WAF my thoughts are with you and your mum. I dearly hope she gets her wish.

motherinferior · 13/03/2017 16:53

I am on that thread vociferously pointing out that no way could Daddy have gently picked up his little darling and dandled her lovingly on his knee. A child with that level of cheery normality would immediately have sung a little song or chatted about pants.

I have done radio interviews down the phone from the bath, I think.

Cremolafoam · 13/03/2017 17:02

Oh for heavens sake, that clip is hilarious. The family had clearly been briefed that ,'dad had an important call' and mum or childminder was horrified that the kids waltzed in on him. It's classic. The way she goes in like a stealth ninja and hopes she can't be seen, is outstanding.

Waf pet, I do hope your lovely mum leaves the stage, softly and peacefully. I am awfully sorry for you, but you have been so dignified, and a lovely daughter.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 13/03/2017 17:13

I had the cockerel crowing outside the patio doors while I was on some interactive training thingy with multiple people in Chicago. That was interesting to explain! They had assumed I was in the office....

Flowers for WAF and a peaceful passing for Shelia.

My new shoes arrived today. I think I like them, they are on my feet anyway Grin

summer dr martens

Montypulciano · 13/03/2017 17:18

Sending you love, dear Waf, and wishing your darling mum peace. Xxx

Auriga · 13/03/2017 17:27

WAF, wishing a peaceful death for your dear mother Sheila. Will sing the final chorus of the Matthew Passion for her this evening.

When my Mum was in a coma, she made repetitive movements that made my sisters worry she was in pain; but they were reflex movements and she was deeply unconscious. The nurses would be able to tell you if that's happening (the qualified ones).

herbaceous · 13/03/2017 17:37

Oh WAF, what a time. I too will think of Sheila during our St Matthew Passion this evening - hopefully we'll be doing the final chorus too. Though it generally makes me cry, and will be doubly so this evening.

Still have odd stomach pains and general feeling of 'bleugh'. Hopefully a passing virus or similar.

Took DS to Moorfields today for one of his periodic mouldings, where they squirt putty into his eye socket. Poor thing - he was so brave, but it's so very unpleasant. I think I'll buy him some emergency service vehicles, his latest obsession, as a treat tomorrow.

Filling out the multiple forms needed for new job. I have a question: the job ad said the job paid £20K a year. I thought this was after it had been 'pro-rata'd', but it turns out this was before 'pro-rata-ing' to account for term time only. I know schools are pretty inflexible with salary scales and that, but I was wondering if would be worth trying to negotiate the pay upwards a little? Considering my qualifications?

Montypulciano · 13/03/2017 18:10

Herbs, it certainly won't happen unless you ask so I would draft a polite email seeing if there is wiggle room on the wonga in the light of your experience and qualifications. The worst they can say is no and they may say yes.

wordassociationfootball · 13/03/2017 18:55

Yes, ask for wonga wriggle, Herbs. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil (one if dh's faves)

Thank you everyone. And Herbs and Auriga she would love it if you sang M Pash for her, that has touched me very deeply. Sadly the pain was real. The nurse had been trying to get a doc to prescribe, but they had a crisis (national neuro specialust unit). She will now get oramorph as needed.

Huge congrats to CVS D's. You could get him a 2cv Smile

herbaceous · 13/03/2017 19:02

Made a polite enquiry in the email I sent with admin paperwork. So, we shall see!

Ooh yes to a 2CV for CV DS! I used to drive a 2CV. It was great fun, though about as substantial as a paper bag.

motherinferior · 13/03/2017 19:10

DP has texted me to say he is in a conference call. I texted back saying helpfully that he is missing coconut chicken curry.

bigTillyMint · 13/03/2017 19:11

Beachy, I love them! In fact I was envying a youngish woman's leather DMs in the same style just yesterday. However, I think my (pretty traditional) DC would tell me that they aren't for women my ageAngrySad I will ask when they come in!

Herbs, it's always worth a try!

MrsWobble3 · 13/03/2017 19:14

I came on to whinge that my day has not got any better - but seeing what others of you are dealing with I think I'll STFU and slink away grateful for my happy healthy family.

I'm off to the gym to improve my mood and if that fails then plan b is gin.

