Really lovely posh lipstick for a special treat

Hi ladies,

After a few very busy weeks at work and home I fancy treating myself to a posh lipstick. I want something fairly neutral/ pink. Not too beige because my lips are quite pink naturally so beige lipsticks make me look a bit ill. Would prefer a neutral kind of colour because if I'm going to spend £££ on a lipstick I want to be able to wear it loads and I'm a bit scared of bright lipstick (although I always think they look fantastic on other peopl). Also I have dry lips so need something actively moisturing. Definitely not matte. Been thinking about the YSL shine one in the gorgeous packaging, but not sure whether to go for it or not. What would you lovely ladies recommended? 😀

I spent ages once picking out the perfect bright pink YSL one and it was worth every penny. I wore that lipstick down to the nub.

Other suggestion for beautiful packaging and a high end product, Charlotte Tilbury for nudes especially and a little known brand called Besame that does vintage style make up in shades of red and pink. If I was flashing the cash I would be looking at these three brands.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 05/04/2017 20:10

Any of the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks. Worth every penny - the best lipstick I've ever used.

Sounds like you might like Super Cindy or Pillow Talk.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 05/04/2017 20:11

And they're matte yes but not traditional matte - I've got horribly dry lips and I don't even need balm with them.

Terfinator · 05/04/2017 20:12

Personally, I find no7 to be the best quality!

wrapsuperstar · 05/04/2017 20:13

Tom Ford are wonderfully luxurious and feel like a proper cosmetic treat. I have recently purchased a lipstick from the Marc Jacobs cosmetics range too which I was very impressed by!

Theconifers25 · 05/04/2017 20:13

If it's about a treat that's mega ££££££ , delicando shade is a natural pink but stunning

Love MAC their cream sheen lippies are fab. They have a myriad of neutrals. I'm a 'mete' girl

MrsT2007 · 05/04/2017 20:14

Mehr that should say!

MrsT2007 · 05/04/2017 20:16

But mehr is matte....worth a trip to the counter for a match appointment

sleephypnosiszzz · 05/04/2017 20:17

i got a neutral pink chanel lipstick for my granny's 90th - it was something she'd never treat herself to but she did have chanel perfume. it was beautifully wrapped, you should tell them it's a gift to get a nice gift bag with tissue paper and a ribbon!

Mungobungo · 05/04/2017 20:17

I was scared of bright lipstick too until I did the no 7 colour match. Now I've got loads of brights that actually look good with my pasty blue-toned skin. Worth a try, even if it's just to build confidence with trying different colours. I've got a lovely neutral berry shade which I get lots of complements on and it doesn't make me look like the living dead/a goth.

Ooh thanks ladies.

Titania - Have never heard of Besame, going to Google them now and have a look. Pleased to hear you loved the ysl lipstick though.

Shoutout - Interesting about the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, I've never been able to wear matte lipstick really so might go and have a look at them. Also, maybe wrongly, assumed that Charlotte Tilbury was more style over substance.

Terfinator - I agree number 7 lipsticks are lovely, but I just fancied something a bit more special as a treat.

Thanks everyone

They don't always have all tgeir products in stock in the UK though so that's a bit of a pain.
They have two sites one for US and one for Europe.
Oooh I want to go make up shopping now!!!

stoplickingthetelly · 05/04/2017 20:31

The conifers that lipstick is gorgeous, but the price!!! 😭 want a treat but was thinking more around £30-40.
Mungo - Hadn't really considered getting colour matched for a lipstick. Thought it was just something people did for foundation. Might give it a go.
MrsT - do you find the mac lipstick drying at all? I want to be able to wear it everyday.

I've got sandwash pink from Bobbi Brown which is a lovely colour, but I can only wear it for limited periods of time because I find it drys my lips out.

Great suggestions everyone, thank you x

Try Cult beauty online also for the Besame or Charlotte Tilbury, Besame main site seems to be down.and they had an offer on CT products last week, dunno if its still on.

Ysl also do a really nice pressed powder in a compact if you want to do the whole pull out your glam shiny compact touch up your lipstick thing.

TitaniasCloset · 05/04/2017 20:36

I'm looking online now!!!! Grin

coffeecakemum · 05/04/2017 20:37

Estée Lauder pure color in rose tea is a perfect combo of pink and nude. Have a look at swatches online

stoplickingthetelly · 05/04/2017 20:39

Titanias 😃😃😃😃

Coffee just off to look at rose tea swatches, thanks.

I wear mine every day and it's not drying at all. It's matte but it's not a 'flat' matte like some are. It last well and had become my go to lippy

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/04/2017 20:41

If you want something really treaty, what about a Guerlain Rouge G? The packaging is absolutely the best out there.

Bloody hell just had a look at my lipsticks and just realised I've got Estate Lauder rose tea. It came as part of a freebie gift set. Maybe I don't actually need a new lipstick 🤔🤔🤔🤔 but I want one!

Mac syrup is a natural pink on me and my pale skin Smile I also like velvet teddy which is more beige but doesn't give me that corpse look. Patisserie is lovely and natural for a my lips but better look.

Lipstick Queen are also nice, have a look at Frog Prince Smile

Jemimapuddleduk · 05/04/2017 20:51

YSL rouge volupte are beautiful, moisturising and long lasting. Also Estée Lauder pure colour envy - 410 dynamic is a lovely pinky neutral that lasts really well.
