Thanks so much for coming Hattie! It really was quite something, wasn't it. I was. It's highly emotional and enraged by DS getting stuck behind the tallest girl there, and by the girl singers at the front who didn't sing a note and just stared around, fiddling with their hair. I restrained myself from making a formal complaint. DS enjoyed himself thoroughly, which is what matters I believe. La Madeleine is a remarkable place - massive and gaudy, yet gloomy.

hattymattie · 29/04/2017 20:39

I enjoyed it Herbs and discovered that lots of nice concerts are on there - Mozart's Requiem tomorrow. I don't like The Madeleine - no windows. Did DS enjoy himself?

herbaceous · 29/04/2017 20:55

He had a great time. I Was Glad was his favourite. Apparently we won't be able to see him at Notre Dame - they'll be in the choir bit miles from the 'audience'.

CointreauVersial · 29/04/2017 21:21

I adore "I Was Glad". Sang it in St Paul's Cathedral in front of Prince Charles, I did! (age 12, Barnes Wallis Memorial Service). Good to hear he's enjoying himself, Herbs, and don't worry about where he stands and who sees him. Remember, there's no "I" in "Choir" (err....).

Have bought paint for bathroom, and while rummaging in the "Reduced" aisle at B&Q found a tin of gorgeous deep turquoise chalky paint for £9, which will be perfect for the end wall of our kitchen. Also bought this from a shop I hardly ever buy from, as I'm about twice the age of their target demographic. But I saw it on a couple of blogs and fell in love. Will be perfect for summer soirees.

DD1 is dragging me shopping tomorrow, as she needs prom dress shoes.

motherinferior · 29/04/2017 22:41

I am back from Norwich. We combined seeing dad with a party (which he also went to) where I asked a bloke what he did. I'm an actor, he said.

And then I realised he was the chap who played Neil in the Young Ones.

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2017 07:33

MI Grin

Cremo, I think we are on for the holiday - DH and I had a chat last night and decided to book up! Only problem is choosing where to book! I am looking at 1st Aug to 11th Aug, but could be flexible. Also we could do a 2 centre - am thinking somewhere nearish to Argeles/Perpignan for the first 5 days, possibly Spain for the second 5. Possibly fly into Perp and out of Barca or some other combination.
Pool with sunbathing possibilities is also neededGrin

Lalsy · 30/04/2017 08:52

OOh BTM, I am so pleased you feel you can book. We took the dc to Barca last summer and I though it was ideal for family break with their age group. We got the travel cards so we could split up easily and swam in the sea most days. They loved the strange lido thing next to the vast solar panel and ds wakeboarded there.

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2017 09:28

DD is booked to go to Barca in July with her mates. Including the 2 who are still not speaking to her. Or her to them Hmm

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 30/04/2017 09:36

Crem, hope your eye(s) are feeling/working better today. It's the stuff of nightmares, an anaesthetic not working.

BTM, really good news about the holiday. I love Barcelona, you could also look at Cadaques (which is totally lovely) and maybe Andorra, which would have ski lifts running for nice hill walking.

Quick question.... I've got the whole family coming plus far flung cousins tomorrow...everyone bringing salad and pudding. I'm doing meat. I'm thinking about a large pulled pork and then some barbecue stuff. Do you think marinated chicken legs or posh burgers or sausages or what?

Auriga · 30/04/2017 09:41

MI Grin @ actor

BTM, good news about family holiday, glad you can look forward a bit.

DD has just pulled out of a planned trip to Rome with friends after exams. She discovered too late that it clashes with the last Symphony concert but she also admits she was getting worried about being away with the other girls. They're not close friends and exam stress is affecting everyone; lots of little tensions are breaking out here and there. She's losing her deposits on flights and hotel but says she is frankly relieved.

Lovely day here. Going to plan a longer than usual walk and drag DH along.

wordassociationfootball · 30/04/2017 09:52

Beachy chicken or burgers with your pork, or it's double pig. I've reduced your choice by one.

Crem - eye, yi, yi. That's hideous.

