To be fair to M&S every high street store has a pink ruffle something at the moment, and they're all rather iffy. 8yo dd likes the pink ruffle and the yellow boho dress. If I'm inspired I'll try it on and take a pic.

creamcheeseandlox · 18/05/2017 15:38

Don't they ever learn 🙈

Ive just seen someone actually wearing it at an event!

And she looked good in it. She was petite, silver blonde, and wore it with a chunky silver chain necklace.

IJustLostTheGame · 19/05/2017 08:21

Did you take a sneaky pic?
Unless there is photographic evidence of someone looking less than shit in it I refuse to believe it's possible

MelanieCheeks · 19/05/2017 17:22

Teehee! I didn't get a photo myself, but it was an awards type do, so there were lots of official photos being taken, I shall see what I can find!

I intend to do the ninja-fitting-room-selfie-challenge muyself this weekend.

Akire · 19/05/2017 18:27

M&S Autumn looks more the same... there is no hope! I'm sorry but silly/satin light skirts do not look good with chunky jumpers and ankle boots. Your bottom half is freezing while you boil on top!

There's more 70s delights but in more velvort effects with giant sleeves, and the model is dragging bottom nearly on the floor. No hope for the rest of us then.

The Gucci adverts in the link are even more hideous but that's never going to be my problem!

Gingernaut · 20/05/2017 16:08

I've done it. I've bought that dress.

OMFG! WHAT HAVE I DONE!!?? 😲

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 16:40

Photo! Photo! Photo! (Or it didn't happen).

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 20/05/2017 16:42

Why Ginger?

Gingernaut · 20/05/2017 16:44

There's a meet up happening in June. 😶

IsadoraQuagmire · 20/05/2017 16:46

I have to say, I've seen the comments about M&S and this dress and thought you were all being a bit mean - lots of shops have got especially horrendous clothes in this season, not just M&S - but this morning I walked into the Pantheon branch in Oxford Street and was immediately confronted with The Dress.
My jaw literally dropped in shock. It's SO much worse in reality than in the photos I'd seen. The colour is truly hideous (the photos - or at least my computer screen - made it look a nicer shade of pink) and it looked totally shapeless on the mannequin.

Floisme · 20/05/2017 17:05

I think the dress deserves every bit of the derision being heaped on it. However it's still only one dress and pretty much everything else in my local M&S is their normal stuff. The fashion retailers do treat my city like we all have a nasty dose the pox so it may be different in other branches.

Wine for Ginger

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 17:23

I saw done corkers in the marble march branch but this dress takes the biscuit. They are seriously saying that the designer, stylists, buyers, managers... All said yes to this monstrosity? It's one if those hideous things that you know 99 out if 100 people would boak at.

I hope that they donate the stuff they can't sell to charity.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/05/2017 17:39

Gingernaut - so is your plan to persuade everyone going to your meetup that they have to wear one of the, er, featured frocks from this or the original thread? Grin

Gingernaut · 20/05/2017 17:44

I was dared in not so many words.

I'm 49.

And I'm still up for a dare.....😶 Blush

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 18:40

I'd rather streak for a dare...

Akire · 20/05/2017 18:43

It's twin is back in Autumn Collection, in slightly improved colours but probable same fabric. Are they going make jackets with space for these sleeves? Or produce some sort gadget to hold then in while you get your sleeve on?

They remember be me of dresses mum had in the 1970s. She was very glam and I still remember her going to a fancy black tie do in a turquoise dress like these which had it's wide sleeves trimmed with feathers. Ooo lala!

MinesaPinot · 20/05/2017 18:52

I went into our local branch today and, quite honestly, it was horrendous. You were hit by the daffodil ruffled top and The Dress in the same section just as you went through the door. In fact, as DH said, they seemed to have put all the most awful stuff at the front, making it the first thing you saw as you came in. Ruffles on everything, there was a pretty grim striped maxi dress that looked like something that Margo out of the Good Life would wear, and a floral t-shirt that had some sort of black netting frill over the sleeves.

I'm crap at doing links, so I can't show you, but believe me it was awful.

And it was all polyester.

I am still getting over it....

FreeNiki · 20/05/2017 20:07

Why dont we all make it a mission to try it on and.post a pic here.

See if it actually suits anyone Grin

originalbiglymavis · 20/05/2017 21:23

I imagine it would feel horrible against my skin.

Gingernaut · 21/05/2017 14:34

OK.

It's a stand out shade of bubble gum pink not in keeping with the current trend of coral, terracotta, nude and blush.

I can report that yes, it's a polyester dress, with what can only be described as exfoliating properties.

It's thin enough to see the seams, pockets and yoke under the dress.

The dress washes well but even though polyester is normally drip dry, no. This cunt needs ironing.

The creases created by packing and transport were still there after washing, so a silk ● setting is necessary.

Currently drying on a hanger and I'm looking at it with some trepidation. 🤦

originalbiglymavis · 21/05/2017 17:00

Does it have pockets? That might be a saving grace.

Gingernaut · 21/05/2017 17:17

Chwck out the first two pages of the thread.

Pics. Included. 😶

SuperFlyHigh · 21/05/2017 17:42

It's bubblegum pink. Bright bubblegum pink not light pink, in real life. Saw it in Bromley. Having said that I said someone buy whilst I was there a long dress with daffodils or bananas on a white background.

I've bought a nice blue floral top with slightly ruffled sleeves in Zara - it's off the website now for some unexplained reason but the ruffles aren't too bad. I'm wondering if a designer thinks "the ruffled sleeves will hide bingo wings arms?!". And yes, the top would look better without the ruffled sleeves.
