Sorry to miss the overseas crowd, but dp overseas and I'm on child/dog/law case (don't ask) duties......

MrsWobble3 · 20/03/2017 22:01

Count me in for Saturday. The dds are very amused at the idea and keep on giving me tips about keeping yourself safe when meeting people off the internet. But as the MU is in a public place they approve. Dd3 has offered to lend me her spare rape alarm but I told her I thought my age and general decrepitude would be sufficiently off putting.

Can I be told/reminded of details please - either on here or via pm. I'm looking forward to it.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 20/03/2017 22:16

I know Mrs W, my dss tease me relentlessly about meeting up with 'women off the internet' Grin. Sorry I won't get to meet you - this time.

Oooh Crem what are you going to see in Greenwich (if you want to say on here)? So much to do there.

Just listened to TB on McGuinness.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/03/2017 09:03

If you are meeting for drinks at 5, I could come for a quick one...

motherinferior · 21/03/2017 09:31

Morning all. The sun is shining and I've been for a run.

Am trying not to be worried about work and fed up with life in general. Also frustrated with the number of people supposed to be giving feedback on my novel draft and not doing so, bar one (good and sensitive) reader who suggests rewriting the whole damn thing and cutting some of the narrative strands completely.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/03/2017 09:37

I have just cleared out my mother's fridge. Eggs best before September. Mustard best before 2004. The cupboard has yielded curry powder best before 1995, marmalade best before 1991 and honey and paprika from a trip to Hungary in 1989...

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/03/2017 09:38

I have binned the eggs but have left everything else. Oh, also chocolate sprinkles that a friend brought me from Amsterdam in 1973...

Blackduck · 21/03/2017 09:51

Anyone going to Bilbao this year? A picture from there has got broken and I am :(.
Just about sums up my life at the minute.

Cremolafoam · 21/03/2017 10:49

BD dont be sad. Its just a dip and things will get better. Having to cancel holiday must have been awful. You sre a brilliant and lovely person so do not let the bastards get you down.
We are here for you don't forget FlowersFlowersFlowersGinGinGin

Lalsy, going to zip up the river by boat. Then wander around the market. We have tickets for a talk at The Observatory by req of dh. Then a lunch or tea somewhere yummy tba

Cremolafoam · 21/03/2017 10:56

Mrs S bleurgh. Chuck the lot in case of salmonella/listeria/legionaries disease ShockWinkGrin
Mmmmn hagelslag.....

Blackduck · 21/03/2017 11:20

Crem thank you. Yes cancelling the holiday was grim and being here is awful. Not sure I can take much more.

Lalsy · 21/03/2017 11:39

Oh BD, this sounds awful, I hope you have some RL support too. Crossing everything for job around the corner for you, and for Crem.

That sounds lovely, Crem.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 21/03/2017 12:44

Oh dear BD, sorry to hear things are so awful - still. Loss of picture sounds a bit last strawish.

My god Mrs S. Un - be - lieve - able. If you chuck them out you know she'll be very cross when she's better!

Sending best wishes to Mrs S and Sheila.

Sorry not to be able to make the MU. It's complicated but mostly family reasons and teaching the next morning, which is unusual but happens sometimes. Crem where will you be on Monday?

MrsS sounds like you need to sweep the lot into a bin. Especially worried about those six month old eggs...Hmm

BD so sorry. I have never forgotten what it felt like to cancel a holiday due to unforeseen circs ...mine was due to health reasons. I remember unpacking the cases in floods of tears. The hotel however was sweet and gave us vouchers....and I also remember how lovely it was to re book when things got better. And they will for you too Flowers

hattymattie · 21/03/2017 13:34

BD - just nipping on to give hugs and wish you a better time xx

Mrs S - Shockat DM's food cupboards. She probs won't miss the chocolate sprinkles!

CointreauVersial · 21/03/2017 13:37

Addle - that reminds me, at my First Aid course last week we all had to say a little bit about who we were, where we worked etc. One chap piped up that he was an Undertaker; there was much guffawing about why exactly he needed the qualification, and wasn't it a bit late by the time he got to meet his clientele??

Urgh, MrsS - we cleared out DDad's larder when DSM first moved in. Plenty of stuff left over from when he was still married to DM, who had moved out 13 years earlier. It was the first time I'd seen foodstuff priced in shillings and pence.

BD - sorry to hear you are down in the dumps. So hard when DP is away. Can you allow yourself a little "treat"? A new lipstick? An afternoon out somewhere nice? A huge cream cake? Sounds trivial, but it might lift the spirits even a little bit?

motherinferior · 21/03/2017 13:59

Yes, good idea, CV.

magimedi · 21/03/2017 15:29

Mrs S's food cupboards sound like my late MIL's!

Boring update from me - my UTI didn't clear with first round of antibiotics & have spent the last 2 days in bed with Brian the bucket & a raging temperature. Feeling a bit better today but somewhat fragile. Silver lining is that with that & earlier noro virus I've lost about 10lbs.

Flowers to all of you having such trials in life.

Lalsy · 21/03/2017 15:31

Magi, you have had such a run of ailments, hope this is the last for a while. Take care.

hattymattie · 21/03/2017 15:49

MM - that all sounds dreadful. Hopefully with better weather will come better health. Flowers I was wondering - did your son get his nationality yet?

bigTillyMint · 21/03/2017 17:02

BE, So sorry to hear you are feeling broken. I know that feeling. KOBO Gin

Mrs, sounds like my DM'"s cupboards this time last year. Hope you can manage a quickie on Saturday Wink

Sat in the dentists waiting room. At least it's the fit one Smile

hattymattie · 21/03/2017 17:12

Are you getting your implants BTM?

herbaceous · 21/03/2017 17:26

Grandma S's cupboards seem compulsory issue to the elderly. My mum's had to be emptied of all manner of out of date food, and the vegetable basket! Oh my. Matter in there was liquid.

Sorry for unshifting gloom, BD. Is there any way you can just chuck your job in and do something menial and temporary?