Lalsy - do post birth stitches not HAVE to hurt then? No one suggested more anaesthetic when I had a dozen in agony Angry

Saw the matinee of John Tiffany's Glass Menagerie yesterday. Every performance a stunner. Particularly Kate O'Flynn's Laura. She managed to give more pathos, hope, despair to the word 'yes' than I have ever heard. A heap of high energy performances that never became derailed. Plus one of those arriving late in second act characters that I don't often warm to but he was amazing. Came home and prodded self out to gym to beast self on cross-trainer on basis that evening pilates helps me sleep - it worked. Watched American Beauty with DD which is just as good as I remembered it.

Blackduck · 30/04/2017 10:02

BTM fab news re holiday. Cremo hope you are okay.
I'm on my way to iin-lead 60th Wedding Anniversary. Bit sad as my parents were just off that one too.
I seem to have spent the weekend on trains and eating ... will be glad to get home to my own bed tonight.
Have a lovely day all and thank you so much for everything - your friendship, kind words, care package and generally just being awesome Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/04/2017 10:55

Crem, that sounds hideous with your eye. I had a mole removed and they didn't give me enough anaesthetic - the doctor cut in and I screamed. But the eye must be 50 times worse.

Have made some delicious blondies this morning (coconut, bourbon and chocolate chip) and some blackberry and apple vodka.

CV - Barnes Wallis's son taught me maths.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/04/2017 11:21

Views on these? OK, or OK for Hotter? I'd go for the black or the red.

Dreamqueen · 30/04/2017 11:45

MrsS I like those sandals v much & they don't look like hotter at all. In fact having looked at them I'm now contemplating getting the silver ones. I had some similar ones from Clarks that are now sadly past their best.

motherinferior · 30/04/2017 11:46

I like them too! Agree about silver.

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2017 11:48

Ok for Hotter Grin But they look comfy Wink
Your cooking sounds delish Smile

Auriga, your DD sounds very sensible to pull out.

Beachy chicken, burgers and sausages?Grin I was looking at Cadaques but can't find any self-catering with a pool. There are some in Roses but it takes just as long to get to Barca as from Argeles Confused

BD, hope the party goes well.

motherinferior · 30/04/2017 11:50

Am also tempted by the Resort ones.

Lalsy · 30/04/2017 12:04

Ahem, I spent quite a long time in a Hotter last week. I was looking for trainery shoes so didn't try the sandals on (I usually need more support than that anyway) but thought those styles looked nice.

BD, hope it is OK.

WAF, play sounds amazing

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/04/2017 12:09

Yes, I liked the Resort ones too.

Cremolafoam · 30/04/2017 12:20

BTM, don't discount Girona as a possible departure airport. Plus Barca has a couple of airports. Do you know you are planning the exact holiday We have now settled on. Lol. I have only booked Collioure hotel for 3 nights and a final 1night 2days in Girona. The rest will be the northern part of Spain. I have a friend who live thereabouts so have good info on the area as Addle will contest, having been there last year ( trendsetter) I will add what I have to Crepenet travel folder and email you possible accom.options. In the meantime do check Rustical Travel for possibilities in Spain and A-Gites for France.Smile

Mrs S , I'd buy those and be delighted with myself when walking in the heat. I have ordered these because I'm a slave to fashion.Wink
Nice frock CV. Would dd not wear same to the prom?

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 30/04/2017 13:46

Cremo, that's really kind of you, but don't worry about accom options - we have hopefully booked 2 places, although Air bnb have somehow cocked up their calendar and we now have to change the dates slightly, but hopefully it will work out, wibble!

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2017 13:46

Like the sandals, Cremo!

motherinferior · 30/04/2017 14:54

I'm feeling hassled because I've got to get DP to agree to holiday accommodation in Portugal and he keeps getting the hump because he wants a villa and there just aren't any.

motherinferior · 30/04/2017 15:29

Oh ffs now he is kicking off about the whole thing. I am tired and fed up. I need to cook the chilli I promised for tonight. DD1 is refusing to revise. They can all sod off.Angry
