WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, Feb to April, WEEK FOUR

Gosh, week four already, that's come around quickly. Everyone's welcome.

The rules are:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Well I'm going to try and be better this week - last week was okish, but I have new determination for this week!

I also want to start doing early morning swimming , before the children get up, as once they're up, any hope of doing ANYTHING for myself goes out the window!

Have just reached the end of a very stressful 2 weeks work-wise, so will be able to have a bit more space and time this week.

WideWebWitch · 11/03/2007 22:06

I am feeling very bloated today and was on Friday, which is irritating since I didn't think I was pre menstrual but I am snappy and bloated which makes me wonder...

if in doubt blame the PMT hormones!

jeangenie · 12/03/2007 08:22

Hi there, will try to post this week. Was put off last week as I had been really good the week before but seemed to put on 3lbs

anyway, lack of exercise, body lotion and water allied with going to bed too late are still my big demons
eating healthily, using spf face cream and laughing are easy to manage
porridge with honey, OJ and tea this morning
have brought lunch of borlotti beans, fennel salami (ok, not so healthy but just a little bit of that), avocado and watercress salad
into work early for day of mega stressful meetings which I am ill prepared for due to a w/e of entertaining mixed with a sick DD2
looking forward to this evening already
going to get large glass of water now

have a good week ladies

Morning all.

I've been quite slack from Thursday last week on the food and alcohol front as we had birthdays, parties, visitors etc etc. High on happiness though!

Managed to get an early night last night so don't feel as bad as anticipated today. Back to the programme from today.

really impressive plan to do early morning swims JG - I have no chance of anything like that in the mornings - we are way too rushed as it is. My extra objective this week is to get myself booked onto some sort of exercise by Friday - am fancying either kick boxing or pilates. I need to do a class to get me motivated to turn up I think.

Well done everyone - hard to believe it's week 4!

Iota · 12/03/2007 10:03

dh thinks that I'm looking thinner - and my jeans feel looser, so that's a good sign - I think I might be toning up rather than losing weight though.

Am going to be good again this week as dh is away again

Lizzer · 12/03/2007 10:07

Is it ok if I join you? I could do with some support as been feeling like crap recently and I know its because I'm doing the polar opposite of the 'rules' since before xmas, and can't get back on track

swedishmum · 12/03/2007 11:14

I had a very bad weekend food and alcohol wise. I spent too much time in the house which means I pick at food. Oh well, new week.

CAM · 12/03/2007 13:06

Welcome Lizzer

And Good Day to everyone else as well

Started off today with a pain au chocolat brought to me in bed with coffee and juice by dh. Couldn't say no could I?

Will have a very small salad for lunch today and lots of water.

The antibiotics are working so that I've nearly got rid of my lurgy and am starting to feel like I've got some energy back.

Good luck to all for this week

lilibet · 12/03/2007 13:20

Hello and Happy New Week

I had a wonderful weekend, didn't do anything fantastic but my team won on Friday night (Wigan Warriors Rugby League!!), dh and I have made lots of nice food, been for a couple of very long walks and generally been all lovely dovey

I managed to go a whole week without alcohol as promised, had wine on Saturday night and it was lovely. Think if I can stick to this I will appreciate it more. I am also going to try and buy better quaility stuff as I'm drinking less of it!

Did have a bit of a bad head on Sunday tho'

Glad you're feeling better Cam

Thanks for asking Batters, dd achieved a merit for her poetry recital and a commended for her book reading

Today she has had a singing prep test, a violin Grade 1 exam, sat a General Knowledge test paper in the semi-final of a school competition and is swimming in an inter-school gala this afternoon. I think she'll sleep well tonight.

Sorry I seem to be using this thread as my own chat thread, apologies to all.

For lunch I had a large salad but consisting only of rocket and balsamic vinegar, then a few slices of fresh pineapple to follow.

WideWebWitch · 12/03/2007 18:48

Hello all, welcome Lizzer, will post more later but

granola
an apple
100g Puy lentils with chillis, capers, 1tsp olive oil, black pepper and salt
a few walnuts, 3 brazils and some pine nuts
came in FAMISHED and have just had a 110cal wholemeal roll with Marmite and dairy free spread while I'm waiting for my cod wrapped in proscuitto with lemon and garlic and green beans, which is in the oven
No wine last night
but a VERY late night, 11.30 and a 6.10am start so am knackered and need a very early night. May retire at 8 with a book and aim to sleep at 10.

Batters....not so young and fresh anymore m'dear! Seriously have put on about 2.5 stone too (making me age in a 'I can't wear what I want to wear' way) gone up from a 12 top14bot to an 16top18bot ARGHHHHHH!!!!!

