Are these shoes hideous?

Hello All

Am returning to work soon-ish from ML. I used to wear high heels no problem but since DD has been born I've lost the ability to walk in them Grin I ordered these online out of curiousity and they arrived today.

I envisage wearing them witj slim fitting black ankle grazer trousers. They might also possibly go with black opaques.

All my work clothes are still up in the attic so I've only tried them on with skinny jeans. They actually looked quite nice with ankle skinnies but I can't imagine I'll wear them with those.

Will I be thinking I look quite chic but people will be secretly sniggering thinking I look like Miss Marple?

Feel like I've lost my style mojo a bit since DD has been born so I would appreciate your thoughts. You can be brutally honest Grin

Thanks

I don't like the way the heel flares out at the bottom, it should be the other way round. But block heels are fashionable, especially if you are wider of leg. (although you don't look it in the photo).

milkmoustache · 20/03/2017 13:46

More Thatcher than Marple. Should be accessorised with a rigid handbag with a gold clasp.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 20/03/2017 13:52

I think I imagined myself swishing back into the office looking like this. But without the woolly hat, sunglasses or winter coat. They are rip-offs of Gucci heeled loafers but looking at pics of Gucci ones the heel doesn't flare out at the bottom.

I however am not a Gucci model and now thanks to Milk I can't get the image of Thatcher in them out of my head Grin

It's for your own good! Step away from the court shoes with the golden snaffle..

PollyBanana · 20/03/2017 13:55

If you can't wear heels try something lower.
That heel is too high and chunky for the rest of the shoe

JohnCheese · 20/03/2017 13:56

Ooh I quite like them too.

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2017 13:56

Pirate shoes!!
Accessorise with a parrot and eyepatch and you will be fine

JohnCheese · 20/03/2017 14:01

Hoppinggreen, I had a thread about pirate shoes. I kept 'em, and still have said pirate shoes. I like them. They are however horrible to wear . Phenomenally uncomfortable. They were from Office. A real 'Don't Buy'.

JohnCheese · 20/03/2017 14:03

PS The kids are delighted I don't wear the pirate shoes.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 20/03/2017 14:04

Ok, forget about eyepatches. Imagine that my legs were browner, that my jeans are fitted black ankle grazer trousers and that I'm wearing a cream silk blouse or black top and that I'm 10lbs lighter. Would you think these were the shoes of an 80 year old pirate? I think the fact that I'm dithering says it all. With purchases I normally put them straight away in my wardrobe as keepers or put them straight back in bag to be returned. I'm no good with in between decisions!

My mirror probably has DD's finger prints all over it! Can't see properly due to cracked phone screen!

Great!

Saw Sali Hughes ( yes her) in a pair of this the other day. And she looked uber cool.

As long as the rest of the outfit is not to severe and formal. They look great with your jeans. Sali had hers on with a leather skirt.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 20/03/2017 14:12

Actually, looking at them on me in the photo they will look diabolical with black opaques and dresses so I'm not going to get any wear out of them in autumn/winter months as I think ankle grazer trousers are the only thing they'll go with. With stop dithering now and pack them away to send back.

Thanks all for your opinions!

Would you have a pussy bow on your silk blouse, and a string of pearls...? I think they are too dangerously close to Thatcher territory, but if they make you think of pirates, then you will need a jack sparrow style bandana instead!

spiney · 20/03/2017 14:13

*pair of these........
*not too severe......
Jeez.

polyhymnia · 20/03/2017 15:27

Sorry, but really dislike them - the heels, the cheap looking gold snaffle, and the old fashioned style. You could do much better.

lalaloopyhead · 20/03/2017 15:31

They are very queen mother, but I have seen loads of shoes on the high street with that heel so can only assume its the in thing!

They are not hideous, but they are not super stylish either.

Having said that I am getting to an age where as long as they are comfortable they will do....

RiverdaleJughead · 20/03/2017 15:42

I like them

NotdeadyetBOING · 20/03/2017 15:43

I like them.

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2017 16:29

They look like shoes from the 70s! I know it's fashionable right no but I think it's a pretty ugly look personally.

leccybill · 20/03/2017 16:38

I used to live in heels but I have completely embraced flats, like everyone else in my office seemingly. Feel like I'm twice as productive too!

Have a look at patent brogues or even, low heeled slingbacks which are just coming into fashion- New Look has some nice tan ones.

ohgoshIdontknow · 20/03/2017 16:41

Yes they're fashiony but that doesn't stop them being hideous

GinIsIn · 20/03/2017 16:43

They're horrible - the kind of thing a little old lady would wear with a tweed suit. Unless your job is being Miss Marple....

dogdogday · 20/03/2017 16:45

Sorry OP but they look like something my Nain would wear and she's in her 80s!

Millipedewithherfeetup · 20/03/2017 16:48

They are really not that bad ! It's just one pair of shoes for work, will anyone really be looking at your feet that closely?
