I'm thinking of getting yet another one. I just love the damn things. Anyone else?

@angryladyboobs do you consider any leather jacket ridiculous? Should a leather jacket be a blazer? Mine is an all saints belvedere - it looks like this. Is this ridiculous?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/05/2017 15:57

A pretentious twat? Yup - that's me.

SomewhereNow · 01/05/2017 16:57

My first biker jacket many moons ago was a proper one bought second hand from a Real Biker at a Real Bike Show. I even wore it on a Real Bike sometimes. So I feel I've paid my dues and am now happy to look like a pretentious twat without giving a toss.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 01/05/2017 17:05

Lois He used to shout CAPTAIN BIRDSEYE or GET THE TARTE SAUCE READY when I put it on. hmm This is a man who dribbled curry sauce down his jumper and didn't bother changing it this evening. Hardly a fashion icon. This just made me spit my tea out Grin

I have a dungaree-pinafore-dress-type-thing which DH always sings the theme to "Play Away" when I wear it.

Note to those who are not elderly like me - Play Away was a children's programme in the 70s

Itsalldramarama · 01/05/2017 17:25

Love leather biker jackets ! Had a fab one in the 80s but lost it at a fields of the nephalim gig ( weird goth band ;) just got a whistles gorgeous soft leather one , hasn't been off my back since , eBay bargain of the year for £80

ErrolTheDragon · 01/05/2017 18:05

If you want a proper biker jacket, get a bike.

Otherwise you just look like a pretentious twat.*

But most of the people who do seem to have bikes nowadays are MAMILs, the epitome of twattishness, disturbing the countryside peace with their noisy machines.Grin

MrsLogicFromViz · 01/05/2017 18:09

I'm a UK16/18 and cannot get into, nor afford All Saints and other boutique brands, but I do own loads of leather jackets though, such as: RI, Next, Boden and my fave, Gap. Most of them were eBay purchases and I am a bit of a leather junkie. Blush

QueenofLouisiana · 01/05/2017 19:47

I have a navy leather biker which I got in the 25% Sainsburys sale. I love it! I've worn it with everything from skinnies to a long skirt on a cool evening on holiday.

SansaClegane · 01/05/2017 20:03

So I popped into HoF today and lo and behold they had quite a large AllSaints section Grin Found the Papin jacket which I'd discovered online; as well as a style called Lewis and tried them on. Bad news: The Papin looked really nice and now I want it even more! Shock But I'm not going to buy it at HoF for £380, even with my voucher that would push me past my comfortable spending limit. Definitely going to Bicester Village on Wednesday and hoping to pick up a bargain there.

Another question, sizing! I'm assuming you'd want a biker style to fit more loosely? I usually buy things to fit me in the waist (hourglass shape) but I'm not sure if that's the way forward with a biker jacket or if it'd look too tight elsewhere. Added dilemma, I'm planning to drop a stone before summer, so again I'm not sure if I should buy something that fits a bit tighter initially or not... any advice appreciated!

MaQueen · 01/05/2017 20:16

I'm 47 this year. Am I too old for a biker jacket???

All Saints makes me quite cross, they are so stupidly expensive. My friend was sporting a plain grey sweatshirt, with a bit of pink satin at the neck, from there recently, and it cost her £105.

I honestly, honestly thought it was from New Look (DD2 has something almost identical from NL, and it cost £15.99).

PhyllisNights · 01/05/2017 20:17

Absolutely not too old, MaQueen!

If I had enough money, I'd buy all of you leather biker jackets from All Saints!

SpikeWithoutASoul · 01/05/2017 20:22

I look at this at least 6 times a day. I want it so much! I have that amount sitting in my account, but I am going on holiday for the first time in years and have no summer clothes so am really trying to resist blowing it all on one jacket.

ChishandFips33 · 01/05/2017 20:26

I never fasten mine Sansa so tend to wear mine on the smaller size

Never too old - saw a pensioner in the supermarket wearing one and she looked fab

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/05/2017 20:31

I'm nearer to 50 than 40, and am definitely not too old! I do think they look better fairly neat thinking, unless on super-skinny young things who are wearing over-sized ones with slip dresses.

meditrina · 01/05/2017 20:34

I had a fringed one as a teen too!

My current one came from TKMaxx. But no fringing.

I think I'm about to have a second bite at a misspent youth ...

SansaClegane · 01/05/2017 20:35

Absolutely not, Queen! Go for it Smile
Thanks for the sizing advice Chish, I'll go for the smaller size then.

The grey one looks stunning - can understand not wanting to spend so much with a holiday coming up though!

MyNewHobbyIsGin · 01/05/2017 20:37

Agree 're sizing down. I ordered the Hush one and tried to convince myself I loved it as much as I wanted to. To give them their dues they refunded me after 6 weeks of dithering. Fitted the Cargo on in AS in want I would call my 'ambitious' size. Sales lady suggested one size smaller and had my Ta Dah moment. Haven't looked back and have been wearing it all winter. Absolutely love it.

MaQueen · 01/05/2017 20:41

Have just informed DH that you have all insisted I buy a biker jacket...he's looking like this Hmm

SexlessinSeattle · 01/05/2017 21:44

I have just bought a vintage Schott perfecto on eBay. So excited!

elephantoverthehill · 01/05/2017 21:49

Um, I am on the wrong side of 50. DM is on the wrong side of 80. She and I had a long discussion and shopping trip to buy her a biker jacket. Do you buy leather because you can afford it? Or do you buy pleather because the styles can be better, it is lighter and you probably will not see it to the end of its days. A weird conversation but an honest one.

elephantoverthehill · 01/05/2017 21:54

Oh and before anyone gets shirty about it she passed her MC test on a Douglas gear stick shift Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 01/05/2017 23:54

Otherwise you just look like a pretentious twat

Ah you think we are all wearing genuine biker jackets complete with Hells Angel patches etc? Because otherwise I think biker jackets, fashion types, are far from pretentious.
Meanwhile back at the clubhouse, I have decided to ignore the Matalan jacket and save up for a proper leather biker. --with patches-

OP posts:
LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 01/05/2017 23:56

with patches fgs.

maqueen I demand you purchase a biker, don't make me ban you from the clubhouse Grin

TeamRick · 02/05/2017 08:32

My DH bought me the black jaeger biker for my 50th Birthday! I love it!
I sized down, it fits on the shoulders, sleeves etc but is definitely a bit tight across the chest done up! So I don't!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/05/2017 08:47

I've just been googling those Schott jackets. They are super cool. Envy
