I will fight it mainly because it is so underhand and wrong - I am hoping I can get senior bodes on board who will carry more weight with the Dean than I do (2 are already aware and the third we will tell next week) - the other person involved is a friend (yes really) and isn't happy either. We are hoping it can be nipped in the bud. Meanwhile I am on the job hunt and discussing with do how we might manage our lives even if in the short term (ie living away during the week and coming back at weekends or something)

BD - Go fight it! I'd just say be wary of weekending - we've done it & it's really tough. It was easier when DH was away for 4 months frankly. Weekending builds up the weekends too much.

From my understanding (years ago, when this happened to me), the principle of redundancy of that post comes first - that is a separate legal question from what the settlement is (if more than contractual). My (public sector) employer strung it out, taking till the deadline day to respond to anything, and then obfuscating.

BD - keep records of everything that happens, any incompetence, irregularity, etc. Then if you do get made redundant and on unfavourable terms, you can threaten them with an unfair dismissal tribunal and get a massive wedge. That's what I did. It was brilliant!

The settlement will not be enhanced - it will be standard (so pants). Yes I will record everything.
