

OhNoItIsntOhYesItIs · 06/05/2017 13:43

I saw this horror in M&S this morning

And that's how you look like a fat daffodil.

MrsGotobed · 06/05/2017 14:22

Gingernaut you are a Star.

You are brave and selfless taking one for the team like that!

ChristianGreysAnatomy · 06/05/2017 14:43

I work near m&s - it's a great place to go at lunchtime if you need a laugh (and a sandwich). I may have to pop in and find that blamange horror next week.

squoosh · 06/05/2017 15:16

Ginger Mama Cass says pair it with a matching pepto bismol pink umbrella and it will look simply fabulous.

Deathraystare · 06/05/2017 15:50

It's very Abigail's Party, isn't it?

Ha ha! ou beat me to it! I was just thinking that! I can hear Demis Roussos (sp) singing his heart out!

Deathraystare · 06/05/2017 15:50

Demis is seranading Gingernaut!

Here's another delight, this time from Asos ...
band t-shirt with exaggerated ruffle. Hmm

Well, fuck me you're not wrong about the exaggerated ruffle bit!! Looks like the fairy skirt out of a dressing up box has fallen from the sky and just landed jauntily over her head and shoulder.

Floisme · 06/05/2017 16:25

I think the big mistake the fashion industry (cos this isn't just M&S) has made is that, in the 70s, those clothes didn't come from nowhere. We built up to them gradually (you might say, frogs in boiling water style) over the course of a decade. And the politics were very different too. It was still a time of optimism and, after centuries of restrictive clothing and underwear, the loose shapes and the frills and flappy fabrics and lurid patterns were liberating. They can't just present the clothes without any of that context and expect us to take to them.

A1Sharon · 06/05/2017 16:55

I was in M&S yesterday and the phrase that came to mind was 'gilding the lily'. They just can't help themselves.
Lets make a skirt.
Choose horrible material.
And a garish pattern.
But a tie belt on.
And pockets
And give it an asymmetrical hem!

Lets make a t shirt.
Add weird ripped sleeves.
We could extend the ruffles all the way down the top!
And give it long sleeves!
Then add some embroidery?
What about double layers?

They just don't know where to stop!

Ruffles on sleeves, frills on seams, ruffles instead of sleeves.... Jesus!

The vest with frills around the armholes. WTF is that about? How do you put a cardigan, shirt, pullover or jacket over the frills and ruffles without creating lumps in the sleevs?

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 17:01

Sleeves even. Blush

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 17:01

Aw c'mon?! Bold fail?

Sleev e s.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 06/05/2017 17:04

It was in a shop window and caught my eye, I just stood and stared for ages. I think they are trying too hard to be interesting. It is a bit wannabe Victoria Beckham

Gingernaut · 06/05/2017 17:06

Except Victoria Beckham doesn't make circus tents.....

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2017 17:06

Alright I did it. I swear I actually felt friggen embarrassed walking round the shop holding it and when the fitting room lady said "do you want to try that on" I'm sure she looked dubious and I actually nearly laughed.

Anyways. I'm a ten to a twelve and this is the rather charming size ten number. Which bizarrely fits over boobs and arms, and then hangs maternity like over the rest of me.

Needless to say I didnt buy it. So who's turn is it next?

How tall are you Bluntness100?

How long are your arms? Envy

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2017 17:15

Huge lol. I'm five eight, just under five nine, I think I have normal length arms. I've no clue how it was so long on uour arms, I wonder if they are all cut differently. I'm sure the one you were wearing would have been to my wrists also 😂

annandale · 06/05/2017 17:15

Is Posh pregnant again? [confused old mum]