Ok guys i did crap today, what's the point of lying? I'm not focussed and need my arse kicking (permission granted for virtual slap!) I don't know what's wrong with me....

Also, drank a lot of wine last night and felt that horrid hungover hunger that lasts all day. I know I have the power within though.....

CAM thanks, finally I have a use for the face, cos I'm ous of your pain-choc, coffee and juice delivery!!!

WWW - HOW amazing was your food diary?! Again another

Lizzer · 12/03/2007 19:24

been pretty good all day, but have got a nice glass of wine now - BUT have been munching raw veggies all day, and no naughty slips, so am pleased.

WideWebWitch · 13/03/2007 07:28

Lizzer, have a virtual slap from me!

I find it motivates me thinking I have to post my transgressions here (although I know I don't really HAVE to but ykwim)

I ate some pralines and cream ice cream last night which was lovely but not really in the 10yy plan but I needed comfort, I was all tired and pathetic. Went to bed at 10pm and feel SO much better this morning after 8 hours sleep. Am eating granola as I type and have lunch with me, which is 100g red fat hummus, a red pepper, an avocado (will eat half at lunchtime and save the rest for tomorrow, wil have to cut a black side off tomorrow but never mind) some apples, some nuts and will walk at lunchtime again. I did yesterday, despite being knackered, it's a habit with me now, yay! I look better today too

Yes, first week of compressed working batters and it nearly killed me yesterday but this is a good thing: I realise I absolutely CANNOT do these hours and drink in the week so I think will find it easier to stick to no booze in week rule. Am on day 2 this week and feel better already.

Cam glad the lurgy is going, this thread is totally ok on going OT, it makes it all the lovelier imo
lilibet, glad you had a lovely weekemd
Iota, yay on looser jeans
Jeangenie hope your stressful meetings aren't as bad as you fear
Tortoishell, will be v impressed if you do swimming in the mornings!
Puddle, report back on whether you book a class
Swedishmum, never mind, new week, onwards!

well done everyone (or if you were TOTALLY crap!) - btw I read somewhere tihs we that eating loads at the we isn;t as bad metabolism wise as one might think, may look for it and post if I find it.

Day 2 of week FOUR, blimey, that went fast!

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 13/03/2007 08:38

ha ha, thought about swimming at 6 this am, but having been up all night with one or other children, didn't! But I am going to try and do it.

jeangenie · 13/03/2007 09:24

Is it something in the air TS? I was up all night with one or other of ours too. I am at my desk now and it's touch and go as to whether I'll fall asleep here...

had gone to bed early too, only to be awoken for the first time at 12.30am, it just went on from there until I gave in and got up at 5.30. Yawn.

Had delicious wholewheat pasta with chicken and fennel last night, new recipe of DHs and totally yummy.

This bootcamp seems to be working on the alcohol front for me - when I got home last night DH asked if I wanted a G&T as he was mkaing one for himself, my immediate and automatic response was "are you completely barking mad man - it is MONDAY". That would NOT have been my response a few weeks ago, I'd have bitten his hand off for it!!!

anyway, completely exhausted today so who knows what I'll have to eat to keep going,am already on double espresso No1 (though I did bypass the pain au raisin shop en route)

have a good day everyone

today has been a good day so far:

special K for breakfast, spicy lentil soup for lunch and my Pilates class in an hour.

somehow I'm finding this warm sunny weather is quite motivating - miserable weather always makes me want to hibernate and eat carbs.

yoyo · 13/03/2007 12:26

Not had a good few days but am feeling more positive today so here we go again.

Have done my Pilates but no walking yet - will get that in after lunch.
DS up again last night so had a rubbish sleep; will be having a very early night to make up for it.

Lizzer · 13/03/2007 12:47

Slapping and insults working so far today, thanks dear girls! Sat here with a plate of smoked salmon and rocket, pint of water in hand, spf face cream on. No booze last night. So i'm getting there, yay!
Hardest bit is the going to bed early, was still up at 12.45 last night...
Walking is crap but don't sit down all day at work, though I know it's not exactly good exercise, I promise to walk for an hour every thurs and fri cos I don't start work til 11 both days (just typing that out loud for my own guilt levels later in the week!!)
www - what a great 'leader' you are, very motivational

Want to book pilates, feeling inspired!

BTW has anyone tried powdered 'superfoods' from health shops? I've bought some for dd really cos she's v post viral at the mo, but it tastes like crap and hard to get into her, so I'm starting it myself [yuck emoticon]

Good luck everyone