(PS my phone just autocorrected gin to fun - not a bad attempt)

addle · 13/03/2017 19:35

Waf, I'll be thinking of you, your family and your dsis and wishing your mother a peaceful and gentle death.

Herbs - nothing to lose. do ask.

BTM - hope went well for DS today. Thanks for good wishes for my DS. Will no doubt be fine in the end but just at the moment, it's an awkward time to change your mind.

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2017 20:35

WAF - thinking of you and your DM. Flowers

GiddyGiddyGoat · 13/03/2017 20:43

Hi CV, have missed you! Well done to your ds - brilliant.

Sending you and your poor Mum all best wishes WAF. Hope you are peaceful now Sheila and not in pain.

wordassociationfootball · 13/03/2017 20:51

I love that you are talking to my mum crepies, it's very kind. I won't update much on the situation for the next while. I'd prefer to blether.

Lalsy, your 'sweet idiot' Cazalet skit made I larf.

Lalsy · 13/03/2017 20:59

WAF, thinking of you and your family, and I wish a peaceful and comfortable time for Sheila.

Lovely shoes.

Seem to have been on the run all day.

Stropperella · 13/03/2017 21:31

Flowers waf, thinking of you and your mum. Hope she gets her wish.

CV, congrats to your ds. Hope his insurance is not too eye-watering.

Addle, sorry to hear about exam trauma and mind-changing. This stuff shouldn't be as ridiculously stressful as it is. :(

BTM, so sorry that ds is still struggling. A bastard illness indeed.

I was having a down day and feeling bitter and twisted about various aspects of life, until I got a phone call this evening from my HoD telling me some sad news about a close colleague which given me a smack round the perspective chops. Carpe diem, and all that...

herbaceous · 13/03/2017 22:39

Sang the last few choruses of Matt Pash with even more tears in my eyes than usual, and wished Sheila on her way.

Our music director is doing a voice survey, and we all have to have individual assessment. Tonight was my turn. Satisfyingly I got a top Bflat with ease, and was deemed to have a 'very good ear'. So that's nice.

IDismyname · 13/03/2017 22:59

Crem You are a star for posting the pic. I've actually ordered a hard copy.

WAF My thoughts are with you tonight. I will say prayers to speed Shelia Heavenwards with as little pain and as much peace as possible. When it comes to it, and there's no escaping what will happen, I think being pain free is the top priority.

Colly Great News. May it get even better from now on.

Beachy Nice shoes. Very 'you'! (Gawd. I sound like my mother)

Montypulciano · 14/03/2017 06:23

Dear Waf, how are you today? Hope things are peaceful for Sheila and that she is pain free. Hugs to you Flowers

Cloud, how are you today? How is the atmosphere at home? And how is your lovely boy? Still over a week to the funeral. I hope he is bearing up.

Stropps, sorry for your sad news. How is your mammoth term going? And how is dd?

A busy day beckons. Better jump to it. Back later I hope.

wordassociationfootball · 14/03/2017 06:52

Monty I bet you're having your bath right now. I love a bath but at night. I'd just want to go straight back to bed if I had one in the morning.

Beachy those shoes are lovely. Are they quite DM heavy, or are the soles lighter than the normal?

Herbs, congrats on your 'good ear' and thanks again very much for the thoughts and the (good ear) singing and any (good voice) bflats you might have landed on.

I hope you had a good sleep BTM.

I've been awake since 4 having swanked to my bf that despite the hosp sitch, I'd been sleeping well. Bum.

Carpe diem indeed Stropps.

Can't go into specifics on mine, but to you ever have a trio say of wildly unrelated items that you're googling and think blimey life is interesting ?

Rose - I can't find my login list for the email attached to my MN. I just want to say thank you very much and send you a squeeze.

Rosebag · 14/03/2017 08:14

WAF Have emailed the message to you instead Flowers xx

Cremolafoam · 14/03/2017 11:14

Waf, thinking of you.

Went back to Pilates last night after six week break. Can't walk today.
In unrelated news there is a bullfinch trying to attack what he thinks is another bullfinch against the sliding doors. What can I do to make him stop, he is actually sitting on the door handle looking in.?
#smallstuff

Rose, good to see you here. Hope things are slowly getting better.Flowers

In reasons to be cheerful, recently of which I had a dearth.
