Waterproof coat that doesn't make me look like my old geography teacher and that doesn't cost £££

Thoughts?

This is good but insufficiently waterproof and too much £££ for not enough waterproof

This is bad bad bad

"Fun" is fine.

oh its for camping and getting wet in...but I don't want to be utterly dispirited by the whole thing, which I will be if I have to wear teal and burgundy with a mint trim, all together.

what about something like this?

Tutter · 06/03/2007 16:58

or this is ahem cheap and "cheerful"

Tutter · 06/03/2007 16:59

or this?

FillyjonkDOEStellherkidsoff · 06/03/2007 17:00

the second one is better, tutter, but sadly not waterproof enough, thanks.

the first one just needs a little mint trim...

god camping is dire enough ALREADY in many ways. a cheery yet durable mac is surely not too much to ask

pruni i curse you

It is like the holy grail of motherhood, isn't it (this is the second thread I've seen on the subject in as many days)?

How hard can it be to design a waterproof coat, with a hood, that doesn't make you look like Norma No-Mates the Trainspotter?

I like the Boden on too and have been weighing it up for ages but it's too expensive...

MrsBadger · 06/03/2007 18:19

I swear I am going to set up a company making and selling stylish hooded macs that are properly waterproof - I'll make a fortune...

Lucycat · 06/03/2007 18:27

this one?

fashion and camping in the rain do not go together.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 06/03/2007 18:36

I bought a very loud cagoule in the Lakes last year (white with huge green flowers on it). Was horrified to then discover that Milletts do a whole range in the same print...including a farking tent. Shan't be wearing that while camping then...

babster · 06/03/2007 18:41

Milletts have a big sale on at the moment - today I bought a funky cream parka (it isn't grim, really, I promise) - reduced from £64.99 to £14.99.

Tutter · 06/03/2007 19:19

is it this babster?

brimfull · 06/03/2007 19:25

lands end have some great quality stuff,it actually does what it says and you can send it back whenever if it doesn't
this might be good

brimfull · 06/03/2007 19:27

this

babster · 06/03/2007 19:33

That's the one, Tutter - bargain!

Biglips · 06/03/2007 19:35

emkana · 06/03/2007 19:38
